"Who is this? State your name."

The voice on the other end of the mind-link connection quickly responded.

They neither said they believed me nor that they didn't.

Honestly speaking, no one would believe such a claim. Lucien Edmonton was the Alpha of Moonshadow Pack and one of the most powerful Alphas in the entire kingdom.

Who would dare steal his pup and impersonate his mate?

"Layla Langford. Lucien's mate."

There was a three-second silence.

"The Alpha's marking ceremony has not yet taken place. The pack has no Luna on record."

"I know. There wasn't enough time to hold the marking ceremony before he went off to war. He left this mind-link stone to me. He told me to contact you if I ever got into trouble.

"The shewolf who stole our pup is Lisa. She has gray hair, a round face, and freckles on her face.

"She also stole the moonstone necklace Lucien gave me, along with the thirty letters he wrote to me."

I said everything in one breath. My throat was so hoarse that I could barely make a sound after saying all that.

There was another long silence from the other end of the mind-link connection. They seemed to be discussing what I had told them.

Finally, they asked me, "But how do you know her destination is Moonshadow Pack?"

It was because I had died once before.

I took a deep breath. The memories of my previous life were so horrific that I didn't even need to deliberately recall them. I remembered every detail.

When I woke up in my previous life, my pup, the necklace, the letters, and Lisa Summers were all gone.

I dragged my weak body after them, but the door had already been locked.

Lisa was ruthless. She had dumped a massive amount of wolfsbane into the water supply of Greenwood Pack.

My pack members had been completely caught off guard. One after another, they succumbed to the poison and lost their ability to fight.

Lisa then used a fire to burn away every trace of her crime.

I chased after her to Moonshadow Pack with all my strength despite being covered in wounds, only to be thrown out by the warriors as if I were a rogue.

"Luna has already returned with the pup!"

Lisa arrived at Moonshadow Pack with the necklace, Lucien's letters, and our pup. She claimed to be Luna of our pack.

No one suspected her.

Lucien had already returned to the pack by then, but his wolf spirit had been damaged in battle. He had lost his memory and didn't even remember his own name.

He only remembered that he had to bring back a mate named Layla.

He also remembered a promise he had made to me.

"I'll take you home when the moon rises."

Everything Lisa presented was real, and so I watched helplessly as she took my place and became the Luna of Moonshadow Pack.

I also watched helplessly as my own pup addressed her as his mother.

I couldn't tell them the real reason.

If I told them I knew because I had seen it all in my previous life, they would think I was crazy.

"Lisa didn't have any experience since it was the first time she did something like this, so she didn't use enough of the poison.

"Although I couldn't move, I was conscious. I heard her entire plan."

To dispel their doubts, I directly told them about the birthmark on Lucien's groin.

I also told them things Lucien had shared with me about his childhood.

The voice on the other end of the mind-link connection immediately turned serious.

"I'm Beta Simon. Are you safe right now?

"We've already sent werewolves to look for you. Until we reach you, you must protect yourself."

I finally relaxed. I then looked out the window and smiled.

"I will."

Before I met Lucien, I had been the best female warrior in the entire Greenwood Pack.

In my previous life, I had been weakened after giving birth, and the sudden disappearance of my pup had thrown me into a panic.

That was why Lisa had been able to succeed.

A deliberately muffled set of footsteps came from outside the window.

The pungent smell of kerosene seeped through the gap.

Lisa's secret lover had arrived.

In my previous life, he had helped Lisa poison the water supply with wolfsbane and betrayed our pack.

He had caused the deaths of every werewolf in our pack.

Just as he was about to set the fire, I drew my bow to its full length inside the room.

Thud!

The figure outside was struck in the forehead by an arrow and collapsed to the ground.

The door was suddenly slammed open, and my best friend, Ella Lesley, ran inside.

"Layla! Are you okay?"

I looked at her, and she immediately picked up on the expression on my face.

"It was Fenrir.

"The other pack members are fine too. Some of them were poisoned, but we have the situation under control."

I finally let out a sigh of relief.

After realizing I had returned to the past, I immediately formed a mind-link connection with my best friend in the pack and warned her that the water supply had been poisoned.

At last, I could no longer hold myself up. Everything went black, and I collapsed.
