42. Moonlight

Opening the door, I saw a set of stairs underneath. We cautiously ventured down the stairs into a hidden room, and our eyes widened with a mix of trepidation and disbelief. There, lying on a tattered and worn-out bed, were the bodies of two wolves. Their once powerful forms appeared frail and weakened, as if the very essence of life had been drained from them. "Alpha," one of the wolves whispered and that was confirmation enough for me. "We've found them Lucien, I am sending them back now."

I knelt down beside the pair, my heart heavy. Their breaths came shallow and uneven, their features etched with exhaustion. It was clear that they had suffered at the hands of some unknown force. The air surrounding them crackled with a strange energy, and I couldn't help but wonder if dark magic was at play. "I think there might be some magic involved as well, we might need Louis for this," I continued to mind link, hoping that he could hear me.
