CHAPTER FIVE

“Man, that is fucked up, I mean all this while I have known your dad as your dad but seems like he was only staying with you guys because of your mom, no wonder he left, I am so sorry man” Dan said as we sat in the living room, my aunt had not arrived yet and we were sort of still waiting for her to com so we would know the way forward, I dint have any cash with me, not any sort of money that could help me with my mom’s burial, so we sort of had to wait for her, it was a few minutes past ten and I was sure she was going to arrive sooner

“I know man, I just don’t know to do with my two little sisters, they are the only family left and I am not old enough to take good care of them, I mean I don’t have a stable to provide for them, they are way too younger, I just don’t know and now the only job that I had, that stupid boss just fired me and it is not like it was my fault, I just missed going to job today and he fucking fired me, he must have a grudge with me or maybe I just don’t know, who knows? Some people can be so evil that you wonder why they still do exist in this world, but we don’t have the right to choose who to stay and who not to” I said with my face in my hands and he parted me on my shoulders 

“I am so sorry man, but that doesn’t matter right now, what matters is the fact that you are here now and you are alive, you have to take care of your younger sisters, they are looking up to you because you are their only parent left, so you have to show them that you are strong even though you not but you can’t show them the weak side when they are looking up to you, you have friends who care for you and they would do anything to see you happy so I see no need for you to be worried, I will help whenever I can, I know I am not well enough to extend my help but you are my friend, we have grown up together and we have seen each other grow so the little I have will share with you, right now let us lay your mom to rest then you can start worrying about the other things later, I got you man” Dan said and I smiled, he was the only friend I had made in the whole neighborhood, I was not always a social person so I only had few friends and by that I mean they were almost countable

“I get it man, you know I am still in shock with the turn of events but I will get used to the situation, I just need time to consume everything and you know? Figure out how we are going to survive and all that” I said and he nodded in agreement and just then the door bell rang. “I will get that” I said as I stood up from the couch and headed towards the door and when I opened it, I dint expect to see her at the door, I mean it had been months since we last spoke, we had a nasty break up but there she was looking all beautiful in a long black off shoulder dress, she was as beautiful as I could remember and I found myself taking a deep breath before speaking, she still somehow made me feel butterflies in my stomach, her presence always made me uneasy, it is normal because I loved her and didn’t nothing but she broke up with me, it was not my fault though so I had no grudge against her

“What are you doing here? Have you come here to laugh at me or what?” I asked my hands akimbo and she just smiled and cleared her throat before speaking

“I rushed here the moment I heard the news, I am sorry for your loss Dylan, your mom was the sweetest human being I had come across, I am not here to laugh at you, I am here to spent time with you at this hard time, I am here to bereave your mom with you, she was a sweet human being and I can’t just let what is between us make me miss her burial, I just came here to say my good bye to her, I didn’t come here to offend you or any other thing, I am here to mourn the loss of Mrs. Kayla, she was everyone’s favorite” she said and I just nodded and let her in

You know we had grown up with Ivanna and Dan as my best friends, Ivanna was Dan’s step sister, the two didn’t quite get along because apparently Ivanna was her dad’s favorite and since Dan’s mom passed away, Ivanna took her step brother’s place in his father’s heart, Dan was always struggling to make an ends meet, he would always work his ass off to get his own cash for his extra money, his dad only paid fees but the walking queen always got what she wanted, she was always mimicking my best friend and I wondered how I even fall for her, she was like a goddess, very beautiful and was also the school’s most beautiful girl and was every guy’s attention at school, I still don’t know how I won her over and she became my girl, we dated for almost a year before she nastily broke up with me in front of her group of friends and in front of the whole college, I was the laughing stock for the whole weeks but I finally got used to everything 

“And who invited this wicked Delilah here? Have you come to torment again? What is always wrong with you Ivanna?” Dan asked the moment she walked in and she sneered

“Not everything is about you dear sweet brother, I am here because of Dylan’s mom ad not you, the world doesn’t always revolve around you sweetheart, I hate both of you but I am her because of you mother Dylan and not you, your mom was a good woman and I would miss her send off because of your wicked hearts or stupid grudges, you can always assume I am not here anyway it is not like I matter anyway” she said and plopped herself on the couch and I sighed as I resumed my seat 

“Dylan is that Ivanna?” Melissa asked and I internally groaned, my two sisters were always obsessed with her, I don’t know what she did but they would always ask for her and when we broke up and they couldn’t see her for a while, I had to lie to them that she had travelled to England to see her mother

“Yes, it is me sweetheart come on and say hi and I had missed you two little champs” she said with a smile paltered on her lips and Dan sneered, just the Alicia and Melissa walked in to the living room from their room that was just across from the living room and they immediately ran to where Ivanna was seated and both hugged her

“Dylan said that had gone to see your mom in England, are you back for good now?” Alicia asked and Ivanna looked at me then back to hr and smiled and I cursed internally, kids could not just keep a secret

“Yes of course, I had gone to see my mom but I am now back for good, won’t leave your side ever, how are you doing? I came here immediately I heard the news, I am so sorry” she said and hugged them and Alicia started sobbing, I hated to see her cry, she was still too young to live without mom, she needed the mothers love and I don’t know if I was in a god position to provide both to her, she was way too young to understand what was going on

“Shush, I am sorry why don’t we go to my car, I brought you two something that might cheer you up plus we can go to the lake and you guys can tell me how you have been doing all the time I have been away, what do you say?” she asked and I saw Melissa smile

“Sounds like a good idea, I am in, Alicia lets us get going” Melissa said and the two stood up from the couch and followed Ivanna out 

“I am taking them out for a walk, I hope you don’t mind, we will be back before you even know it” Ivanna said with a wink and it is not like I had a choice, I personally didn’t know how to calm them down, they were my sisters but dealing with them at that time was difficult to me, I didn’t even know how I was going to break the new to them, the news about our biological dad, everything was just messed up

“Of course not” I said and they walked out happily, it was good to see the two smile just for second
