“You knew I would be worried with how unreachable you've been and you didn't think of trying to call me? Tess, why are you doing all this? Did I offend you?” Wes says immediately I pick up the call, as though he has all the words he wishes to say prepared in his mind beforehand.

“It's not the way you think it is,” I say, my voice shaking as I try to speak calmly.

I am actually terrified by how offended he must be for him to call me immediately after I got back online.
