Chapter 5

Aaron

We both gaped at the newly arrived customers.

It was Aziel and Sarrah. Nathalia and I hid from our seats while Sarrah and Aziel both sat at the back of the restaurant.

Nathalia and I ate the food as quickly as we could and we went to the counter, paid for our food, and we left.

As we walk towards the exit, I can feel an icy stare behind me. I don’t know if I’m the only one who felt that, but I decided not to pay any attention to it.

We’re currently walking towards the park near our neighborhood. I looked at Nathalia to see how she’s doing, and good thing she looks fine.

I grabbed her hand, and we sat on the seat under a tree in the park.

“What?” she asked when I sat beside her. I took her bag, then I placed it down on the grass in front of me. I cradled her hand before speaking.

“If you’re hurting, then you can cry to me, you know. I’m your best friend after all,” I told her as I gave her a hug. She hugged me back and cried. I consoled her while circling my hands on her back.

“It hurts. I know *sob* that there’s this huge possibility that she doesn’t like me, but this *sob* damn hurts,” she said between her sobs. I just hugged her there as I listened to her letting it all out.

It was a bit late now, so we started walking home. Nathalia’s eyes are a bit swollen because of her crying earlier. I’m glad that she’s okay now. I dropped her off at their house and before she entered the gate; she kissed me on the cheeks and waved goodbye.

I hope she’s back to normal tomorrow… I thought as I walked back home.

We don’t have any school today, so I went to Nathalia’s house so we could hang out. And when I got there, she went out of the gate and we started walking towards the park since we have gone there.

Nathalia joking clung to my shoulders, acting like a “Couple” she said. I laughed at it and we went to a stall to buy some food.

Everything was going great…

Until we bumped into a couple, making things awkward again.

“Oh, hey, guys! What are you doing here?” Sarrah asked while staring at me like she’s digging a hole in my body.

“We’re just hanging out since it’s a weekend today,” Nathalia said, clinging even tighter to my shoulders. I saw Aziel flinch. It was faint, but I saw it.

“What about you guys? Out on a date?” Nathalia asked. Sarrah laughed and nodded while Aziel was just staring at me.

“Well, we will leave you lovebirds into it then,” Nathalia said, and we’re about to leave when Sarrah spoke again.

“Why don’t we all hang out together then?” She suggested in a cheerful tone. Nathalia and I looked at each other, not knowing what to say.

“Hahaha, we don’t want to disturb you guys on your date, so let’s do it next time,” Nathalia said, and we tried to leave again.

“Nonsense! It’ll be like a double date. It’s gonna be fun,” Sarrah said. Nathalia sighed, and she looked at me.

“Well, is it okay with you Aaron?” she asked me. I can feel a cold sensation through the air, but I ignored it.

“Well, if you’re okay with it, I don’t see why not?” I told her as I smiled. And the Icy sensation grew stronger.

“Okay, let’s go around together,” Nathalia said. Sarrah removed her arms from Aziel and she clung to Nathalia.

“Yay! Well then, let’s go!” Sarrah said as they started walking. Aziel and I heeled them from behind.

We went to an Ice cream truck and bought us some food while we walk around the park. Sarrah and Nathalia converse while Aziel and I are quietly eating our ice creams. It’s awkward!

“So, you and Nathalia, huh? Are you guys dating?” Aziel asked before taking a bite of his Ice cream.

“Well, not that we’re dating or anything. We’re just friends,” I replied. Then it became quiet again.

“Well, it’s lunchtime. Aziel and I are planning on eating at the diner over there? What about you guys?” Sarrah asked.

“Oh, I brought us some lunch, so we’ll be eating here,” Nathalia said. I grabbed her hand, and we started walking towards a seat.

“We finally got away,” I said, as I let out a sigh of relief. Nathalia laughed, and she took the lunch that she made for our hangout.

She took out four containers filled with fresh food. One container has a cheese sandwich, the other one has salads, the third one has some burgers, and the last one is for dessert, which is cake.

“Wow! Did you make all of this?” I asked her. She nodded, and she took a spoon and fork out of her bag and she gave me one of each.

“I got up early making these, so I hope you enjoy it,” she said. I took a sandwich, and I took a bite.

“Wow! This is delicious. I didn’t know that you have this talent in you,” I told her before eating the rest of the sandwich. She laughed, and she started eating as well.

“I’m glad that you liked it. I did my best making that,” she said. I drank some water before answering her.

“Well, I for sure know that you worked hard making this,” I told her as I held her hand with bandages on it.

“I noticed this after all,” I told her. She laughed, and she jokingly slapped me on the shoulder. I laughed with her and we started cleaning the table and we started walking home.

As usual, I dropped her off in front of their gate. Before she entered, she looked at me and she smiled.

“Thank you for this day!” she said as she entered the house.

“No problem,” I said before I started walking home.

I’m just glad that she enjoyed this day.
