The next two days, Nathania came to school to see that Power bike always in her spot. At first, she had thought she would see the owner during one of the classes or even at recess but none of that had happened and it wasn’t helping if the bike was gone as soon as school was over. Someone was coming with it obviously but she just doesn’t know who. Everyone was talking about a ghost student that drives the bike during recess and while they were all excited about the idea, she was annoyed. Not only was the person taking her favorite spot, the person was playing hide and seek with her.
Warm arms wrapping around her neck and a kiss on her cheek woke her up from her thought and she looked up to see Teresa smiling down at her with her platinum hair flying down her shoulder. “Hey handsome,” she cooed, “thinking about me?”
She smiled, giving her her killer smile. “Always baby girl, always.”
Teresa chuckled and walked around, taking the seat opposite her. She leaned over and grabbed the burger on Nathania’s plate, taking a bite from it. “As much as I love that, I know you were not thinking about me. So tell me handsome, who is in your mind?”
“The ghost student,” Nathania replied.
“Oh,” Teresa’s eyes fell, “him.”
Something about the way she acted told Natania she would be revealing the mystery of this ghost student through her and so she sat up and raised an eyebrow, making sure to offer her best seductive glance. “Something tells me you know ‘him’.”
“Of course I do,” she rolled her eyes. “He is my cousin.”
Her words shocked Natania, “cousin? You never told me you have a cousin.”
“You never asked and besides, I have more than one. But Xavier is the oldest, he is older than me by a year too.”
“How come I have never seen him before then?”
“Because he arrived on Sunday and started school on Tuesday,” she groaned, “trust me, he is the worst.”
“He started school but hardly stay in the school.”
“Oh, he is here alright, trust me, we just don’t know where. He is good at finding hiding places everywhere he goes.”
Nathania frowned at that, “why?”
“So that he can sleep, he LOVES to sleep. A lot.” She shook her head, “you either find him playing his guitar or sleeping. Seriously, he does nothing else but the two.”
Nathania chuckled, the guy’s life was interesting and now hearing all she heard, her interest to find him only seem to increase. She glanced around the cafeteria, hoping to see him poke in or just show himself, she knew she would know him at sight, someone like him must definitely be hard to miss. And from Teresa’s description of him, he was sure to be carrying a guitar around, even though that won’t be allowed in school.
However, she didn’t find him, instead, she was called by one of her teammates for basketball practice. She had always loved playing basketball and due to her charade, she was able to bag captain of the male’s basketball team. Who cares anyway since she is good at what she does and an excellent Point Guard. She stood up and leaned over the table to kiss Teresa on the cheek and as Teresa turned sharply to kiss her on the lips, she was able to avoid the sneak attack and grinned seeing her pouting face. “Not today, baby,” she chuckled and turned to jog to her team. She maybe dressing as a boy for fun and to grab attention but she was definitely not a lesbian and she doubts Teresa would willingly kiss her if she should find out her very big secret.

Natania pulled in in front of a big gate and after some seconds, the gates opened and she drove in and nodded at the black-haired security man who greeted her as well, after all, she was almost a regular to the house. Pulling over behind the pink beetle, she killed the engine and got down from the truck. She ran her fingers through her hair, indirectly making sure that her wig was in place and everything was okay before she walked over to the front door of the mansion. She rung the bell and waited for some seconds before the door opened to reveal an elderly butler who smiled softly on seeing her.
“Master Oliver, how nice of you to join us today,” he said.
Nathania smiled and replied in her deep voice, “hello, Bengamin, long time no see.”
“You were here last week Saturday,” Bengamin said, stepping aside for her to enter.
“And today is Thursday, next tomorrow will make it a week I last saw you, isn’t it long then?” she winked and chuckled.
“Ms. Teresa is in her room, I will call her to let her know you are here.”
“Oh, that won’t be necessary Benji, I know my way around,” and with that, she jogged to the double stairs and started climbing up two stairs at a time.
“Stop calling me that,” Bengamin whispered under his breath but he stood erect and walked off like he hadn’t said anything.
As Nathania walked down the hallway, she came across a slightly open door with a soft music coming out of the room. That was the room she always takes whenever Teresa forced her to stay the day with her which she would always make an excuse to leave at night. She definitely can’t let her granny stay alone at home the whole night. She paused in front of the door, wondering who could be in there and if Teresa has a guest and before she knew it, she found herself pushing open the door and stepping in. The room wasn’t like she remembered, the wall was repainted with a darker color and the trophies that usually decorated it was gone. There was a desk with neatly arranged books on it and everywhere was sparkling clean an arranged.
On the drawer beside the bed was a picture in a frame and she found herself walking up to it. She bent to study the picture and in it was a boy with shoulder length black hair with purple tips. His eyes were deep brown and his jaw was squared and strong. His nose was pointed and his eyes —although cold— was pulling her in. She found herself whistling slowly before saying, “mama mia, who are you?”
“That would be me,” she heard and turned sharply. Standing in front of the bathroom door in a towel was the very face she was staring at in the picture only that he looked more handsome in real life and colder. “And what are you doing here?”
