"Do you want to meet my mum?"
"What?" Steve stopped the car as they had gotten to Liam's. "Tonight? Isn't it late?"
"It is," Liam unclasped his seatbelt. "But you're driving me home this late. I think she'll be glad to meet who drive me home this late. And you invited me for a dinner tomorrow, right? How am I supposed to tell mum I'm going over to a friend's for dinner when she doesn't even know who the friend is."
"Okay okay," Steve also unclasped his seatbelt. "Let's go. I'm also excited to meet her."
They got down and stepped into Liam's house. It wasn't Steve first time so he could easily find his way around.
The door was locked, Liam pressing the doorbell. Few seconds later, his mum opened the door.
"Oh, Liam you're finally home," she opened the door. "I was about to call you. Right, I saw your text. How was the football? Did your school's team wi
Six eyes turned in Steve's direction. He swallowed, holding on to Liam's hand tighter as he anticipated their comments."Boyfriend?" Oliver spoke first, surprised. "Woah, i-""Don't act so surprised dad," Steve faced his dad."I'm not," he dropped his cutlery. "I mean, I am but not too surprised. I was expecting it. I could tell. I'm just surprised that it happened already like it feels so soon.""You're gay?" Grace said, her eyes on Steve. Her faced screamed disgust as he looked at Steve then Oliver. "Oliver, your son is gay?""No, he's not," Oliver laughed. "I mean I don't think so. I mean he has dated girls before so no he's not really gay.""So it's just a phase then?" she asked Oliver. He wasn't expecting the question as he remained silent. "Okay, it might be just a phase but still are you going to tolerate it?""Excuse m
Liam: JasLiam: Can you come over.It was few minutes to eight and Liam was sitting on the floor, his back rested on his bed, a million things running through his mind.He woke up few minutes past six, finding himself wrapped around Steve's arms. He mentally groaned as memories of the previous day came rushing.Carefully enough to not wake Steve, he got out of his bed. He still had his clothes on so all he had to do was get his sneakers and put them on. He glanced at him one more time and opened his room door to leave.Immediately he got downstairs, he met Steve's dad sitting on a sofa in the living room."Oh," he wasn't expecting anyone to be up so early. "Good morning, sir.""Oh, Liam it's you," he turned from the sofa, dropping his mug on the table closest to him. "Morning. You're up so early, are you okay?""Yeah,
Liam gulped. Walking towards him with a backpack around his shoulder and head hung low was Steve. Liam looked around him hoping to find someone he could run towards but found none. It was still morning and he only had a few minutes to his first class. Liam had texted him earlier in the morning telling him to go to school without him. Steve had asked him for a reason to which he replied to saying he had to go somewhere with his mum first before coming to school. They were all lies though- Liam wasn't ready to face him yet after realizing his feelings. Their eyes finally met and he knew he could no longer avoid him. With lips curving into a smile, he walked towards Steve. "Hey," Steve said when they were infront of each other. "Hey." "How are you?" Steve asked him. "I texted you throughout yesterday and you didn't reply any of them. Even when
"Come in."Liam ushered him in, ignoring his previous words. He had only walked halfway into the living room when Steve held his arm."Why are you mad at me?"Liam turned, Steve's grip still on his arm. "I'm not mad at you.""Don't lie to me," Steve replied him. "You've been acting different.""Doesn't mean I'm mad at you.""Then what is it, Liam?"He held Steve's hand. "Regarding the text messages, I'm sorry I didn't reply them. I was wrapped up with different things I didn't notice," he said. He was never going to admit the truth to him. "And I really really wanted to ask how you were. I wanted to know how you were fairing. If you and your dad had made up or not. I really wanted to but I know I didn't. I'm sorry.""It's fine," Steve squeezed his hands. "I'm sorry too. About you and Miley-""Hone
It was a regular Wednesday with Liam, Steve and Jasmine spending most of their school hours together. They had most classes together and even spent their recess together. It was finally closing hours and Liam and Nick were walking down the hallways."So, are we going home directly?""Yes," Liam eyed Steve suspiciously."My place or your place?""Why do you still bother to ask?" Liam shook his head. "My place. To drop me.""Is your mum going to be home today too?" Steve asked. "I wouldn't mind delicious lunch today too.""No," Liam smiled mischievously. "Too bad but she won't be home. So take your hungry self somewhere else.""Ouch," Steve dramatically clutched his chest. "It's fine though. I'm hurt but it's fine."Liam stuck his tongue out."Remind me why we're heading this way?"
Liam rolled in bed, mentally blaming himself for leaving his text notifications on so loud. Not only did it ring so loudly, it rang loudly twice.Still sleepy, he got up to pick his phone to silence it from any future disturbance. He picked it, swiped it open to reveal text messages from Steve.Stevie: Happy Birthday, Liam!!Stevie: Hoping this year brings you all the happiness this world has to offer that you deserve!Right. It was his birthday. He laughed at himself for forgetting, his laughter quickly becoming a smile as he read through the messages again. It was to think Steve remembered his birthday when even him didn’t remember.Liam: Thanks.Steve’s reply was immediate.Stevie: You’re welcome!Stevie: I was afraid you’d be asleep
"Did you get home late yesterday?""No not really," Jasmine replied Liam, taking out books from her locker. "You could have texted to ask if you were curious.""I would have but I got all," he stopped to think. "Busy?""Busy? Cleaning up or what?""Nah," he watched her slam her locker shut. "More like emotionally busy.""I don't get you.""I told my mum, Jasmine."Jasmine stopped in her tracks. "You did what?""I told her," he bit his lip. "About me and Steve. No, don't freak out. Not the whole details but point is, she knows I like him.""Damn," Jasmine was obviously surprised. "I did not see that coming. What did she say?"She was cool," Liam replied, remembering. "She told me not to let go of someone I like so easily.""And?"
By seven am, Steve was already at Liam's.Liam was also ready. Dressed in a black sweater and dark jeans, he was waiting outside with his bag next to him.Steve arrived and they bid Liam's mum goodbye then left. The ride to school was cheerful, both having sandwiches Steve made for breakfast and talking about music and food."Hiiiiii," Jasmine excitedly said as she spotted them at school. "Great. We're all going.""Yeah." Replies were mumbled and in unison."Come on let's go," she linked arms with both of them. "I heard the bus would be moving in about fifteen minutes. Let's get our name tags now."They got their name tags, Liam and Steve helping each other put it on. They then headed outside to where the rest of the students were."Do you know if Nick would be coming too?" Liam asked Jasmine, looking around him.
