CHAPTER 4 DISTANCE

ORION KNIGHT POV.

"What do you know?" I questioned him, a little angry. This topic was really sensitive to me. In addition She was my mate. I should be the one to know everything first and It won't surprise me if my anger kills them in future.

"After so many years, why now?" He questioned. I gave him a look to speak more.

"You run the most feared Pack and are respected by every other Pack." He said, his gaze was fixed on me like he wanted to make sure I understood his point.

"I don't think my mate has anything to do with my title." I told him with a straight face and sat on my chair.

"I know Alpha, but it does feel suspicious to me." He spoke getting up from his seat. Kane, who didn't like his words sensed doubts from him.

"It's not your place to be concerned." I said to him and turned my attention to the files.

Kane was the one who suffered the most and now when we finally have the News about my mate I don't think his emotions are going to stop.

"Alpha Xavier and Luna Olivia are in the Mansion" My Beat Collin informed me through mindlink.

" Edward, if there is nothing more to say then I would request you to leave." I told him sharply. Being polite was not my thing but I did it for a few people and it was just my mother.

When he was gone. I got up from my seat and walked towards the door.

"My son!" My mother exclaimed before even the door opened. I opened the door and there she was standing. I hugged her and she hugged me back.

My father came just behind my Mother and I sensed something in his behaviour. He was anxious about something and pacing out.

"You must have got the news?" Mother asked me, I gave her a nod but her eyes turned sad.

"The council had a meeting regarding your mate." Xavier said to me.

"May I know why?" I asked him. My mother didn't like the conversation we were having so she decided to settle down.

"Give me the names?" I asked him, he kept quiet and looked at my mother. I looked at her and she turned her eyes away from both of us.

"They want to investigate her before you two officially meet." Xavier said, I looked at him trying to understand his motive.

"I dare anyone to touch her and I would make sure to give them death." I said to both of them. I was very serious with my words. Kane agreed with me.

"The council has agreed to it and soon the official letter will be stamped." Mother told me, her soft voice has fear in them. It was clear my mother was not supporting this.

"Then I guess I would have to kill the whole council." I spoke emotionlessly.

"Orion…" My father yelled at me. I didn't miss the threat in them. My mother gasped at his tone.

"They are after my mate whom I have not met yet ." I roared at him and he looked at me with displeasure.

"You will maintain your distance from her." Xavier snapped at me. His words were fuming me and I knew it could get worse if one of us didn't stop.

"We'll see that." I said and was about to walk out of the room.

"You will follow the council's decisions no matter what happens!" Xavier said in Alpha's voice with command. A dangerous amount of energy leaking out his body. He never uses them until it's very serious. I gave him a warning look.

"You run seven strongest Pack. It's just for safety." He said but now with a much softer tone.

"You mean my mate could be a Problem?" I asked him. Surprisingly Kane was handling this very well.

"Don't take this the other way." Xavier said, clutching his fist.

"How couldn't I, My Parents stand against her even without meeting her. Everybody knows I have been waiting for her since I turned eighteen and now I'm 800 years old. People wait for their loved ones everyday but I..I with every single breath I take in is a reminder that she must be there out alone suffering and waiting for me." I stop for a brief second and close my eyes.

Flashes of sleepless nights come on the surface. I dreaded everyday thinking I won't be able to see her.

"People have started to call me immortal. Survival was never easy for me. I poured myself into work to keep me occupied but it never worked." I let out all things bolted inside me thinking it would give me a little peace but bolted feelings never disappear.

Kane stopped talking to me. He would only appear where I was going for fights or when he sensed danger. I could sense him losing his control on emotion. When Kane became sad he wished to go swimming on cold rivers until the Icy water blocked his senses.

It's such a rare case my mother used to say about my wolf trying to get his pain away this way. It was hard for me to live but much harder for him to survive.

"Everybody knows I am waiting for her but amidst everybody. You both were the one who had seen me closely. I never thought you would be saying this to me. I don't think I will be able to stay away from her." I tell them feeling disappointed at them but one thing I was very sure about, I was going to be her support.

"Son, I have seen you suffer but there's this unsettling feeling about her news among the ancestors of the Pack. They think she might be a…you know.." My Mother's words got entangled with each other when she could find the right word for it.

"Ancestors received a strange word from the mountains. It was about your Mate. We don't have the entire details yet they sensed a noxious spell in her." Xavier told me and for the first time without thinking much Kane towered over my father.

He might be my father but my wolf was a lot stronger and bigger than his. Kane was making sure my Father knew how serious we were about her. Kane growled at him but my mother jumped in between.

"Stay back both of you" Mother warned us and created space between us.

"I think we shouldn't judge the child. When she comes we all get to meet her. Till then there won't be a word more on this." Mother demanded looking at Xavier.

"I can't guarantee that!" Xavier told her when Kane growled louder, trying to approach him.

My protective side was ready to fight my father. I don't know what will happen when she is near my eyes.
