Roman POV

Standing in the dark shadows outside her house, watching the new guy drive away. The sleek black sports car vanished around the corner and took the only source of light with it. The deep hum of the expensive engine faded into the freezing night air.

I stepped out from behind the massive oak tree on the edge of her manicured lawn. The thick frost crushed loud under my heavy boots. My throat throbbed with a dull ache where Dante had pinned my windpipe against the concrete wall.

The humiliation burned hot in my chest. He had marched into my arena and dismantled my best players. Then he stole my girl right in front of my face. I spat a mouthful of bitter blood onto the pristine driveway.

Sienna belonged to me. She was my trophy and my obedient possession. I spent two solid years breaking down her fragile boundaries. I made sure she never looked at another man.

Tonight she rode around in luxury sports cars with a total stranger. She let him touch her in front of the empty stadium. The thought made my blood boil with a toxic heat.

I began the long march up her winding driveway. The massive iron gates were shut tight. I knew the security code by heart. I punched the numbers into the keypad with brute force and shoved the heavy metal open.

The sprawling estate was dead quiet. Her father was overseas on an extended business trip. She was all alone in this massive stone fortress. She thought she was safe behind these thick walls.

She thought she could humiliate me in public and just go to sleep. I stared up at her dark bedroom window on the second floor. A faint glow flickered behind the expensive curtains.

"You are going to pay for this," I whispered to the cold wind. I reached the bottom of the steep stone steps leading to her front porch. I took them two at a time. My anger propelled me forward with reckless momentum.

My knuckles throbbed from punching the plexiglass earlier. I ignored the sharp pain. I needed to see the fear in her eyes again. I needed to restore the balance of power.

I reached the top of the landing and stopped. The thick oak door stood between us. The heavy brass knocker stared back at me like a silent challenge. I did not bother using it.

Sienna thought Dante was her new savior. She believed that dark freak could shield her from my reach. I needed to remind her who held the keys to her family secrets.

I raised my fist and brought it down hard against the solid wood. The impact echoed like a gunshot in the silent neighborhood. I struck the door again. The heavy thud vibrated through the soles of my boots.

"Sienna!" I roared, the sound tearing from my raw throat. "Open this door right now!"

I waited three seconds. No answer came from inside the dark house. The silence only fueled my explosive rage.

I pounded both fists against the oak surface. The wood groaned under the immense pressure of my assault. "I know you are awake in there!"

I leaned close to the thick doorframe. I pressed my mouth near the lock. "Your new boyfriend left you all alone. He is not here to protect you anymore."

I heard a faint creak from the floorboards inside. She was standing right on the other side of the heavy door. I could sense her terror radiating through the thick wood.

"Open the door, Sienna," I demanded with a dangerous sneer. "If you make me break a window to get inside, I will make this ten times worse for you."

She remained silent. Her refusal to obey a direct command felt like a physical slap across the face. The obedient girl I molded was trying to rebel.

I stepped back and kicked the bottom of the door with my steel toe boot. The entire frame shuddered from the brutal impact. "Do not test me tonight!"

"Go away, Roman," her voice trembled through the solid oak. It was weak and thick with unshed tears. "Just leave me alone."

Hearing her pathetic whimper brought a sick smile to my face. Her fake bravery from the arena was gone. She was terrified of me again.

"You do not get to dismiss me," I yelled. I slammed my palm flat against the wood. "You embarrassed me in front of my team. You owe me a real explanation."

"I have nothing to say to you," she cried out from the other side. "I am done. The relationship is over."

"I decide when we are done!" I screamed, kicking the doorframe again. "You are my girlfriend until I say otherwise. Now unbolt this lock before I lose my temper!"

"If you do not leave my porch right now, I will call the police," Sienna threatened. Her voice cracked under the weight of her own bluff.

I laughed a harsh, ugly sound. The noise cut through the freezing air. "Call the police, Sienna. Go ahead and invite the authorities into your home."

I leaned my forehead against the cold wood. "Let the police come. Let them ask questions about your sick father. Let them look at the illegal offshore accounts I know about."

A dead, suffocating silence fell over the porch. I knew I had hit the ultimate nerve. I held the absolute destruction of her family legacy in the palm of my hand.

"You would not," she whispered. The fight drained out of her voice.

"Test me," I challenged, raising my heavy fist once more. "Open this door in the next three seconds. If you refuse, I will send the files to the press right now."

I pulled my phone out of my pocket. I held the glowing screen up to the peephole. I wanted her to see the threat. I wanted her to know I was not bluffing.

