“This has fuck all to do with you, whore. Now move.” With little to no effort, the guy reaches behind Harlow and almost plucks the cowering woman from behind her, pulling her towards him and gripping her wrist. The woman begins to cry, and I exchange a look with Ryker. I wouldn’t normally interfere in a guy’s domestic problems, but this chick looks seriously scared. “I want to score with Harlow, this’ll get me some points,” says Ryker, standing. I follow suit, if it helps my brother out, I’ll oblige.

“Let her go,” Ryker orders. He squares his shoulders, and although the guy hesitates, he doesn’t release his death grip on her.

“She’s my wife,” he grates out, as way of explanation.

“And that means shit to us when she looks like she’s scared as fuck,” I growl.

The guy looks back and forth between me and Ryker, probably weighing up his options. He sighs and drops his wife’s wrist.

“Sophia, do you want to stay with these guys you don’t know, or do you want to come home with me?” he asks, exasperation in his voice.

The girl glances at me before looking back into the cruel eyes of her husband. “With you Pete,” she almost whispers. He gives me a satisfied grin and steps around us to head for the exit, Sophia follows meekly behind, ignoring Harlow’s protests.

I watch them leave before turning to Harlow who also stares after them with hurt in her eyes, “Explain.”

“She’s my friend. We moved here together and got a house. Then six months ago, she met Pete and moved in with him pretty quickly. He’s a bastard. Doesn’t let her see me or her other friends and locks her in their apartment when he goes to work. She’s scared of him, but I can’t get her away. He always seems to get her to go back.”

“Ain’t no helping someone that doesn’t want it,” I say, pulling my cigarette packet from my pocket and placing one between my lips. I head outside, leaving Ryker to comfort Harlow in the hope they’ll pick up where they left off.

I lean against the brick wall just outside the club. It’s still pretty early, and so the street is still busy with evening diners. I light my cigarette, inhaling deep and closing my eyes. The sound of a muffled sob has me opening one eye and looking around. There isn’tanyone close by and so I listen harder to see if I can locate the sound. It comes again with a low thud and I follow it to the alley way that runs between the club and the bar next door. Its where all the industrial sized bins are kept and most people avoid it because it stinks of piss and rubbish.

As I get closer, I see Harlow’s friend and her husband. He has her by the throat with his face pressed close to hers, while whispering something into her ear. Her eyes are squeezed closed and she’s quietly sobbing, causing her shoulders to shake.

I take a few steps closer, my heavy boots crunching on the gravel, gaining his attention. He frowns, “Are you following me shit head?” He releases his woman, shoving her away from him so that she lands in a heap on the floor. “Stay down,” he orders herm before turning back to me.

“I don’t like to hear girls cry,” I tell him, taking one last drag of my cigarette before dropping it to the ground and crushing it under my boot.

“Then go back inside and you won’t hear it.”

“I can’t do that I’m afraid,” I say, keeping my tone bored.

“Then I’m real sorry about what’s gonna happen next,” he warns, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a blade.

I roll my eyes at his predictability. “You don’t need to be sorry. In fact, I’m glad you pulled that out. Come at me,” I encourage, with a smile.

He growls, lunging forward, right into my trap. I grab his wrist, letting the blade scratch my palm, before pulling him to me. I twist his hand and press the blade into his stomach. He hisses, trying to step back, but I hold him in a bear hug. “Don’t pull away now, we’re just getting to know each other.”

The woman suddenly scrambles to her feet, rushing at me and trying hard to push between me and this dickhead. “Please stop, let him go,” she sobs, hitting at my arms.

“Lady, I’m just trying to help you,” I snap, releasing the guy and pushing him to the ground. He lands hard on the floor, groaning as he grips the blade in his stomach. The woman drops to her knees by his side, sobbing as she assesses him. It’s then that I notice a cut to her cheek and the dark bruise forming under her eye. “Why are you upset for him after what he just did?” I snap.

She looks up at me, her face tear stained, “He will kill me for this,” she hisses, patting the guys face to keep him awake.

“Then finish the job, do yourself a favour.”

“Why are you men so violent,” she asks, sniffling and wiping her nose on the back of her hand. “It doesn’t solve anything.”

The guys breathing becomes shallow and noisy, I must have caught him somewhere vital and I wince as he takes a few deep breaths before falling silent and slumping. Crow’ll be pissed if I call him out tonight, he’s on a hot date.

“Oh my god.” She sobs harder, leaning her ear to his mouth to check for breathing. “Pete, Pete, wake up.” She shakes him hard and his head lolls to the right. She looks up at me, “You killed him, you killed my boyfriend.”

“I thought he said he was your husband?” I ask.

“Jesus, you killed him and you’re acting like it’s normal. You’re not even bothered are you?”

I shrug and stuff my hands in my pockets, “Not really. It was him or me, I chose him.”

The girl lets out another muffled sob and covers her mouth. There’s a scuffling sound behind us and I turn to see Ryker pushing Harlow against the wall. He’s got his tongue down her throat and his hands are gripping her hips as he lifts her. He must feel my presence because he suddenly breaks away from her and turns to me. “Shit man, why’re you creeping about in the alley?” he pants.

The girl stands and Harlow spots her, “Sophia?”

“Harlow, quick, Pete’s dead. He killed him,” Sofia screeches, pointing an accusing finger at me.

“Aww Man, Crow is gonna kill you,” Ryker groans, stepping around the bin to see Pete for himself. “You want me to call him?” he asks. I nod, and he pulls out his phone, making the call to get the clean-up team here.

Harlow has Sophia in her arms, who’s still sobbing. I check out her pert backside as she’s still in her underwear, and I regret giving her to Ryker.

