He woke up and touched the side of the bed. She wasn’t in bed. He groaned and rolled out of bed. He headed down to the living room and saw a maid on his way down
“Good morning, Master” she humbly greeted
“Good morning. Where is Alice?” He asked
“She was in the kitchen when I passed by” she said
He walked down to the kitchen and saw her there. He rolled his eyes. He couldn’t understand why she had taken it upon herself to do the cooking. They gas maids available for that but she would rather do it herself. Sometimes, her attitude and behavior bothered Jared a lot. He would rather have her put all of these energy into accessing her wolf side buy she wasn’t ready to have that conversation and he wasn’t ready to push it either. For three years after she turned eighteen, she had tried. She had meditated for hours and there was no result to show for it. She heard sex with a mate would activate the wolf side, and it didn’t have to be your mate so she had slept with a couple of guys and nothing happened. She had even slept with her own mate and there was still nothing. She also heard that going through extreme pain can help with the transformation and she did put herself through extreme pain but still, nothing had happened. At a point, he was convinced that she was human and there was no way she would ever transform into a wolf but she healed faster than any human it wolf that he knew of. Her ears were sharp, like that of a wolf. She had all the attributes of a wolf, except the fact that she refused to transform into one.
“You shouldn’t be doing that” he said to her
She tuned sharply. She didn’t know he was standing there
“How long have you been standing there?” she asked
“A while now. You look distracted” he said
“I am. I should have heard you come in and I didn’t. That is new and also weird. How was the meeting?” she asked him
This was one of the few times that he enjoyed her company, when she wasn’t upset. She was a nice person all together and she was lovable. He couldn’t help but fall in love with her every time he spoke to her. There was something about her voice, her personality and her attitude. He was hooked on her and letting her go seemed harder than it should be. He let out a little smile and shook his head. He was so caught in her beauty and he was lost. Her voice pulled him out of his own
“Are you even paying any attention to me?” she asked him
“I am. I am so sorry. What were you saying?” he asked her
“So much for paying attention” she said to him
“Hey, I’m sorry. I just had a little escape from my reality. I just need some rest now. You don’t have to stress over dinner when you can get a maid to cook up something for the both of us” he said
“Why? Because I’m pregnant?” she asked him”
“Probably and because you are the Luna of a pack. You don’t need to still attend to duties like cooking and cleaning”
“I would do it either ways and it doesn’t matter if I’m a woman or a man. Also, I am pregnant, not sick. I can cook and I will. There is no big deal about it” she said
“I would probably just take a shower and come down for dinner then we can talk about some things. I have a lot to discuss with you” he said to her
“It sounds important” she said
“It is important. We would have to do a lot of planning for the baby and we need to get the both of you to safety if things get out of hand down here” Jared said to her
“And that’s it? You think I am going to just go and hide somewhere while the rest of the community stay back and fight for us? What kind of queen does that make me?” She asked him
“I don’t need you to be a queen. I need you to be alive. Two different things, Alice. I would have a shower and we would talk about it” he said
He did have a shower but by the time he came back to the living room, she had locked herself up in another room. This is what she does when she is trying to avoid an important conversation. She would ignore and over ride until it disappeared but Jared wasn’t letting her have it this time. He was going to look for her the next day and talk to her until she agreed with his decision. The next day rolled by and he couldn’t get her. He had to head down to the blue moon valley with Xavier who was in a bad mood that morning. Jared found it so strange that it was possible for him to be in a bad mood because he was never in a bad mood but Jared decided not to ask what was up with him. It was only a matter of time before he opens up, himself. They got to blue moon and drove into the town. They got stares and they knew that something was definitely up with them but they kept their cool till they got to the gates of the house.
Xavier got down first and looked over the entire area to make sure it was safe for his alpha to come out of the car. He looked back at Jared and nodded at him before he came down. Jared walked up to him and stood by his side, admiring the architectural work of the place. He had to admit, he was really impressed with whoever the person was
“We should go in” Jared said after a while
He could sense Xavier’s uneasiness. He looked at him
“You know you don’t have to go in with me right? I would be just fine on my own if you want to wait back in the car” Jared said
“Funny of you to say. I would pass on the offer, thank you” he said
“I am serious, Xavier. You can stay behind. Keep your eyes and ears in the ground and alert me if something strange happens” Jared said
“One of them can do that, just not me. I am coming with you, whether you like it or you don’t like it!” he said
Jared smiled to himself and headed in. He knocked the door but got no response. He closed his eyes to listen. He could hear movements, almost like they were starting to make a formation which would make it easier for them to attack.