"One," I counted loud and clear. My thumb hovered over the send button.

The porch light remained off. The wind howled around the stone pillars. I could hear her ragged breathing on the other side of the door.

"Two," I spat, my patience running bone dry.

She still did not turn the deadbolt. My blood roared in my ears. I raised my other fist, ready to shatter the decorative glass panels lining the entryway.

I was going to get inside this house tonight no matter what. He bangs violently on her front door, demanding she let him inside immediately.

Roman POV How much more disrespect was I supposed to tolerate in my own territory? Watching them touch from down the hall set my blood boiling with pure jealousy. I stood frozen at the intersection of the crowded academic corridor. My hands clenched into tight fists inside the pockets of my letterman jacket. I watched Dante lean close and press his large fingers against her fragile hand. The intimate gesture made my vision blur with a toxic red haze. Sienna belonged to me. She was my trophy, my quiet supporter, and my obedient property. I did not spend two years breaking her down just to watch a dark freak claim her in public. She looked up at him with those wide doe eyes I used to control. The terrified girl I cornered in her grand foyer last night was gone. She looked completely mesmerized by the arrogant transfer student. I could not let this public humiliation continue for another second. I shoved off the brick wall and marched down the center of the hallway. I lowered my sho

Sienna POV Walking toward Dante's locker the very next morning made me feel like a complete traitor. The heavy weight of my guilt threatened to crush my chest with every single step. My stomach twisted into sharp knots under my thick winter sweater. The university hallway buzzed with loud conversations and slamming metal doors. Students rushed past me in a chaotic blur of backpacks and winter coats. I kept my head down and focused on the scuffed tile floor to avoid making eye contact with anyone. Roman broke into my house last night and backed me into a terrifying corner. He held the absolute destruction of my sick father right in the palm of his hand. He threatened to expose our offshore accounts to the federal authorities if I refused his demands. I traded my own morals to keep my family safe from his wrath. I became the exact kind of manipulative liar I always despised. The bitter taste of my own cowardice coated my tongue. I stopped walking when I spotted Dante at the end of

  • Iced Out: Playing the Ice King    Chapter 13

Dante POV Never leave a dangerous threat breathing when he knows where your greatest vulnerabilities sleep at night. That is the first rule of corporate warfare my father beat into my skull. You eliminate the problem before the problem finds a way to strike back. Sitting in my dark car parked down the street, I watched Roman storm off her porch. He yanked the heavy front door shut behind him with a deafening crash. His heavy boots stomped down the stone steps as he descended into the freezing night. He marched down the winding driveway with his chest puffed out in false victory. The coward just spent twenty minutes terrorizing a fragile girl behind closed doors. I gripped the leather steering wheel until the thick material groaned under the severe pressure. My blood burned with a consuming, white hot fire. I wanted to step out of the vehicle and cross the dark street. I wanted to break his neck on the pristine asphalt and end his miserable existence. But a dead body in front of h

Sienna POV Safety is just a fragile illusion built by rich men behind tall stone walls. I spent my entire life believing this massive estate could protect me from the outside world. The intricate security systems and iron gates were supposed to keep the monsters at bay. But the true monsters do not pick the locks on the front gate to get inside. You invite them through the front door because they convince you they are the only ones who can keep the other wolves away. Flinching at the aggressive knocking echoing through my quiet house, I pulled my heavy cardigan tighter around my chest. The thick oak door rattled in its sturdy frame with every brutal strike. Roman was out there screaming his terrifying countdown into the freezing wind. "Three!" his voice boomed through the solid wood. I squeezed my eyes shut and reached for the cold brass deadbolt. I had no other choice left. If I let him hit send on that phone, my sick father would go straight to federal prison. I threw the lock

Dante POVNever demand a bleeding survivor to explain their fresh wounds before you have completely secured the perimeter. That was a basic rule of tactical interrogation I learned entirely too late. I watched her beautiful eyes widen with pure, unadulterated panic the second I asked her about her painful trauma. She pulled completely away from my gentle grip and pressed her back aggressively against the passenger window. She could not handle the sudden intimacy or the terrifying reality of exposing her deepest secrets to a new stranger. She looked at me like I had just transformed back into the dangerous monster she saw on the ice."Just take me home," she whispered desperately, staring blindly at the dark dashboard of my car. "Please, Dante, just drive me to my house right now and let me sleep."I did not push her any further or demand the answers I was technically owed for saving her life tonight. I simply unlocked the heavy doors, shifted the sports car back into drive, and pulle
