23 Making Up The Mind

Olivia's panic was an eye-opener for me. I knew I had to try harder. She deserved better. Seeing her hurt made me realise her happiness was more important than my reputation. She was a gem, not something that should be hidden. I held her for a while and then carried her upstairs so she could sleep. I would not touch her until I had separated myself from Emily completely. Olivia deserved better.

"I think you should sleep, Olly," I said, and she looked confused. Her eyes were swollen from the many tears she cried.

My grandfather had a way of annoying people and ruffled Olivia in the worst way without knowing it.

"I will like to meet your mother tomorrow, Olly. I am serious about this. I need you to hang in there for my sake." I said, laying her down on the bed, and she did not respond.

"Are you not going home? Your grandparents are there," She asked me, and I shook my head.

The story so far is okay. The first book kept me wanting to keep reading. This book feels like it is written by someone else. It truly is not as captivating as the first. ... I’ll keep pushing forward, but so far I have put it down so many times, I just cannot get into it.
