Cade

JACE's POV

" Why Jace ? A beta is always supposed to be at his Alpha's side . Just let me do my job . " Alec reasons , but he knows when the time comes , he can't go against my command and he will have to leave eventually .

I roll my eyes .

Alec knows the reason well enough without me having to explain it . I'm not going to display my affection and ruin my reputation here . So the best thing to do is to remain absolutely silent and carry through with the plan .

Absolutely sil-

*Grunt*

I glare at Michael , the source of the noise .

" What ? The cooler is heavy ! Heads are heavy . " He yells in a whispered tone .

I look at the guards on the other side of the wall . It seemed that they noticed the noise as well and were coming our way . I motion Alec to follow me and silence them before it's too late .

We stick to the wall like glue and wait for them to approach us . When they're close enough that we can reach them with just a step .. We clasp our hands against their mouth and snap their necks . The snapping was quite loud despite my efforts to muffle it . I look around but there aren't any other guards or scouts nearby that could've heard it .

And the scouts that were dragging the screaming vampire are already deep into the forest by now .

Step one of the plan , seems alright , for now .

" Let's head in " I say . We walk to where the guards had stood before . The gate .

I open the gate by the handle and only manage to open it half way before excruciating pain strikes my hand causing me to pull it back as a reflex and suck in my breath .

" Wolfsbane " I growl .

" I am so glad you're the one who opened the gate " Michael chuckles , recieving a sharp look in response .

" What ? You heal fast so it isn't a problem . Go on now , open the rest of it . "

Sometimes I get the urge to kill Michael myself . If it wasn't for his fighting skills and loyalty , I would've annihalated him months ago . However , it is hard to be bored around him . I just don't know if it's a plus point or a con .

I ignore his words and use a hankerchief to open the gate and head in . It's .. quite dark .

There aren't any lamps on the sides of the walls either . Isn't that how vampires castles are lit ? Or do they have LED lights since it's a modern era ? Not quite sure ..

Before I even begin to reach for my phone , Alec has turned on his phone flashlight and marched in . He was uncomfortable with this plan but now he seems a bit too enthusiastic doesn't he ?

The stairs led to a door . It seemed to be closed with a lock .

" This wasn't in the plan . What now ? If we break it down , there will be too much noise and we will get caught for sure " Michael whispers .

" Give me a second " Alec brings out a few pins and tools from his pocket and sticks them into the lock , churning it with clicking sounds .

" Alec , I knew I could count on you . " I pat his back .

He is quite resourceful . Though it is a thing I'm quite impressed by , I understand the circumstances that forced him to be like this . Alphas have no room for pity though . Nobody has a perfect life . Everyone is supposed to suffer in their own way .. One way or another .

That's how we grow as a race . Through suffering . That's what life is and the sooner we come to accept that , the more we can appreciate people for who they are .

Michael gasps over exaggeratively .

" Does .. this mean .. you don't count on me ? " He pouts with a hmph sound .

" That depends . Have you done anything useful today ? "

He points to the cooler .

" We may be werewolves but this shit is heavy as fuck . I carried it for a whole kilometer . With no noise . " I raised my eyebrow at the no noise part .

" Almost no noise " He corrects himself .

I give him a small pat on the back and it seemed to do the trick .

There's a huge clack sound and I realise Alec has finally unlocked the door . He pushes it open and with a creak it lets light flood through the stairs and into our eyes , almost blinding us for a good whole second .

Michael pokes his head out the door and takes a glance .

" There are 2 guards at the front door , it's quite far though . I think we can make it to the second floor through the side stairs without them noticing . " He whispers .

I take that as a cue to continue and we glide up the stairs with utmost silence .

Left wing .

2nd floor .

Third door .

Alec , as discussed , stays outside the door near the stairs in case someone comes up .

Michael and I will enter the room an-

' She's here ? ' Cade interupts my thought process with a whine .

I frown.

' Obviously she's here , Cade . That's why we're here . To kidnap her . Have you not been paying attention this whole time ? What if I need you suddenly for a fight ? '

I can't help but be dissapointed at my wolf slacking off at such an important momen-

' She . Is . Here . ' He growls in confirmation this time . Before I could gain control of him , he rises and gains half of my control .

At the very least , I'm glad he didn't take full control of me without my permission . He is a very agressive wolf , and though all werewolves have a pact with their wolf concerning control . Cade does whatever he wants . Whenever he wants .

One day .. I'll get him to make a pact with me .

I unknowingly growl , open the door and barge in , thanks to Cade . My bones were cracking , like I was beginning to shift .

Well , that's unsightly . There was a girl on a bed with a man on top of her . She yelps , startled , and gets up , pushing the man away .

" Who the hell are you ? " She asks , looking quite frightened .

Her voice , eyes , neck , body , hair .. everything . When my body shivered in response to everything , I knew instantly . Who she was .

She was my mate . And she had a man on top of her .

Another man . Instead of me .

Rage . It's a wonderful thing sometimes isn't it ? It blocks out all your other senses and helps you focus clearly on a single goal . There's no room for indecisiveness in the midst of a raging spell . There's nothing holding you back . No morals , sense of conscience or concern of what your actions may result in . All you see is red . All you feel is adrenaline .

' Sit down and watch ' Cade growls . This is bad .

I felt myself fading away from what was in front of me as my vision is blackened completely .

' Cade just fucking relax . Don't do anything rash . Let's talk about it first '  I knew there was no point in reasoning with him once he's made his decision .

' How do you feel about that man .. touching our mate all over ? Kissing her ? ' Cade asks with an eeriness in his tone .

I growl .

I wasn't much more sensible than he was . Perhaps only slightly . If he provokes me like this .. Me giving him control willingly would make him even stronger than he usually is when he takes control by force .

' Are you even an Alpha if you can't protect your mate from another male ? Pathetic . If we had gotten here a bit later , we'd find them fucking ' He growls with menace and taunt .

I couldn't help but give in to his provocation .