“Do you hear that?” Xavier asked
“Loud and clear” he said
His eyes glowed and he pushed the door open.
“Roland! We need to talk!” he growled as he saw him
“Jared, I have been expecting you. Well, I should be, considering the fact that your little errand boy here would not stop texting me” he said rudely
Xavier growled at him
“We don’t need that, let him talk all he wants. Just don’t let it get to you. That is the last thing we need, a fight. We are outmanned and outnumbered” Jared said to Xavier
“You should really listen to your alpha like you were born to do. He is right. At least, he has more common sense than you do. You would be killed in seconds if you make a stupid move” Roland said
“We just want to talk and we would be on our way” Jared said to him
“Talk? What is there to talk about?” Roland asked
“The fact that one of our own was killed and hung at your gate. His name was Eddie but I don’t think that even matters to you” Xavier said
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no knowledge of it” he said
“We both know that is not true. You are the alpha of this pack. You know everything that goes on in your valley” Jared said
“Well, not this time!” he said to Jared
“Then you are not as capable as I thought. You can’t even put your own people in place. You can’t keep your people coordinated. That is very low, considering you have so much power and authority” Xavier said
“Watch your mouth, errand boy” he said
“Or else what, Roland? Maybe I was wrong. Maybe, just maybe you are not as powerful as you claim to be. You are just the alpha, a figure head with no action and your own people probably don’t respect your rules. That is sad, alpha!” Xavier said
“I will find who did this and get to the bottom of this!” Roland said to him
“That is exactly what I like to hear” Jared said
“Be careful though” Roland said
“Of what?” Xavier asked
“Someone who is lurking to rain down trouble because I see no reason why blue moon valley should be framed for such an embarrassing crime. We don’t kill other wolves without a valid reason and we don’t involve kids in our problems, isn’t that your own rule?” Roland asked
“It is. That is why I am here to get to the bottom of this matter. I would be back in a few days and if I still can’t get an answer, I would start to question your authority like my friend over here” Jared said
“Whatever!” Roland said
Xavier nodded his head and he walked out with Jared. He knew that something wasn’t adding up and if at all Roland was telling the truth, he would get to the bottom of the issue because he doesn’t want to be seen as irresponsible or incapable of ruling his own people. They got into the car and Jared drove around blue moon valley
“I don’t think we should be doing this though” Xavier said
“Doing what? We are just driving around. For all they know, we might just be tourists that came visiting”
“But we are not tourists. We are far from tourists. They know who you are. Let’s just head home. The last thing we need is trouble. Roland said he didn’t know anything about Eddie’s murder. What do you think?” Xavier asked
“I think he’s lying. He might not have been involved in the murder but not knowing anything about it is what I’m not buying” Jared said
“So you think he does know something about it?”
“Yes he does and he is not talking so we have to do some digging up on our own. C’mon , if someone holds the secret of Roland, it’s his son” Jared said
“We are not going after kids! That is your own rule” Xavier reminded him
“C’mon Xavi. I am not going to abduct his kid or kill him. Hell, I wouldn’t even torture him. I just want to ask him a couple of questions, that’s all. We are only going to have a nice little conversation. I swear” he said to Xavier
“I don’t like the idea of this. I don’t like any of this. I don’t think we should involve a kid!” Xavier said
“But a kid died. Am I supposed to just over look that? C’mon Xavi. You know I can’t do that”
“I get it and I understand that you had some liking towards Eddie but involving another kid, a younger kid just to solve this isn’t the way. You are about to be a father pretty soon. Would you rather have your kid in this mess than find another way? Look, Roland might be an idiot, I agree but his kid is innocent. I’m here to be an advisor and right now, if you go after Roland’s kid, you would be putting him in danger. We would get our answers some other way, just not this way” Xavier said.
