Chapter one : The sudden breakup

"Beep... Beep… Beep…" a sound kept ringing in an airplane as a young man of twenty two years old walked swiftly into the passengers compartment with his eyes widened in fear as he drifted his gaze to the passengers who were all panicking.

"Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!" the voice of the pilot came through as the airplane kept shaking tremendously.

"Richard," A woman called from one of the seats as the young man who had walked in looked forward to her.

"Mom," Richard said aloud as the plane shook tremendously followed by a loud blasting sound outside and without hesitation the young boy moved to an empty seat closer to him then sat down as he quickly fastened his seat belt.

"Easy vector. we are going down and all passengers should evacuate the plane, I repeat, all passengers should evacuate the plane," The pilot's voice came through again as Richard lifted his quivering eyes to his parents who were staring at him.

Most of the passengers began to take up parachutes which were beside them as Richard looked to his side but there was none then he lifted his gaze forward again to his father who understood his signal.

"Hold on Richard, I'm coming," His father said as he unlocked his seat belt and just when he was about to move a lightning blast struck the plane tank as a side of the plane blasted open and the airplane fell drastically crashing into a large mountain.

…………………

Ten years later

The clock strikes ten p.m. when classical music fills a large auditorium with many wealthy couple's dining with their partners, and on one of the chairs sat Richard Robertson, a very prominent and handsome thirty two years old billionaire with his legs crossed.

"It is over between us, Rebecca," Richard said to his date who was seated opposite him as she lifted her gaze from the screen of her phone she had been staring at for the past five minutes.

Rebecca paused as she stared in confusion at the man she had begun dating only five months ago.

"What do you mean Richard? If this is a joke you should stop it," she chuckled as she gently took up her glass of wine which was on a spherical glass table in-between them.

"I am not kidding, we can't see each other anymore," Richard persisted as Rebecca stopped her hand.

She stared into his blue pointy eyes then traced her gaze down his fair skin through his pointed nose to his slightly noticeable moustache and beards which ran down his cheeks, jaw and chin. He was the most handsome man she had ever met. His spiky hairstyle suited his looks and he was six feet's tall in his black corporate suit.

"Can we change the topic please?" she rolled her tongue upwards when she felt her head ache as tears almost ran down her eyes.

"No, This is the right time," Richard protested immediately after she dropped her statement.

"I can't remember loving you, I think I was confused the day I asked you out and I am only realizing now that it was all a mistake," he stopped his lips when she was about to take a sip of her drink as her wine spilled on her blue gown.

Rebecca's heart shattered at Richard's statement as she saw the lack of remorse in his eyes. He was her pride and almost all her friends had known that she was dating the perfect Richard Robertson, who is the owner of the famous SBE wine corporation. If they get separated her dreams will be shattered. She hesitated, pondering if they had run into any conflict in the past or recently but there was none as far as she could tell.

"We don't have to start this now Richard, Don't ruin this perfect night," She pleaded as Richard squinted his eyes.

Rebecca felt her throat get sour and her eyes burn in pain. She recognised that stare, it was the one he makes each time his mind was already made up. "Don't do this Richard," She searched his eyes for a glimpse of compassion but there was none. sympathy was far from his soul.

"I don't want to see you around me anymore," He heaved a sigh as he took down his leg which had been crossed then he gently stood on his feet but just when he was about to take a step she caught him by the hand.

"Who is the new girl?" She asked as she stared at his lips which were pressed together in silence. "What have I done? i can't recall getting into a fight with you so why will you choose to treat me this way?" she wobbled as her hands got feeble and her pale eyes pleaded for answers.

"It's in my power to do what I want, whenever I want to. I have made up my mind and no one can change it," Richard replied.

Rebecca sniffed as she held back her tears which were about running down her eyes and after a while she flickered her gaze to him again. "One day, you will meet your match. Someone you will never have to treat like trash and every bit of her will pierce your soul, She will be the only person you will want to think of each morning when you wake up, she will break your pride but I have no clue how you two will end it could be tragic or eternal but surely you will never be the same," said Rebecca and her hands dropped down from his wrist.

"Don't worry, no person in the world can be my match," Richard furrowed his eyebrows as he left for the exit.

Night balls were meant to find a life partner but in the case of Richard Robertson it was never a limitation to his lifestyle. He was an addicted player and has dated over five ladies but none stayed since he broke up with them after a few months in each relationship.

His actions were not born out of free will but it was as a result of his defect. He had been suffering from a minor prosopagnosia; a brain disease which causes difficulty with facial recognition, and he had lived that way for ten years.

Leaving his dates was no big deal to him and this night was not an exception.

Richard walked out majestically through the large glass exit door with his left hand stuck in his side pocket and his head held up high.

"Take," he handed his suit jacket to his escort who was standing a few feet's away from the doorpost then walked down to his black BMW car.

Before he could get there his bodyguards had already opened up the door and after another short glance at the building he entered the car.

"Where is miss Rebecca sir," asked his driver as he glanced at him through the rear-view mirror.

"Eliminated. Now drive," Richard said after he had fastened his seat belt.

"Sure sir," his driver started the car and in a short time they left the environment.
