Chapter 1: Shadows of the Wedding Night

Night! Pitch-black everywhere.

Olivia was very slowly wiping her damp hair when suddenly someone grabbed her waist and threw her onto the bed. The man forcibly pulled down her lace nightgown, revealing her lily-white skin.

She was instantly stunned and attempted to resist subconsciously, but a familiar scent soon enveloped her. 

Is this happening again?

Reminded that he has humiliated her in this way before, she angrily pushed him away, her anger giving rise to fear, and she locked eyes with him, "Nathaniel, don't touch me! And I mean it don't touch me!"

As she panted heavily, she had thought she no longer cared, that she had already forgotten her love for him. But whenever he touched her, when he called out that name, Nathaniel, her heart stabbed as if an iceberg's icicle had ruthlessly pierced into her heart, mixed with the cold blood, causing her to suffocate. The moment for her is not comfortable.

Nathaniel? A name that would never fade away. Indeed, how could a living person compare to one who’s dead? Moreover, she was now occupying the kidney he once gave out of love.

She was dead, but she held an unshakable place in this man's heart.

Nathaniel never really called her name, even in intimate moments, his eyes were closed, and someone else's name would escape his lips.

He cast a cold, despising glance at her and leaned closer, "Not touch you? On our wedding night, weren’t you begging me to? Didn't you say we’ll divorce after you give birth to a child? Why are you refusing my touch now? Don’t want to have a baby anymore?"

"Nathaniel?" She was almost roaring, his every word was an insult, pressing down on her dignity, not even leaving her a chance to counter-argue.

Yes, half a year ago, on their wedding night, it was her who begged him to touch her. Even when he said he would if she kneeled, she did not hesitate to do so. And just as promised, he did. That night, however, was full of torture for her.

"Feel humiliated now? Don't forget it was you who insisted on marrying into the Cross family, you who didn’t want the dowry or wedding ceremony, just to marry me," Nathaniel uttered each word as if to shred her heart.

Olivia, a young miss from the Blake family, was brought up in a sophisticated environment. Two years ago, she fell deeply in love with Nathaniel at their first meeting. Using every connection the Blake family had, she finally became his secretary. She learnt finance, which she abhorred, and became an independent woman in the business world.

However, in front of Nathaniel, she felt as humble as grass, forever overshadowed by Nathaniel, the towering tree.

Nathaniel had someone he loved, and they had been together for over three years, yet his father particularly liked Olivia. She was a match in terms of social status and commerce marital alliance. This golden boy and jade girl combination constantly brought about endless admiration and beautiful stories.

"I don't love you anymore, so don't touch me. I don't want to have your child either, so let's divorce?" Her words were no longer roars of rage, nor was she afraid anymore. However, her words were trembling.

Failures. These two words carved too many scars into her in these six months of marriage. The world knew Nathaniel loved Margaret Seth so dearly. Olivia was the third party who ruined their relationship, even took away his beloved woman's kidney.

"Do you not want this marriage anymore?"

"I don't want it anymore! I don't care about it anymore!" Olivia bitterly smiled in her heart. She had to muster a lot of courage to say she didn't want or care about the marriage anymore. Did she really stop loving him? Even she herself didn't believe it.

Nathaniel was like Mount Camel, and she was like an ant who could never resist him. She thought her love could warm his heart, melt his ice, and heat his coldness. But in the end, she even lost her dignity in love.

Nathaniel felt an inexplicable anger. Her indifferent gaze made him as wild as a beast, directly pressing her under him, "Whether you care or not is not up to you to say! that is the truth, not your decision and will never be your decision"

Olivia didn't know how long Nathaniel had been furious. She only knew her body felt like having been flogged, with no strength even to raise her hand. She slowly turned her head to look at his figure, "I was wrong and I gave up. Let me go! If it's for this heart and kidney, I can give it back to you!"

These words "Let me go" she had never dared to utter, even less so than the word "divorce", because without his father's approval, they couldn't possibly get a divorce. But to set her free, it only needed Nathaniel's agreement.

She fell in love with a man for the first time, believed in his everything, wanted his everything. Not his money, status, and power, but his heart.

Half a year, she had cried too much. Always in such quiet nights, she shed tears secretly. Later, she ran out of tears, stopped crying, and thought of giving up.

She slightly lifted the corner of her mouth, sketching the most perfect arc, "You can directly kick me out of the game and continue loving your woman!"

Nathaniel's body trembled slightly, he turned to look at her smile. His cold gaze heated up once again "I and she had always been open and honest, you were just a stumbling block in between us. Without you, she would not have left me like that, and you still hold her kidney! Now you feel the pain and want to leave, I say no!" She just mentioned giving up, and it seemed so relieved.
