Chapter 6: A Toast to Deception

She slowly shifted her gaze, a smile always gracing her lips. She lifted her glass of wine towards the couple and said, "It's nice to meet you."

"I'm happy to meet you too!" Mrs. John, Luna, responded cheerfully.

"I've heard about you both for quite some time now, but never had the chance to personally meet you. Indeed, you both live up to the rumors. Such a sweet and loving couple, truly an envy to others!" Olivia showed a face of admiration, it wasn't fake.

She genuinely admired their relationship, for who wouldn't desire to have a loving partner to grow old with?

"You two are also a loving couple, aren't you? I just spotted your husband whispering sweet nothings to you!" Luna chimed in.

Olivia was taken aback. She hadn't expected Nathaniel's whispering could be mistaken for romantic murmurs. His acting skills were truly not to be underestimated.

Seeing the blushing expression on Olivia's face, Luna thought she was being shy, immediately raising her glass cheerfully, "I adore sweet couples. In my eyes, only sweet couples can achieve success in their careers and make delicious pastries."

"Hehe!" Olivia was speechless for a moment, yet she quickly adopted a bashful demeanor, "Indeed, I truly love my husband, and I believe he loves me just the same!"

"I absolutely love you." In no time, Nathaniel had already strolled over to her side, he tenderly slid his arm around her waist and gently enclosed her in his arms. "I apologize for the intrusion. She's not good with alcohol, and I was worried she might overdo it, thus I came to interrupt."

"It's quite alright," John instantly reassured with a smile, "You are indeed a gentleman and value your wife tremendously."

"Hehe, don't you do the same for your wife?" Nathaniel responded almost instantly.

For a moment, a spark of joy flashed through Olivia's eyes. Despite knowing very well that Nathaniel’s words rang hollow and insincere, she couldn't help but feel slightly pleased. After all, she was in love with this man and yearned for his affection. However, such a wish was destined to forever remain unfulfilled.

Even if she married him, even if she obtained him, she could never triumph over the other woman deeply embedded in his heart.

"Mr. Cross, are you interested in developing in our country?" John asked proactively.

"Of course! In fact, my wife and I have already discussed this. We plan on heading over there for our honeymoon in a few days. We've been married for half a year and haven't had the time to have a honeymoon yet." Nathaniel shot an anticipatory glance at Olivia.

She quickly caught on and plastered a shy smile on her face, leaning into his embrace. Playing the role of a loving couple in public wasn't new to them, so a single glance from him was all she needed to know exactly what to do. Their act of love was getting more natural day by day.

"Welcome, welcome, we'll be honored to receive you then!" Luna joyfully said, as if she had already accepted Olivia as a friend.

In fact, Nathaniel didn't need to please anyone, he simply wanted to control everything!

Kate watched them with displeasure, stewing in frustration from a distance, waiting for Olivia to turn around and walk over.

As expected, after a short while, Nathaniel disdainfully let go of her waist and turned to walk in a different direction, while Olivia turned around and put down her wine glass.

"who is this? I thought I was mistaken. How could you have the nerve to let Nathaniel bring you here?" Kate deliberately walked over to her, taunting in a voice loud enough for Olivia to hear.

In such a situation, Olivia didn't want to engage with Kate. She turned to leave, but Kate seemed to have done it on purpose, tripping her with her foot.

"Ahh!" A subconscious scream immediately attracted everyone's curious glances.

"Are you okay?" Kate quickly reached out to help Olivia, pretending to be innocent.

"Get away!" Olivia brushed off Kate's hand, just about to get up when she heard a crash. Kate had fallen onto the snacks, naturally pushing the wine glasses on the table to the floor, creating a crisp sound.

"What happened?" At this time, Nathaniel came over.

"Wow!" Before Olivia could speak, Kate began to sob, "How could you push me? I was only trying to help you up!"

Olivia never dreamed that Kate would say something like this, and even sob so pitifully, just like an actress, performing so convincingly.

"When have I pushed you? you were the one who tripped me first!" Olivia instinctively wanted to explain.

"You pushed me, okay, but how could you falsely accuse me? Everyone saw you fall by yourself, I kindly helped you, but you countered me instead." Kate sobbed some more while speaking.

Everyone at the scene knew she was Nathaniel's wife, naturally they didn't dare to speak out, but they whispered and pointed.

"Really, you helped me?" Olivia stared at Nathaniel with a pleading look, hoping that he would believe her at that moment.

But, she was mistaken.

What kind of person was Nathaniel? He was a man who was deeply self-centered. How could he possibly believe and help himself? On such a good opportunity, he would definitely trample on her pride fiercely.

"Apologize to Miss Kate!" Nathaniel stated, his voice as cold as ice.

"Boom!" Olivia’s mind went blank for a moment. She could not help feeling wronged inside. She lowered her eyes and pondered for a while. As soon as she said 'sorry', she would be admitting that she intentionally pushed her away.

"Just say sorry, and I will forgive you!" said Kate who was standing nearby deliberately.

"As expected, an actress. She acts so convincingly. I wonder if she is as good in bed?" Just as Olivia was about to speak, a voice came. Everyone turned their heads to look. It was him!

Ross Group's Second Young Master, Kelvin Ross!

"Sister-in-law!" He bent down to help Olivia up, then smiled at Nathaniel, "Brother, you seem to be in a bad mood today?"

"No!" Nathaniel responded in a dissatisfied tone. Yet, his eyes were already filled with anger, scanning back and forth between Kelvin who was helping Olivia up.

Olivia subconsciously withdrew her hand, looking at him gratefully. This was not the first time, every time, no matter the occasion or the situation, he would always come to her aid.

"Brother, I mean no offense, but this place is allowing any person entry. It really devalues the atmosphere here!" Kelvin said on purpose.

"You?" Kate was so angry that she could not form any words. She bit her lip by the force of her anger, stared at Nathaniel with a sorrowful expression as if pleading for help.

However, he seemed to have ignored her and directly reached out to pull away Olivia.
