Chapter 42 - Crossing the line

“Where did you learn to cook so well?” Chloe asks staring at me. She’s been staring at me like that since Adira and got home. She keeps asking me random questions to keep the conversation between us going. I do engage with her in the conversation but every time I turn my attention to Adira. She makes sure to ask me something else that will take the attention away from her sister.

To say I feel uncomfortable is an understatement. I feel weirded out too, how can she look at me like that when her sister is right next to me? I’m here for Adira of ‘course but I don’t want to come off as rude to her sister as well. I don’t know why but I feel obligated to keep a balance between the two. I don’t want to give too much attention to Adira that she feels I’m crossing a line. And I don’t want to ignore Chloe as well.