After trying for minutes and she realized that she couldn’t send Jared there, her world broke. She knew that she was going to need her sister. She needed Louis. She sighed and she tuned around. She saw her standing there. “How did you get out of that room?” Laura asked her. “She didn’t, I did. I know that you do not trust me, I understand that but right now, we need to put our differences aside and fix things. We need to put our conflict aside if you want to get Alice back. Louis can perform the spell that you require of her. Let her do it” Zoe said to her. “Why is she speaking about herself in third person?” Xavier whispered. “Because that is not Louis. That is an entirely different being. That is not my sister and I do not trust her to handle this. I have never trusted her and I wouldn’t make that mistake now” Laura said to her. “I didn’t say that I was going to be the one to cast the spell. I am going to give this body back to its rightful owner because I taught her well enoug
Whether it was the right thing or not, she knew that it was too late to ask questions now. She had started this without her sister and that was exactly how she planned on finishing it. There was no going back now. She just hoped that this action wasn’t going to push her sister down the dark path. She sighed as she drove silently, on her way to get the blade that was going to put all of this insanity to an end. This was going to be the last time that she was going to have to deal with Doris. Never again. She was going to remove Doris from the picture and lead the coven in the right way. This was going to be the way to unite all of the witches of the Quarter. With Jared backing her up, it was going to be an easy task. With the help of Xavier, she was ready to face the world and with her sister by her side, it was going to be a piece of cake. All she had to do right now was just find te blade. Hopefully, it was right where she remembered leaving it. She needed to have this day easy. She
“Well, I guess we just have to hope and pray that she wins this. We have been through so much just to die in the end” Liam said to them. “I don’t care about what you say. Alice knows and understands what is at stake and she knows better than to let Doris win this. Besides, it is the prophecy” Jared said to them. “Prophecies can change. The real question is this. Can she do what is necessary make sure that the prophecy comes to pass?” Liam asked him. “Now is the wrong time to be doubting the abilities of someone that killed herself just so you can get your wife back! She would do what she needs to be done. You are in no position to question her abilities and her capabilities. There would be consequences of that action. That, I can promise you” Jared said to him, his eyes glowing. “Alright, why don’t we all calm down?” Louis said as she walked quietly into the room. “Louis!” Laura exclaimed. “I know, I am just as surprised to be alive as much as you are but we do not have time. Th
“That wouldn’t be necessary. I was always here, camouflaged with the dark for a reason. We need to get you out of here” Laura said, walking out of one of the dark corners of the place. “How is this even possible?” Alice asked her. “We don’t have time to explain but when we do, I promise that I will explain to you at length but right now, we need to focus on the important questions like why the hell did you not try to make a deal to reach out to the outside world so that we can bring you home?” Laura asked her. “Because you can’t bring me home. Louis killing me for Layla was something that Doris saw happening. I don’t know how she did but she foresaw it and she tied me here using the blood that she got from me and my unborn baby. This entire place is created to keep me captive. There is no going home of for me. This is home now so just quit trying to bring me back. It is totally hopeless” she said to them. “That is insane. You don’t deserve this. This is not how your story is suppo
Laura looked at Jared and she could see the last piece of hope and faith he had in his eyes. He needed her back and she knew this too. She knew that there was no way he was going to win this without her by his side. She said a silent but quick prayer to the moon goddess, asking for success this was her home and she was going to be devastated if she has to let it go. She started her spell and dropped on the floor. Jared was going to step into the circle when Liam stopped him. “No, trust her. She knows what she is doing. I trust her and you should too” he said to her. Jared looked at him and he nodded at him. He had no choice. They had tried too many different ways to get her back and if this didn’t work, if Laura couldn’t get her back then nobody could. If this didn’t work, he was going to ask that a witch embalm her body and preserve it so that he could wander around until he found somebody that could bring her back. He wasn’t going to give up on her and he wasn’t going to stop unti
“Xavier!!” she called out to him. He was as irresponsive as the first three times she had called out to him. Until he heard her or recognized her presence, he wasn’t going to be able to see her or feel her. She needed a way to get to him and she needed to do it fast. She could feel the rumbling of whatever universe they were in. it was coming down. The realm was closing in on them and they were about to be stuck in it forever. “He cannot hear you or see you. I think you should use your magic to pull him out of there” she heard Zoe say. “That would fracture his mind! I wouldn’t do that” she said to her. “Tick tock. Time wait s for no wolf, or no witch in this case. What do you want to do? Stay stuck here forever? You can’t do that! You need to get us out of here before the place comes down on us” Zoe said to her. “Xavi, I know you can hear me. I know that you are still in there. I need you to focus, I need you to look at me. I need to get you out of here. Whatever life you are liv