The next day, I couldn’t wait to get to school, more like I couldn’t wait to see Adrian, I had made up my mind last night to tell him today that I love him, yes, I love him and I was going to do so today, immediately I saw him. But what I wasn’t prepared for was what I saw in school, Adrian didn’t come to school. It hurts having your enthusiasm killed like that but I finally consoled myself to tell him tomorrow but he didn’t show up in school too and I didn’t see him for five days straight, including the weekend. That has never happened before and I was getting pretty worried, on Tuesday, I couldn’t take it anymore so on my way home, I dialed his number, wishing for him to answer. He did and my heart heaved a deep sigh of relief, “someone decided to call me,” his cool voice sipped into my ear and I let it travel through my whole being, I have missed him, a lot.“I just want to find out if you are dead or alive.”He chuckled, “have you missed me?”“No,” I rushed to say but then sighed,
“Penny for your thought?” I asked Adrian, he just smiled and shook his head softly. I wanted so badly for him to tell me not to mind what Stacy said, not to listen to her and that he would never do such a thing to me but he didn’t, he didn’t even bring it up. I had to calm my racing heart internally, maybe he felt there was no need to since he won’t be doing it. Maybe he believes that showing me his true intention would be better than exchanging words with girls. Ah I have lost it, now I’m finding excuses for him.“Earth to pigeon,” he whispered.I forced a smile, “I should be saying that to you.”“Really? You are the one who didn’t hear what I said to you just now.”“You said earth to pigeon.”He shook his head and smiled, “before that.”I frowned, I didn’t hear anything else before that, “what is it?”“I asked how would you feel about going for a walk?”“Oh,” I smiled, “I would love to.”Adrian took my hand and led me out of the gymnasium, we walked in the direction of the school fi
I turned sharply to Christy, “now don’t you dare tell me that its a lie because I can see it in the way you look at him. Half the girls if not all the girls in this school looks at him that way.”I heaved a sigh, Christy is my BFF, she wasn’t happy with me after she found out that Adrian had been coming to my room but I never told her, I finally got her to forgive me and now, I don’t think I want to hide anything from her again. Plus, she is the only one I could talk about this stuff with, “is it that obvious?”“Well, if you keep looking at him like that.”“Looking at him like how?”“Like he is the only guy in this room, like you only live for him and all your dressing tonight is just for him and you want him to have his eyes only on you. Girl, been there, done that. But listen, I’m going to start my pep talk again, now this is an advice someone dear has given to me, I know I’m not that kind of a girl but you are Molly, you don’t take shit from anybody and you put whoever that messes
I can’t wait to show you off! Did you hear that? He can’t wait to show us off! My subconscious rambled in my mind, technically, he said he can’t wait to show me off, not us. I corrected her and she rolled her eyes at me, duh? I’m you, remember? Oh yeah, that is correct, I often forget that since she often challenges my thought like another human.“Penny for your thought?” Adrian asked and I glanced at him, our eyes met briefly and he returned his to the road.“Nothing much, I’m just,” I sighed, “nervous, I guess.”“Nervous? Why Pigeon, whatever in the world that would be making you nervous.”“Mostly because this is the first time I’m going to a school dance?” I felt his gaze on me and I looked at him.“What happened, no guy ever asked you?”“That should be I never gave them the chance to. I tend to chase them away before they could even get close to me,” I heaved a sigh, licking my lips.Adrian nodded, his gaze still on the road. I could see the school coming into view. “Still have th
I put on the last pin on my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, I look beautiful, I know, my brown eyes are clear like a chocolate fondue, speaking from Adrian’s term. I loved that comparison, well, mostly because he was the one that made it. I had gone to my parents room and took my mother’s jewelry, it was silver and sparkles in the light, just like my shoes and my dress. I applied my lip gloss which made my lips glow, then I stood up and looked at myself full length in the mirror, I hardly take time to dress myself like this but I know, I just want to be beautiful tonight, I hope I succeed.A knock on my door made me look behind, “yes?” I called and Max entered.“Whoa sis, you look…” he looked from my dress to my shoes then up to my face, “breathtaking.”I smiled at his compliment, gulping, I licked my lips and got the sweet taste of my lip gloss, “you think?”“Of course,” he insisted, “if I was the one going out with you, I would be afraid of you being snatched away from me.”
In the box in my hand was a pair of silver shoes, I looked up at him in shock and he scratched his head. “I wanted to give you something as a thank you for agreeing to go with me to the dance, even though we had a deal that I will leave you alone for seven days,” he rolled his eyes, and that made me chuckle. “but when I saw this on Saturday night, I only thought of you so I got it. I wanted to give it to you on Sunday but I didn’t know how you are going to react so I said on Monday but ended up saying today. I would have postponed it again if not that tomorrow is the dance and I really want you to wear it to the dance,” he licked his lips, “do you like it?”I looked down at the beautiful shoes, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I brought one half out and looked at it, it glistened with the light and reminded me of the sparkles on my dress, it would go well with it. Something on the heel brought my eyes to it and it was a logo I know all too well, a logo that I know he was obsessed with, Lou