“We have to call the police,” sobs Sophia, and Harlow glances at me, shushing her friend and then whispering in her ear that they can’t do that. “Pete is dead, he killed him,” she repeats, and I roll my eyes, this bitch is becoming a pain in the arse.

Sophia “What’s up with your miserable face?” asks Harlow, placing a drink in front of me. I’d practised a bit more behind the bar after Jax left with Candy, but then Creep told me to chill for the rest of the night. I think my miserable face was putting the guys off. “I had sex today,” I say, unable to keep from sounding so glum about it. Harlow gasps in surprise. “With Jax,” I add. Her eyes widen and she leans closer. “I thought he scared the shit outta you?” she hisses. “Well he does, but things just happened really quick. Anyway, he instantly regretted it and basically told me to keep it quiet,” I say miserably. “He’s ashamed.” She rolls her eyes. “What did you expect? A lifelong commitment from the president of the Dark Souls? Take it as a win, Sophia, he’s hot, you’re both single and it’s a bit of fun. God knows you need it in your life after everything.” “You didn’t see the way he looked at me. I’ve never felt so . . . used.” I shudder as I picture Jax’s eyes and the look

I stare after her, watching through the window in the door, as she walks across the clubhouse to the bar. Tank is seated there and he turns as she approaches. He’s assessing her, occasionally glancing at the office like he’s expecting me to run out after her. Maybe he’s worked out what we just did. I groan, hating that I’ve screwed him over. I grab the keys to my bike and pull on my leather kutte. I need to get out of here and clear my head. I feel Sophia’s eyes follow me as I sweep through the club house and then I hear Candy’s heels click after me. “Jax, Jax,” she shouts, until I stop and turn to face her. “Fancy company?” I glance at Sophia who’s watching the exchange between us. An ache builds in my chest at what I’m about to do. I give a slight nod, then force myself to hold out my hand until she takes it with a huge grin on her face. Sophia turns her back, busying herself behind the bar, and I lead Candy out to my bike. I don’t want company. I don’t want to be around anoth

We stare at each other for a few seconds, I weigh up the need ripping through me with knowing that Tank wants this girl as much as me. But then her hands begin to untie the knot in her shirt and all I can do is watch helplessly. She pulls it open and the black lace bra taunts me. There’s just enough gap in the material to show the outline of her nipples. “Your turn,” she whispers and I drag my eyes from her breasts to her flushed cheeks. I know I shouldn’t. But I reach for the hem of my t-shirt and rip it over my head before I can change my mind. Her eyes rake over my torso, taking in the tattoo’s that cover every inch of skin. She lifts her hand and it hovers over my toned abs, almost like she’s unsure if she should touch me. I step closer, giving her no choice and she inhales sharply before running her fingers over my skin. She brings her eyes back to mine as her hand flutters down towards the button of my jeans. She pops it open effortlessly, giving me the green light. Our mouth

It’s getting late, I have a shit tonne of paperwork to plough through but the raucous laughter coming from the clubhouse keeps dragging my attention away from business. I throw my pen down and rub my forehead in frustration, maybe I should just go and seewhat’s going on out there and get back to this shit later on when the place is quieter. I throw my pen down and head out to the main room. There’s a crowd of my men at the bar. They’re cheering loudly and I head over to see what all the fuss is about. I’m astounded by the sight before me. Sophia is laid out on the bar whilst a few of the guys do body shots from her stomach. Her shirt is tied into a knot above her pierced navel, and her arms are laid out above her head in a teasing pose. I look around, hoping Tank is witnessing this shit and feels just as pissed about it as me. But when I scan the room, I spot him sitting over the other side talking to Ryker. I head over with my blood pumping, rushing through my veins, ready to burs

When I get back out to the bar, Ryker is still seated there and Harlow as now arrived. “Hey sweetie,” I say giving her a quick hug, it’s great to see a friendly face. “Hey,” she mutters, “Are they treating you good?” I notice she looks sad. I give a nod, “So far, I have zero complaints. My room is nice, I can get food when I want, and I’m surrounded by eye candy.” I add a small laugh to show I’m kidding but she doesn’t return it. “I want an answer, Harlow,” grumbles Ryker, glaring in her direction. “The answer is no,” she snaps. “I let you see her, didn’t I?” he growls. “But she can’t leave yet, when you let her leave, I might change my mind,” she snaps, taking a seat at the bar. He mutters something under his breath about women being a pain in his arse, and then he stomps off to Jax’s office. I lean over the bar, “Wow what were you saying no to?” “He asked me for sex,” My eyes go wide in shock and Harlow nods as if confirming my need to question that statement. “Wow, not

An hour later and I realise just how hard it can be. I’ve messed up a few pints, but practise makes perfect as Creep keeps telling me. He laughs at my failed attempt number six and pours it down the sink. “Ryker, what can I get you?” asks Creep in a cheery tone as Ryker takes a seat at the bar. “Usual,” mutters Ryker. Creep sets about showing me Ryker’s usual, which is easy, a whisky neat. I place it on the bar and Ryker looks up. “Does Pres know you’re behind the bar?” I shrug, “I was bored, I don’t want paying or anything.” There’s a commotion coming from Jax’s office and we all look in that direction as the door swings open and a woman stomps out, followed by Jax. “I asked you and you turned me away for fucking Bea, I’m sick of it Jax,” she screams. “Someone get in here and clean this fucking mess up,” yells Jax. Creep shoves a sweeping brush and dustpan in my hands, and I glare at him, “Me?” He nods, gently pushing me in the direction of Jax’s office. Great, now I’m the sl
