The Epiphany

Lila awoke to find herself still lying in the hospital bed. She sighed upon realizing that her face was no longer her's. She wondered what had caused this to happen and why she now had someone else's face. When Cynthia, one of Cindy's sisters, noticed that Lila had woken up, she looked at her with concern.

"Are you okay, Cindy?" Cynthia asked.

Lila was perplexed by the question.

"What year is this?" she asked, considering the possibility that she had travelled through time or into the future. Cynthia sighed upon hearing Lila's strange query.

Feeling the need to assess what had actually occurred, Lila expressed the desire to see her reflection.

"I need to use the bathroom," she informed Cynthia, who still appeared to be worried. Cynthia then assist Lila in getting to the bathroom.

When she realize that she was alone in the bathroom, Lila rushed to the mirror, hoping to see her real face. But, she was disheartened when she saw that her face was still Cindy's. The mirror also revealed that her body is not also her's and not only her face .

"I don't understand what has happened," Lila lamented, feeling confused and frustrated.

She began to panic when she considered that she might be the person whom those around her referred to as Cindy.

"Who is this Cindy?" she wondered aloud.

"And where is my body?"

Suddenly, Lila realized something.

"Has my soul gone into someone else's body?" she cried out in realization.

Lila was temporarily stunned by her realization. She had to lean against the sink for support before calming herself down.

After calming down, Lila decided that she needed to locate her original body since she was now residing in someone else's body. She quickly dashed out of the bathroom.

"You!" she almost yelled out, realizing that she did not know Cynthia's name.

"What happened to me? I want to know everything that has occurred."

Cynthia believed that Lila might remember the car crash that had caused her accident and proceeded to explain what had happened.

"Cindy must be the lady I crashed into" Lila thought.

"Where's the car that crashed into Cindy, I mean me?" Lila inquired, curious.

"You were both brought to the hospital," Cynthia replied, not understanding why Lila was asking such a question.

"Where is the lady now? I want to see her," Lila declared, standing up to leave the ward. But Cynthia quickly stop her.

"Cindy, why are you behaving so strangely?" Cynthia asked, looking at her with concern etched on her face.

Lila tried to compose herself, realizing that she was acting odd as Cindy. She let out a sigh, turning to face Cynthia.

"I just want to know what happened to me, I mean the other lady" Lila replied, doing her best to sound calm. Cynthia gazed at Lila's troubled expression and let out a heavy sigh.

"I'm not entirely sure what happened to her, but I heard that she's still unconscious," Cynthia informed her. As Lila heard these words, she stared at Cynthia incredulously.

"That means I'm still unconscious – at least, my body is. And Cindy's soul must still be unconscious too," Lila mused, letting out another sigh.

"I really need to meet the lady who crashed into Cindy – into me. I'm begging you," Lila implored. Cynthia looked at her for a moment before letting out a concerned sigh.

"If that's what you want," she muttered, unsure of how to tell Lila that Rosy had explicitly warned them against getting involved with the matter of the accident because Rosy has paid for the medical bill and damages.

"Can you take me to the lady's ward?" Lila asked impatiently.

"Cindy, you should focus on getting better before worrying about anything else," Cynthia tried to persuade her, avoiding Lila's question.

Lila got discharged from the hospital and was still unable to see her own body. As Cindy, she knew that she was powerless and wouldn't be allowed to see her body anytime soon, so she gave up on pushing the issue.

On the day of her discharge, Lila saw Rosy at the hospital entrance and rushed to her.

"Aunt Rosy" Lila called.

Rosy was confused by Lila's behavior, unaware that Lila's soul had taken over Cindy's body.

"Who are you?" Rosy demanded.

Lila blinked her eyes, forcing a bitter smile as she realized that she was no longer Lila but Cindy. Cindy's family quickly intervened, trying to stop Lila, but she managed to come up with an excuse.

"I apologize for the confusion. I am deeply grateful for your kind gesture of paying my bills," Lila said, bowing her head in appreciation. She couldn't risk revealing her true identity to Rosy and decided to express gratitude for the payment instead.

"It's no problem at all," Rosy replied before walking away, ignoring Lila.

Lila watched as Rosy entered the hospital, and Cindy's family looked at her with concern, interpreting Lila's behavior as a sign of her worsening condition.

Upon arriving at Cindy's home, Lila realized that she had no choice but to continue living as Cindy. Cindy's family wasn't as affluent as Lila, who had always lived a luxurious life. But, Lila was determined to find a way back to her own body, even though she had no idea why their souls had swapped.

She pondered over how she could gain entry into the ward where her body lay. Suddenly, a solution came to her and she smirked. Even though she was now inhabiting Cindy's physical body, Lila's mind was still her own. As such, she resolved to go to Rosy's residence covertly to see if she could find a way to access the ward where her body was being kept.

That evening, Lila secretly enter Rosy's home with ease, using the password she knew and avoiding detection by the security system. She knew that by that time, Rosy would likely still be out of her abode, and she planned to find a way into the ward and back out before she returned.

Lila had informed Cindy's family that she needed some fresh air, assuring them that she would be able to go out on her own. Once outside, she made her way to Rosy's house.

Lila quickly started searching the house for anything that might aid her in reaching her body, thinking that the solution to her predicament might be hidden away somewhere in the house. She happened to set her eyes on some invitation cards lying on a desk in Rosy's room, of an impending cocktail party hosted by Rosy.

Lila found this surprising, given that her body was still in a coma in the hospital and Rosy wants to hold a party. She picked up the invitation card, scanning its contents for any useful information on the party. As she sifted through the invitation cards, Lila heard Rosy coming up to her room and panicked, unsure of what to do next.

Just then, she heard Rosy entering the room, realizing Rosy has arrived, as Rosy only could access her bedroom like that.

Lila panicked, but she quickly slipped behind a chair, concealed from view. While hiding, she overheard Rosy conversing with someone over the phone.

"I told you to only tamper with the brakes; where did the van come from?" Rosy speak worriedly.

Lila was taken aback by Rosy's conversation, and squeezed her face in shock.

"Alright, just lay low until I get in contact with you. Do you understand?" Rosy said and ends the call hissing.

"So troublesome" Rosy sigh and start changing her clothes muttering to herself about the mess she had to deal with.

Rosy breathed a heavy sigh and began taking off her clothing, irritated by the inconvenience.

Lila suddenly realized something and almost exclaimed,

"Does this mean that Aunt Rosy had something to do with my accident as well?" She quickly covered her mouth to prevent being caught.

Lila knew that getting out of the place was her top priority for now. Rosy eventually entered the bathroom, providing Lila with the chance to escape. As soon as she heard the shower start, Lila crept out of the room quietly and successfully slipped away before being caught.

On getting out, Lila looked down at her hand and saw the invitation card she had been holding. It was at this point Lila had an epiphany.

"I must attend this party," she said angrily, knowing that Rosy was involved in her car accident.

Lila had no doubt in her mind that Rosy has attempted to kill her in that car accident without hesitation as she killed her parents.

Lila then decided to go to the cocktail party organized by Rosy, which she had discovered through invitation cards she found in Rosy's room.
