The last couple of hours at the park were no better with the horror rides, but as thanks for putting myself through that torture, Kain promised me anything I wanted. I was not taking full advantage of that promise by snuggling up to him on the drive home. My head resting on Kain’s shoulder as he smoothed his fingers through my hair.

Drake has put up the privacy screen to give us some time for ourselves.

“Seems you’re enjoying this,” Kain murmurs as he looks down at me with a gentle smile. I make a low hum of agreement, closing my eyes blissfully. I can’t believe how lucky I am, but I feel like I am on top of the world. Sleep could practically claim me right now. However, we are almost home, which is a shame. I really wish we could have much longer together just having this sweet moment between us. Right now, everything is absolute perfection.
