Lucas was about to say something when an employee walked in and said,

“Sir, your uncle wants to meet you.”

Lucas looked at Emily and spoke gently, “I’ll go see him. You wait for me in my office.”

Emily nodded, and Lucas left. As soon as he was gone, Emily turned to Grace with a smirk.

“I hope you’ll enjoy your time here, sister.”

Grace didn’t bother replying. She simply ignored her and continued with her work.

On the other side, Lucas reached his uncle’s office. He knocked, and when he heard “come in,” he stepped inside. Ethan was sitting at his desk, reading a file with a serious face.

Lucas felt a little nervous. “You called me, Uncle?”

Ethan closed the file and looked at him. His tone was cold.

“Yes. I heard you brought the Wells family’s daughter into our company.”

Lucas nodded slowly. “Y-yes, Uncle. She wanted to work here.”

Ethan’s voice turned sharper.

“Do you think this company is a charity? That anyone who wants to work here can just join? Does she even have the qualifications?”

Lucas could feel his uncle’s anger but he answered with determination.

“I know she’s not from a top university, but it isn’t her fault. She was away from her family and suffered a lot. Still, she’s capable. Please give her a chance, Uncle. She won’t disappoint you.”

Ethan leaned back in his chair, watching him carefully. Finally, he said,

“Fine. I’ll give her a chance. But listen—this will be her first and last. If she damages the company’s reputation or causes any problems, I’ll ban her from the company forever.”

Relief washed over Lucas. “Don’t worry, Uncle. That won’t happen.”

But Ethan’s expression grew colder.

“And one more thing. I’ve heard about your relationship with the Wells family’s daughter. If that’s true, then don’t bother with their adopted daughter.”

Lucas froze, surprised. His uncle had never cared about his personal life before. But he didn’t question it—he just nodded and left the office.

As the door closed, Ethan reopened the file. It was Grace’s information. All her details were there, along with her photo. He stared at it for a long moment.

Now he understood why Grace had distanced herself from Noha after knowing he is Ethan Marino, because Ethan was Lucas’s uncle. She must have felt awkward.

Touching her photo lightly, Ethan murmured to himself,

“She really is innocent… interesting.”

Meanwhile, in Wells Enterprises, Albert sat in his office, checking his phone again and again. Grace hadn’t called or messaged him since leaving home. Before, she always did—whether to share her day or just to talk.

Even though Albert had always been cold to her, she still clung to him. Now the silence made his heart feel strangely empty.

“She must be throwing a tantrum,” he thought, frowning. “Waiting for me to bring her back. But I won’t. She needs to grow up and understand she can’t just do whatever she wants.”

the emptiness in his chest only grew stronger. He opened his laptop and started to do company work , still looking at his phone in every few minutes.

After finishing work, Grace stepped out of the office building and waited for her cab. Suddenly, a luxury car pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, and she saw Ethan.

“Come on,” he said calmly. “I’ll give you a lift.”

Grace hesitated. “If your boss finds out you’re using his car to drive someone, won’t you lose your job?”

Ethan smiled faintly.

“Don’t worry. He’s already gone home, and i am not only his driver but his assistant also ,so as long as I don’t damage the car, he won’t care who I give a ride to.”

His words made sense, and it would save her some money, so Grace decided to accept. She got into the passenger seat.

What she didn’t notice was Emily, who had seen everything. Watching Grace in the luxury car, Emily’s eyes darkened with jealousy—but then lit up with a cruel smile.

“So she’s already found herself a sugar daddy? Perfect. Once Lucas and the family find out, they’ll be disgusted with her.”
