Stephen understood what Emma felt for him but he could not take any more risk. He wanted to somehow keep Emma by his side until Vlad appeared. He was ready to pretend and manipulate her more just to keep her on his side.
Stephen broke the kiss and looked at Emma. The kiss had not changed anything. She was unhappy and still probably wanted to stay away from him. He pulled her into his arms. He knew he was wrong but he had no choice. In the past, he never thought of playing with someone's feelings but now a certain situation propelled him to do this.

Emma took her food tray from a pretty woman at the counter and looked around for an empty seat, in the cafeteria. She wanted to sit alone this time but the cafeteria was already full of students.
