Chapter 6

Liam sat in silence as the car drove further and further to his mate his. His wolf was beyond delighted that they were finally going to be reunited again and was on edge, but Liam was able to keep his wolf in check and stay relaxed. He had this feeling also. Fear? was that it? Fear of seeing her again? Fear that he was going to hurt her like he did before? He would never forget the way she had looked at him the day she had left the Palace. There was pain in her eyes and he could also see it...how much he cared for him, but he was too big of a fool to stop her ans instead had to let her go only to leave in regret for the past few months. He had not been himself since she left and felt like it was the shell of his real self. He had not been himself for centuries, but with her, it was far worse. Spending just a few months away from her was far more torturous than the last centuries he has spent. He had tried his best to convince himself that it was just the mate bond between them, but he knew better.

He sighed deeply, and Devon, who was sitting close, glanced at him. "Is everything all right, Liam?" Devon couldn't stop himself from asking any longer... He knew Liam wasn't the kind to talk about his feelings, but he was worried. It was like he was far off somewhere else, and only his body was here. "I'm fine," Liam answered simply, his eyes on the road. He had a deep frown on his face, Devon noticed. "No, you are not," Devon muttered, but Liam heard him and finally turned to look at his younger brother. "What are you trying to say?" Liam asked, and Devon scoffed. "You don't look fine. I had a talk with Lilac last night. she is worried about you. everyone is worried about you. You..." Devon trailed off and sighed.

"If you knew this would take such a toll on you. why did you let her go?" Devon asked. He was trying hard to understand Liam, but sometimes it was hard. He had purposely decided on riding with Liam after A talk with Lilac the previous night. He didn't want to interfere, but now he couldn't stop himself. Someone needed to talk some sense into the king!

Liam looked away from Devon. "I didn't want to hurt her any further," He answered after a while in a low voice. Devon sighed and ran his hand through his hair. if he had done the same thing, he would have broken things off with Alice, and she wouldn't be his soon to be wife and mother of his child. Even though the traumatising memory of him marking her was a scar forever. He loved her much more each passing day and couldn't bear the thought of not seeing her for months like Liam. He would go mad and wouldn't be able to bear it. But his brother here was having the worst internal battle, and it was beginning to show on his physical appearance.

"Do you think she wouldn't be more hurt that you didn't stop her or try to look for her?" Devon said, and after that, silence reigned between the both of them. Kace glanced at the alpha through the rear view mirror and smiled slightly, and Devon glanced at Liam and shook his head. He knew he wasn't going to give him an answer. He was probably self reflecting and guilty again...

Liam's eyes remained closed for the next few hours as they drove. His hand was crossed around his chest, and he looked to be asleep, but he was far from sleep. He had been far from sleep. He was startling to feel it, her presence, it was faint, but the more they inched closer, the more he felt it. His wolf itched for her, and he wanted to hold her so tight in his arms and tell her he was sorry. He wanted.... He wanted her to be his queen. His eyes immediately flew as the car came to a halt.

"We are here," Devon said to him coldly and got out of the car. But he still remained seated...

Mrs Wilson walked to her window and pushed the curtain aside to see what was going on. Her eyes shone with curiosity as she watched about three cards drive past her house towards Joan's house. What was going on! this was one of the rarest sight to witness here. her curiosity got the better of her, and she walked hurriedly to her front door and came outside with a book in her hands so she would appear busy and nit just nosy. Her eyes travelled slowly to Joan's house as the convoy of black Suv came to a halt. "Those are really expensive cars." A voice almost startled her out of her nosyness.

"I thought you were going back today. why are you still here?" She asked her grandson Alex, who had a can of soda in his hands. "I decided to stay a few more days," He replied, and a knowing smile appeared on her aged face. "That sounds suspicious. Would you be willing to tell me the reason?" She asked Alex, whose eyes and attention were no longer on his grandmother but on the majestic people who came out of the car. He wondered how they knew Joan. "I just realised I need to be here often," he answered after a while. patry turned away from her grandson and turned to look also to see what was going on.

She watched as a gorgeous pregnant lady walked to the front door of the old house and knocked on it. Her Eyes never left what they were doing, and the book in her hands forgot. Alex seemed to be as interested as his grandmother as he opened his can of soda and took a sip from it..
