MEGAN'S POV

Morning light filters through the curtains of the hotel room, but I haven't slept.

Not really.

I've been lying here for hours, staring at the ceiling, my mind refusing to shut off.

The twins.

They're not here.

For the first time since they were born, I didn't put them to bed myself. I didn't read them their bedtime stories. I didn't kiss their foreheads and tell them I love them before they went to sleep.

And it's tearing me apart.

I groan internally, pressing the heels of my palms against my eyes.

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid.

When they asked to visit Xarion, I knew there was a possibility this could happen. I knew they'd get too comfortable with him. I knew they'd want to stay longer.

And now? Now they're sleeping at his house, and I'm here, wide awake, wondering if they're okay.

MEGAN'S POVVance grins, that easy, charming smile of his lighting up his face. "Good morning to you too, Megan."I cross my arms, squinting at him in curiosity. "Seriously. It's eight in the morning. What are you doing here?""I came to see you," he replies simply, holding up the bag. "And I brought breakfast. Thought you might be hungry."I stare at him for a moment, then step aside, gesturing for him to come in."You really didn't have to do all this," I mutter as I close the door behind him."I know," he says, walking over to the small dining table by the window and setting the bag down. "But I wanted to. So here I am."I shake my head, following him, but I can't help the small smile forming on my lips. "You're something else, you know that?""Oh, I know," he quips, flashing me a wink as he hands me the flowers.I roll my eyes, but the warmth in my chest is undeniable as I take them. "Thank you. They're beautiful.”"Not as beautiful as you," he replies smoothly, his eyes twinkling

  • I Need You, My Luna   CHAPTER 69

XARION'S POVMegan's voice sends a jolt through me, and I can practically feel the ice radiating through the phone. But I force myself to stay calm, taking a slow breath before responding."Hey, Megan," I greet as evenly as I can manage. "Thanks for picking up.""What do you want?" she counters, her tone stiff and impatient. "Is something wrong with the twins?""No, no. They're fine. Perfect, actually. We've been having a great time."There's a pause, and I can hear her exhale sharply on the other end."Then why are you calling?" she presses, her voice still laced with suspicion.I glance down at Maverick and Makayla, who are watching me with wide, hopeful eyes, and I steel myself for what I'm about to ask."The twins…" I begin carefully, choosing my words. "They want to stay the night with me."Silence.Dead silence.I can almost see Megan's body tightening, her arms crossing, that familiar defensive posture she gets when she's about to tell me no."Absolutely not," she replies flatl

XARION'S POV"Yes!" Makayla shouts, bouncing on her toes.Maverick grins. "Can we meet everyone who works here too?"I chuckle, ruffling his hair. "Absolutely. Come on."I take their hands, leading them out of my office and into the hallway. The second we step into the common area, heads turn.My employees pause mid-conversation, their eyes widening as they take in the sight of their Alpha walking through the office with two small children following along."Is that…?" one of them whispers to her colleague in surprise."Alpha Xarion's kids," the other murmurs back, shocked.I stop at the desk of one of my senior project managers, a bright woman named Janice who's been with the company for years."Janice," I say, gesturing to the twins. "I'd like you to meet Maverick and Makayla. My kids."Her face lights up instantly. "Oh my goodness! It's so nice to meet you both!"Makayla beams up at her. "Hi! What do you do here?""I help make sure all the big projects your Daddy works on run smooth

XARION'S POVThe conference room door closes behind me with a soft thud, and I resist the urge to punch the nearest wall. That meeting was a disaster. Not because of bad business. The numbers are solid, the quarterly projections are excellent, and the investors are happy. But none of that matters when my mind's somewhere else entirely.I couldn't focus or think straight. Every time someone presented a slide or made a point, all I could see was Megan's face at the hospital, the twins huddled against her, and the fear in their eyes. And the worst part? I still have nothing. No leads. No answers. No damn clue who sent those rogues.Despite everything I've done, despite Andrew working around the clock, despite every contact I've squeezed for information, we're no closer to finding out who tried to kill my family than we were three days ago.Three days. It's been three days since Megan was discharged, and I haven't seen her or the twins since.I wanted to. Goddess knows I wanted to.But ev

  • I Need You, My Luna   CHAPTER 66

MEGAN'S POVI take a breath, realizing this is the moment I've been dreading. The moment I have to fully explain our world to them."Alright," I begin slowly and reposition myself so I can look at both of them properly. "You know how Mommy's a werewolf, right?"They nod eagerly."Well, that means I have a wolf inside me,” I continue. “All werewolves do. And I can shift into my wolf form whenever I need to.”"Like magic?" Makayla questions, her eyes sparkling with wonder."Sort of," I reply with a soft laugh. "But it's not magic. It's just part of who we are. And one day, when you're older, you'll be able to shift too."Maverick's eyes widen. "Really?""Yep," I confirm. "But not until you're a bit older. Usually around sixteen or eighteen. That's when your wolf will wake up inside you.""Will it hurt?" Makayla inquires nervously."A little," I admit honestly. "The first time is always the hardest. But after that, it gets easier. And it's an amazing feeling. You'll see."They both stare
