Tyron woke up when he heard a weak growl. He fell asleep as he leaned his head on the bed where Jesabell was lying down.
“No… ahhh, brother, help me!”
He grabbed the girl’s palm tightly and woke her up. She may have dreamed about her youth and called him her older brother. This is how she was when she was a young girl—she was always calling him, even in her dreams.
“Go away from me! Ahh, don’t!” Jesabell was already screaming in fear and embracing whatever she could hold.
“Jesabell, wake up!” Tyron had already shaken the girl’s shoulder to wake her up. Jesabell seemed to see a ghost when she opened her eyes. She held the blanket over her chest so tight, and her eyes looked around alertly. She didn’t know why she got in her bed. All she remembered was that she was hiding under the hospital bed before she fell asleep.
“Calm down. I’m here, and I won’t let anyone hurt you.” Tyron brushed the girl’s hair, comforting her.
It was a good feeling. Her heart and mind are calming down because of Tyron. She was about to embrace him as she used to do when she was scared. But she suddenly remembered her promise to herself—her promise that she should never rely on Tyron.
“What’s wrong?”
She smiled sadly when she heard the young man’s soft voice. He didn’t seem to get angry at her. He might have done it out of pity for her since Emily wasn’t in front of them. A few moments later, the door opened and Emily entered. And just like he used to do, Tyron hurriedly attended to her.
“Why did you get up again? It’s still early; you might be sick again,” Tyron told the girl worriedly.
“I was scared when I woke up and you weren’t there. I also thought of Jesabell, so I hurriedly came here.” Emily hugged the young man while looking at Jesabell.
Jesabell took a deep breath and looked at the two blankly. She didn’t want to be weak because Emily is imitating her.
“I’m sorry, I’ll go back to my room, and Jesabell might get angry again.” Emily let go to hug the young man.
“Why should I be angry?”
Emily was surprised as she looked at Jesabell. Tyron’s forehead crumpled. “Jesabell, I’m sorry. I know you’re angry when I approach Tyron.”
Jesabell smiled at the woman even though in her heart she wanted to spill her with venomous saliva, if only she had it. “Don’t worry, from now on I will not be jealous. Besides, you need Tyron by your side more than I do. You can leave me alone. You don’t have to take care of me.”
Tyron’s forehead wrinkled even more. He didn’t know what Jesabell’s drama was now because she was pushing him to Emily.
“Tyron, what happened to Jesabell? Do you think she has something new to think about to get me out of your house?” Emily almost whispered to the young man and held his arm tightly.
Tyron sighed and looked at Jesabell. “Tell me what you need in exchange for your kindness.”
Jesabell wanted to laugh, but she restrained it. She could not blame the young man. He thought that all she did or said needed an exchange. She looked straight at the young man and met his gaze. “Food… I want to taste your cooking again.”
Emily clenched her teeth out of annoyance. Then, she darted a furious look at Jesabell. She was right. Jesabell will find a way to get Tyron’s trust again. Little did she know that the young man was good at cooking and even cooked for Jesabell.
“Jesabell, you know Tyron was a busy man. You don’t have to request him to cook for you. Because there are so many helpers—”
“I’m just kidding,” she interrupted Emily’s showing off. “I know Tyron is busy, and you’re still sick. All right, you can leave me here, and you might be dizzy again.” She drove away the two and then tilted on the other side of the bed. But damn it, it was in the wrong direction. She forgot that the wound was on that side. Even though it hurts, she does not react. She endured the pain and waited for the two to leave.
Emily held her head and swayed in her stance. “Tyron, I’m dizzy.”
“Tsk, is there no new reason?” Jesabell whispered as Emily groaned.
Without a word, Tyron helps the girl out of the room.
Jesabell rolled her eyes when the two left. She got up slowly. “Shit, it’s so painful!” She breathes violently because of the pain. “If you were unlucky, oh!” she complained as she gently touched her wound.
