Eldion could only watch from one of the surrounding towers of the ancient temple where he was brought by Alanca as two intruders suddenly appeared in the courtyard and fought the snake creature. Wen broke away from Casser and Eldion and approached Alanca, but careful not to come too close. Despite everything that Alanca did to them, Wen could only feel pity for her. Enzir and Lankko left the temple city as fast as they could. Enzir held the jade statue triumphantly in his hand, cherishing the moment when he had succeeded in defeating the snake creature that had long been seen by his family as an enemy and had prevented his own household from exploring the jungles outside Alnoc. The blade came down the statue hard and the statue fell out of the flat rock where Lankko had placed it. Enzir’s jaw dropped and his eyes widened, looking at Lankko in disbelief.Lankko bent down to pick up the statue from where it fell on the ground and examined it closely. “Interesting," he said as he looked at the place where his blade hit the statue. He felt its energy when the statue was still at the temple, pulsing as if it were alive. It was able to mask all other currents of energy and overshadowed Mira’s trail that he was following with his senses. In the short time that Lankko was able to sense the energy flowing in all things, it was the first time that he sensed energy of such magnitude and he felt drawn to it. The jade statue had grown to the size of an adult man and the jade color had started to fade into a natural skin tone. Before his very eyes, Lankko found that the jade statue had transformed into a real man, complete with the attire of an ancient Alnoc artisan and holding the tools of his trade. Earlier that day, Casser left Eldion and Wen at the temple and soon reached the bridge that crossed the moat. From there, he ran as fast as he could until he reached the tall reeds that grew over the swamp.
