Chapter 13

I asked, "Raven, what task did you actually come to the human world to accomplish?"

"My dad said if I achieved something significant, he'd pass the throne to me."

"What kind of achievement?"

"No idea. That's all he said."

During our casual chat, Raven's phone rang. He had bought it himself without using my money. I had no idea demons were so wealthy.

"Oh no, it's my dad!"

Raven's expression turned tense. It was as if he were facing a formidable enemy.

A deep voice came through the phone. "Son, how are things going in the human world?"

"Pretty good."

"Have you achieved anything significant?"

"Uh..."

"Did you destroy a city? Or maybe destroy the planet?"

"Dad, I saved a few human children. Does that count?"

The other end went quiet for a moment. "That works."

Just as Raven breathed a sigh of relief, the man asked, "What else? You're not gonna tell me that's it, right?"

Raven glanced at me and said quietly, "I… also got married."

This time, the silence lasted even longer,