“Tyron?” she called to the young man when he suddenly stopped walking after shutting the door. She saw him looking at the small window behind the door, but she had no strength to call him again.
“Go back to your room, and I’ll follow.”
Emily looked at the man’s hand that was holding her arm unbelievably when he slowly removed it and let her go. He did not wait for her to speak and hurriedly entered Jesabell’s room again. She clenched her fist, and she also peeped at where the man was looking just now.
“Bitch! I thought you had changed!” Emily whispered to herself when she saw that Jesabell was struggling to get up.
Jesabell stopped from moving when a hand suddenly held her arm to support her. She was even more surprised when she recognized the man. Her mouth fell open when he suddenly lifted her and laid her down.
“You don’t have to hurt yourself just to make me stay by your side!” Tyron angrily scolded the girl, especially when he saw that her wound was bleeding again. “Don’t you want your wound to be cured?”
Jesabell bites her lower lip and prevents her tears from falling. It is even more painful to hear this word from the young man than her wounds. She looked away and remained silent. Her voice would definitely crack once she spoke.
Tyron sighed when he realized he had hurt the girl’s feelings again. “Look, you know I don’t want you to hurt yourself and—”
“That won’t happen again; I just forgot that my wound was on this side,” she replied coldly to the man.
Tyron sighed again and did not blame the girl so that her resentment would not get worse. “Alright, I’ll cook you some food after you get out of the hospital.”
Somehow, she felt better now. Even though he sounded forced, it was ok for her. She wanted to taste his cooking for the last time. His ability in cooking was the reason behind the changes in her heartbeat for the man. And if she tasted his cooking again, her heartbeat might return to normal.
“The doctor says you have to stay here for a few days.”
“I don’t want to stay here for a long time.”
“Don’t be stubborn. I’m leaving later to visit the company branch in the province, so the assistant will watch over you while I am not here.”
She no longer objects to the man’s decision. Besides, she has no right to refuse whatever he wants. On the other hand, she didn’t want to hope anymore because she was sure that he would definitely forget about her again.
“I’ll take care of Emily first,” Tyron said goodbye as he fixed the girl’s blanket.
She just nodded before closing her eyes. She could feel the young man staring at him for a few seconds before leaving. She just opened her eyes when she heard the door open and shut.
A few days later, Jesabell could no longer see Jason. She has no news about Tyron either. He didn’t even say hello or give her a call. She heard from the assistant that he was with Emily on a business trip. Although it saddened her, she has learned to control her emotions. She did not want to lose her life because of sadness. The assistant visited and brought food just once. Fortunately, her nurse was kind and cared for her properly.
Tyron sees her as crazy, so he has paid a psychiatrist to put her under observation. She was nervous that she might become one of those victims on a TV drama she had watched, where the heroine was suddenly sent to a mental hospital. So she really needed to act nicely until she got the chance to leave Tyron’s territory.
