“Oh,” Nathania squeaked and quickly cleared her throat before saying in her deep voice, “didn’t see you there.”
“Of course you didn’t,” the boy answered. He stared at the boy in his room with furrowed brows, he could swear that he had heard him speak with a lighter voice and all of a second, his voice was deep. He stood by the bathroom door, watching him, waiting to hear what he has to say as the reason he was in his room.
“Um,” Nathania cleared her throat once more and pointed at the bedroom door. “The door was opened and um…I normally stay here whenever I visit Teri. With the door open and the music playing, I thought she was here, you know, with her knowing that I’m coming and all that.”
“Mm,” the boy answered and finally step into the bedroom with another towel in his hand which he used to dry his hair. “Well, she is not here, shouldn’t you be leaving?”
“Huh?” Nathania asked, she had been lost staring at his really smooth and strong back and when he turned to her then, her eyes landed on his chest as she involuntarily gulped. What did he say? She wondered and had to blink to stop herself from staring too much. Get it together, get it together, she screamed at herself in her mind. “Oh yes, leave, yeah, I’m about doing that. I’m Oliver,” she said, stretching out her hand for a handshake, “Teresa’s boyfriend.”
“Mm,” the boy nodded and turned to continue wiping his hair.
Rude much? Nathania frowned and awkwardly shake her own hand. “Well, I will assume you are her cousin, Xavier?”
If he heard her, he didn’t show it, he just dropped the wet towel on his bed and reached to the dresser and got a hair oil which he started applying on his hair. Nathania stood there awkwardly and she knew the best thing to do would be to leave his room and give him time to dress up but she found herself lost at admiring him. He wasn’t bulky or too muscular, he was just athletic and it suits him, making him look so mouthwatering. Her eyes trailed down his back to the towel hanging loosely on his waist and she found herself gulping once more and imagining on a crazy scenario that the towel would come loose and give her a clear view of those perfectly round buttocks.
“Are you bi?” she heard and her eyes sprang up to see that he was now staring at her. She found herself praying for the ground to open up and swallow her when she understood the meaning of his question.
“What? Hell no,” she shook her head, telling herself to play it cool. “I was just thinking about something that was definitely not related to you.”
“Mm,” Xavier answered and backed her again. “Teresa is in her room, close the door on your way out.” And with that, he walked past her to the wardrobe on the other side and it wasn’t until he did that did she noticed he was tall, taller than her.
“You are tall!” she found herself exclaiming and that gained her his interest again.
“6’2, what’s wrong with it?”
“Nothing, absolutely nothing, just that not everyone is that tall around here and I am considered part of the few tall people in school,” she cleared her throat.
Xavier stared at the boy in his room once more with a raised eyebrow, he was acting odd and he doesn’t want to look into it. It’s not his business after all and so he turned back to his wardrobe. “This room would be occupied in a long while so don’t bother coming to check for Teresa again. And with that, I am going to have to ask you to leave. I don’t like dressing with people around.”
“Oh yes, sorry, sorry,” she rushed to say and then finally force her legs to move. Getting to the door, she asked, “you drive that BMW power bike right?”
“What’s with it?”
“Nothing, just that the slot you always park in school is mine and I would appreciate if you would stop taking it.”
“I didn’t see your name on it,” he turned to her with his arms crossed on his chest.
Nathania had to force herself not to notice how his muscles flexed with his movement, “well, I’m just telling you. Everybody knows it’s mine.”
“I’m not everybody.”
What? Nathania was getting slightly annoyed, “well it’s mine, you can ask your cousin.”
“The first to come takes it,” Xavier said. He watched the boy, he could see how his nose was about turning red with his flaring anger and he doesn’t know why he actually found that cute. He frowned at his thought and cleared his throat. “Shut the door on your way out,” he turned back to his wardrobe.
Nathania was really angry now and she did shut the door —more like slammed it— on her way out. As she made her way to Teresa’s room, she kept cursing him on her way out and even his perfect body and beautiful hair with purple tips. When she pushed open Teresa’s room, the girl was surprised to see her and quickly jumped in her arms but she was so lost in cursing her sexy cousin that she forgot to catch her and she slumped on the floor, butt first. “What the hell, Oliver,” she cursed.
“Oh, sorry, so sorry,” Nathania bent over to help her up.
“Where was your mind?” Teresa asked annoyed as she got up.
“I’m really sorry. I just bumped into your cousin and let’s just say that he wasn’t that great to talk to.”
“Told you he is the worst,” Teresa replied and walked back to the bed. “But dad said he would be staying her for as much as he wants, so…there is nothing I can do about it.” She shrugged and picked up the exercise book on the bed, “now come help me with this, I have been waiting for you.”
