I sat in the dark room, my hands trembling. I was alone, the ropes were gone, but I was still trapped. The sound of my loud breathing was the only sound that could be heard. I couldn’t help but feel like the walls were closing in around me.

What had I gotten myself into? I didn’t want to think about Dawson, about what he might do next. All I wanted was to get out of here and get back to Micah. But there was no way out, no windows, no doors except the one Dawson had left through.

I heard footsteps outside the door, and my heart jumped into my throat. Was it Dawson coming back to finish what he started? But when the door creaked open, it wasn’t Dawson’s stern face that stepped in. It was someone I hadn’t expected at all; Micah.