"Tyron or you?" she whispered as well and laughed at the woman. "If you don't want them to look down on you, then don't try me here. Get your piggy-looking personnel away from me, and I might fry you in her oil." She meant to raise her voice to be able to reach Ms. Katibag's hearing. It was as if Emily got burned. She suddenly got away from Jesabell and approached her friend, whose cheeks had gotten red out of anger. She held her by the hand and whispered. "Calm down, don't worry, and you can get revenge on her in a different way."Jesabell smiled at the woman Emily was talking to, and it was obvious that she was trying to calm herself down. She waited for what other move Emily would take so that she would not be embarrassed by her.Emily cleared her throat and confronted the employees who had stopped doing their jobs and focused on listening to them. "Don't you have any work to do?" she shouted at them. The anger she felt for Jesabell shifted to the employees."Go to your work! And m
"Is there a problem with me?" she curiously asked the woman. She noticed that the woman is targeting her.The woman stopped, and the other employees looked at them."Seriously, she was just a new intern, but she was very courageous to question Ms. Katibag."Jesabell heard a woman near her table whisper. She looked at Lory and caught her laughing at her."How dare you! Don't you know me to answer me bluntly like that?" Ms. Katibag growled at her angrily."Excuse me! I'm sorry if you took it bluntly, but I'm just asking. Besides, I'm new here. I don't know what to do. I need proper guidance on what to do, like how you treated my classmates. And you don't even have to shout at me to obey your command because I'm not deaf," Jesabell said in a long litany.Emily grinned as she secretly watched Jesabell talk to her personnel. She was pleased with what she saw and the way Jesabell behaved against Katibag, whom she knew for being so strict at work. She will surely make a mess with Jesabell si
When Jesabell entered Patty's room, the woman was not there yet. It was still early, and she wasn't sleepy. She looked at her cellphone, but there was no message from Tyron. It only brought annoyance to her. He was bothering her earlier, knowing she was with her friends. But now that he knew that she was alone, he did not contact her. She didn't want to make the move. Then she remembers her friend's strict advice that she should be hard to get with Tyron. And let the man make the first move between the two of them.Suddenly, Timothy came to her mind. The man was kind. And his age and Tyron's weren't far apart. Having a child also added to his appeal. It was obvious that he is a responsible father for Trix despite being a single father. He is one of the examples of a hot single dad, which most women want to be with. Being a wealthy businessman is a jackpot! A message tone interrupted Jesabell from thinking about Timothy's family. She hurriedly read it."I'm a little bit busy. Sleep ear
Jason scratched his head awkwardly. His companions at the table were very serious, except for Mince, who couldn't stop laughing at his corny joke. When their attention was no longer with him, he grinned. Then he sent a message to Tyron again. Once he hears the voice message, he will surely be angrier. It was as if he had retaliated for neglecting his friend and for Jesabell's tears every time she cried for Tyron. Until their paths separated from Timothy's family, the smile on his lips had never been erased."What's the problem?" Jonard asked his grandson, noticing his dark aura."Grandpa, I need to go back to the company." He couldn't meet his grandfather's wondering gaze.Jonard sighed as he watched Tyron, knowing he was lying. "I survived the operation, so I will never stop you from doing what you want to do with her. But let her do what she wants to do, and don't force her with the things she doesn't want.""Thank you, Grandpa. But I don't know where and how to start because of wha
Jason stopped laughing so hard after reading Tyron's message. He was just forced to obey him because he was angry at what he had done to Jesabell's feelings before. And if it wasn't for his future and for Tyron showing his sincerity, he would never accept the offer, which, in return, required him to guard Jesabell."She can't refuse the child, and they will notice me if I keep on guarding her hard," Jason reasoned with Tyron in his next reply.Tyron heavily blew air out of his mouth. Then he thought of another way. He knew Jesabell loved him, but he annoyingly picked up his cellphone again. But this time, he no longer contacts Jason.Jesabell was unable to continue putting the food in her mouth when her cellphone on the table suddenly rang. The people whom they shared food with looked at her, so she shyly pressed the button to stop the ring without looking at who the caller was."Answer it, hija, and it looks important." Minche smiled at the girl, pointing at the cellphone as it rang
Jesabell shrugged. "What do you think? Does he love me too?""Am I the holder of his heart?" Jason replied philosophically to the girl."Hmmm, you're really nonsense!" Jessabell folded her arms and frowned.Jason smiled as he watched his friend. He's glad because she is happy now. Hopefully her joy will continue, and her young heart that fell in love and suffered from grief very early will never hurt again."Jason..." she called to her friend while looking outside the window."Hmmm?"She looked at her friend, who seemed too lazy to speak. "How can you tell if a man is serious about a woman?""When he respects her femininity and becomes protective of her."Jesabelle's face beamed in happiness and excitement. Then a sweet smile started forming on her lips. "So... Tyron loves me?""Tsk, don't expect it, and it's painful when your heart gets broken."Jesabell glared at her friend annoyingly, and he was really useless to talk to."But I think your relationship is leveling up."Jesabell fro