The next day, I couldn’t wait to get to school, more like I couldn’t wait to see Adrian, I had made up my mind last night to tell him today that I love him, yes, I love him and I was going to do so today, immediately I saw him. But what I wasn’t prepared for was what I saw in school, Adrian didn’t come to school. It hurts having your enthusiasm killed like that but I finally consoled myself to tell him tomorrow but he didn’t show up in school too and I didn’t see him for five days straight, including the weekend. That has never happened before and I was getting pretty worried, on Tuesday, I couldn’t take it anymore so on my way home, I dialed his number, wishing for him to answer. He did and my heart heaved a deep sigh of relief, “someone decided to call me,” his cool voice sipped into my ear and I let it travel through my whole being, I have missed him, a lot.“I just want to find out if you are dead or alive.”He chuckled, “have you missed me?”“No,” I rushed to say but then sighed,
“Penny for your thought?” I asked Adrian, he just smiled and shook his head softly. I wanted so badly for him to tell me not to mind what Stacy said, not to listen to her and that he would never do such a thing to me but he didn’t, he didn’t even bring it up. I had to calm my racing heart internally, maybe he felt there was no need to since he won’t be doing it. Maybe he believes that showing me his true intention would be better than exchanging words with girls. Ah I have lost it, now I’m finding excuses for him.“Earth to pigeon,” he whispered.I forced a smile, “I should be saying that to you.”“Really? You are the one who didn’t hear what I said to you just now.”“You said earth to pigeon.”He shook his head and smiled, “before that.”I frowned, I didn’t hear anything else before that, “what is it?”“I asked how would you feel about going for a walk?”“Oh,” I smiled, “I would love to.”Adrian took my hand and led me out of the gymnasium, we walked in the direction of the school fi
I turned sharply to Christy, “now don’t you dare tell me that its a lie because I can see it in the way you look at him. Half the girls if not all the girls in this school looks at him that way.”I heaved a sigh, Christy is my BFF, she wasn’t happy with me after she found out that Adrian had been coming to my room but I never told her, I finally got her to forgive me and now, I don’t think I want to hide anything from her again. Plus, she is the only one I could talk about this stuff with, “is it that obvious?”“Well, if you keep looking at him like that.”“Looking at him like how?”“Like he is the only guy in this room, like you only live for him and all your dressing tonight is just for him and you want him to have his eyes only on you. Girl, been there, done that. But listen, I’m going to start my pep talk again, now this is an advice someone dear has given to me, I know I’m not that kind of a girl but you are Molly, you don’t take shit from anybody and you put whoever that messes
I can’t wait to show you off! Did you hear that? He can’t wait to show us off! My subconscious rambled in my mind, technically, he said he can’t wait to show me off, not us. I corrected her and she rolled her eyes at me, duh? I’m you, remember? Oh yeah, that is correct, I often forget that since she often challenges my thought like another human.“Penny for your thought?” Adrian asked and I glanced at him, our eyes met briefly and he returned his to the road.“Nothing much, I’m just,” I sighed, “nervous, I guess.”“Nervous? Why Pigeon, whatever in the world that would be making you nervous.”“Mostly because this is the first time I’m going to a school dance?” I felt his gaze on me and I looked at him.“What happened, no guy ever asked you?”“That should be I never gave them the chance to. I tend to chase them away before they could even get close to me,” I heaved a sigh, licking my lips.Adrian nodded, his gaze still on the road. I could see the school coming into view. “Still have th
I put on the last pin on my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, I look beautiful, I know, my brown eyes are clear like a chocolate fondue, speaking from Adrian’s term. I loved that comparison, well, mostly because he was the one that made it. I had gone to my parents room and took my mother’s jewelry, it was silver and sparkles in the light, just like my shoes and my dress. I applied my lip gloss which made my lips glow, then I stood up and looked at myself full length in the mirror, I hardly take time to dress myself like this but I know, I just want to be beautiful tonight, I hope I succeed.A knock on my door made me look behind, “yes?” I called and Max entered.“Whoa sis, you look…” he looked from my dress to my shoes then up to my face, “breathtaking.”I smiled at his compliment, gulping, I licked my lips and got the sweet taste of my lip gloss, “you think?”“Of course,” he insisted, “if I was the one going out with you, I would be afraid of you being snatched away from me.”
In the box in my hand was a pair of silver shoes, I looked up at him in shock and he scratched his head. “I wanted to give you something as a thank you for agreeing to go with me to the dance, even though we had a deal that I will leave you alone for seven days,” he rolled his eyes, and that made me chuckle. “but when I saw this on Saturday night, I only thought of you so I got it. I wanted to give it to you on Sunday but I didn’t know how you are going to react so I said on Monday but ended up saying today. I would have postponed it again if not that tomorrow is the dance and I really want you to wear it to the dance,” he licked his lips, “do you like it?”I looked down at the beautiful shoes, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I brought one half out and looked at it, it glistened with the light and reminded me of the sparkles on my dress, it would go well with it. Something on the heel brought my eyes to it and it was a logo I know all too well, a logo that I know he was obsessed with, Lou
