Chapter 5

“What the hell?” Livia expressed her frustration. For the past two weeks, she has been actively avoiding George, yet that persistent individual continues to bother her both at home and in the workplace.

At this very moment, George is incessantly bothering her door, despite the late hour of ten in the evening. Fatigue has already settled into her ears from the incessant knocking. Despite this weariness, she chooses not to grant herself respite by opening the door, allowing the man to proceed with his desires.

With a swift motion, she grasped the phone and promptly dialed the number of the security guard stationed on the ground floor. “Sir, could you please get this man out of the building? It’s now ten o’clock, and he’s still disturbing my sleep! Take note that he should not be allowed to enter this building.” In a fit of anger, she directed her words towards the security guard.

“All right, ma’am. Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it right away,” the security guard replied.

She went near her door and listened to the scenario after hanging up the phone and thanking them. The security guard, true to their words, was hauling George.

“What the hell? In that room, my girlfriend resides!” George attempted to employ his powers of logic and persuasion in order to sway them to his point of view.

The securities shake their heads disapprovingly. “Sir, Miss Carlos called us to let you out of this building. You’re already bothering not only the owner of that room but also her neighbors,” they said.

However, George possesses strong determination and a sense of self-assurance. He attempted to raise his voice and summon her. “Livia! Please open the door. What seems to be troubling you? You seem to be avoiding my calls and texts!” The man’s loud voice echoed through the air, catching the attention of Livia’s neighbors. Curiosity piqued, and they opened their doors to see what was causing such a commotion.

“Tell me what I did wrong so that I can fix it!” George added.

‘The issue lies with you initially!’ She had the desire to share her thoughts, yet she chose to remain composed as she gently nodded and slightly opened the door.

George attempted to take the security guard’s hands away. “Go home, George. I have no desire to engage in conversation with you today,” she declared icily, before promptly retreating to her flat without so much as a passing glance in George’s direction.

She trembles with fury as she recalls the actions of George, unable to banish the memory from her mind. Livia had no desire to lay eyes on his face or experience his presence before her.

The man found himself taken aback by her attitude, but she simply dismissed it, as it was time for her to return to slumber. Just as she was about to rest once more, her gaze fell upon Letty’s thoughtful present. It was a token meant to serve as a constant reminder of that unpleasant individual.

With swift movements, Livia snatched it from its place and promptly discarded it in the trash. “Remind her face!” With a determined expression, she uttered through clenched teeth.

At this moment, she has come to the realization that the alarm clock is quite bothersome, particularly due to the individual who bestowed it upon her.

Afterwards, she swiftly began a search for the remaining items given to her by George and Letty. Despite the late hour, she remained focused and made efficient use of her time.

Getting rid of those unwanted items brings a sense of tranquilly. Numerous items were removed from the place where she had stored them.

She unveiled an entire box filled with various items. When Livia witnessed how Letty and George made a mockery of her with the gifts they handed her, her jaw fell.

She wore clothes that were no longer in style, along with accessories that caused others to chuckle. ‘Am I truly so innocent that I fail to perceive how those individuals are manipulating me, causing me to appear foolish and providing amusement for others?’ She pondered the question in her own mind.

Livia plans to remove the trash tomorrow. In the meantime, she has placed it outside her room to avoid being reminded of its contents.

Livia glanced at her phone, noticing the time displayed as eleven in the evening. Knowing the late hour, she acknowledged the need to return to sleep. She attempted to shut her eyes, allowing her awareness to guide her into a state of sleep.

After a while, Livia manages to sleep soundly, even though her slumber falls short of the recommended six hours. Today, she had the pleasure of utilizing a car that belonged to the company. She, being an employee of considerable size, was granted the privilege of utilizing a company-owned vehicle.

The car was parked in the company’s parking lot, and with great care, she stepped out of the vehicle. Livia walked with a light step as she made her way into the building. As is customary, the guards extend their greetings to her.

Livia’s morning was going fine until George’s face suddenly appeared before her in the early hours. The sight of George’s face immediately ruined her mood.

“Good morning, baby!” The man attempted to approach her, leaning in for a kiss on her cheeks. However, she skillfully evaded his advances.

“George, it’s important for you to be aware that this space is designated as an office. Please leave your manners outside the company,” she scolded the man.

Stunned, George stood in front of her. As the man comprehended her words, a subtle transformation took place in his countenance.

“Livia, what seems to be the issue? For days on end, you have been evading my presence without any apparent justification. We lacked any justification for engaging in conflict.” The man raised his voice, causing their colleagues to turn their heads.

Livia fixed her gaze upon the man, her eyes filled with intensity, and then proceeded to scan her surroundings. “George, please refrain from making me look foolish. You are well aware of your actions,” she replied to him.

The man’s brow furrowed, revealing a hint of surprise in his expression as he spoke. Livia was tormenting the man. “I don’t see any reason to keep this relationship going. I am ending our relationship,” she declared.

What he heard from her surprised the man. George had believed that she was willing to kneel for him, as he thought she was deeply in love with him.

The man let out a nervous laugh. “Livia, please refrain from jesting with me. Indeed, the hour is early in the morning. Perhaps you found yourself waking up on the opposite side of the bed once more.” The woman gazed intently at the man. Her face revealed no trace of humour. George’s gaze shifted to her, his expression growing serious as he realized she wasn’t joking.

“Tell me, you’re breaking up with me because I declined your marriage proposal, right?” George expressed his thoughts.

Livia was on the verge of slapping herself after hearing George’s words. Indeed, it was due to her foolish nature that she was the individual who initially suggested the idea of marriage to George.

In her haste, she yearned to swiftly escape the clutches of that mortifying memory.

“No, my decision to break up is not based on that particular reason. Rather, it is because my feelings for you have gone,” she candidly conveyed to George.

Having been previously stunned and surprised, the man’s jaw now dropped, seemingly expressing his silent disapproval.

“Do you believe that I will simply acquiesce to that? No!” he exclaimed. George retorted, but Livia, being the change, simply grinned and snorted.

“Just believe what you want to believe, George, for as far as I’m concerned, you and I are done! The discussion has reached its conclusion.” Livia spoke firmly, not giving the man a chance to respond.

Livia swiftly pivoted away from the man and proceeded forward without glancing over her shoulder. George stood there, his mind filled with disbelief and confusion. This was the second time he had been left dumbfounded, unable to comprehend the events that had just unfolded before him. He never anticipated that the very things he used to do with Livia were now happening to him.
