The crowd roared like a beast hungry for blood. The underground boxing ring was dimly lit, the stench of sweat, beer, and raw adrenaline thick in the air. The arena was hidden beneath an old warehouse in the Bronx, where only the elite, the reckless, and the rich had access. This wasn't the polished, sanctioned world of professional boxing this was primal. No rules, no mercy, just pure combat. And at the center of it all, undefeated, untouchable, was Kane Shawn.

Standing at 6'5", with a body carved from years of brutal discipline, he was a titan among men. His blonde curls were damp with sweat, sticking to his forehead as he rolled his shoulders, his enormous arms flexing with ease. His skin glistened under the dim lights, his six-pack rippling with every movement. But it was his face that truly set him apart a masterpiece of sharp lines and perfect imperfections. His light blue eyes had the power to pierce through a man's soul, making even the most confident opponents hesitate. His lips, full and sinful, often twisted into a smirk that made women weak and men envious.

Tonight, he was up against another monster a man rumored to be just as deadly, just as ruthless. But Kane had heard it all before. He had been breaking men in this ring since he was seventeen, back when he had nothing but his fists and raw anger to survive. Now, at twenty-nine, he wasn't just a fighter he was the fighter. The undisputed underground champion, a legend whispered about in hushed tones. Even in the world of illegal fights, he was untouchable.

The bell rang, and the fight exploded into motion. His opponent came at him fast, a mountain of muscle and aggression. Kane barely blinked. He danced around the strikes with terrifying ease, his movements almost lazy. He wasn't just strong; he was precise. Calculated. And when he finally threw his first punch a devastating right hook it landed with a sickening crunch. His opponent staggered. Blood. Broken nose. A moment of hesitation.

Kane grinned. A predator sensing the kill.

It didn't take long. A few more expertly placed hits, a perfectly timed uppercut, and the man crashed to the ground like a felled tree. The referee didn't even bother counting. The fight was over. Kane had won. Again.

The crowd erupted, chanting his name, screaming for more, but Kane barely heard them. He stood over his fallen opponent, breathing heavily, his knuckles bruised and bleeding. The thrill of the fight was still there, but it wasn't enough. Not anymore.

Hours later, he was back in his penthouse in Manhattan, standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the glowing city. His mansion was a masterpiece of modern architecture sleek, glass walls, marble floors, and high-tech everything. He had everything a man could want. Cars. Wealth. A software company that had climbed into the top ten in the world, making him one of the richest men alive.

And yet, he felt empty.

For years, he had drowned himself in excess. Money, power, women. The latter came easy to him too easy. His reputation as a fighter, combined with his devastating good looks and raw masculine presence, made women throw themselves at him. And he took them. Every night, a different one. Models, actresses, socialites some he didn't even bother remembering their names. They all wanted the same thing. A taste of the undefeated champion.

But lately, it wasn't enough.

He had spent years indulging in every fantasy, every dark desire that crossed his mind. He wasn't gentle, wasn't soft. He liked control. He liked watching a woman fall apart beneath him, surrendering completely. He liked pushing them past their limits, making them beg. But even that thrill had started to fade.

Because none of them meant anything.

Tonight, his bed was empty. For the first time in years, he hadn't brought anyone home. He had craved something different, something real. Something lasting.

His adoptive parents , because Mr. and Mrs. Shawn were the only real family he had ever known had given him everything. Love, stability, a chance at a future. He had bought them a beautiful house in Spain, where they were living their best lives, far from the violence that had shaped his youth. They had always wanted more for him. They wanted him to settle down, to find someone who would love him beyond the titles, beyond the money.

Maybe it was time.

Maybe it was time to leave the underground fights behind. To step away from the brutal world that had made him who he was. His software empire was already thriving he could focus on that, build something lasting. He had enough money to last ten lifetimes.

So why did he feel like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, staring into the unknown?

His fists clenched. He had spent his life being the strongest, the deadliest. But this... this craving for something permanent? This desire for something deeper, something true?

It terrified him.

And Kane Shawn had never been afraid of anything.

Kane was furious. He stood behind his desk with one hand braced against the polished wood, his phone pressed to his ear, his eyes fixed on the Manhattan skyline beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows."Say it again."The man on the other end hesitated."Her father showed up at the boutique around noon. He asked to speak with her privately. One of the employees saw them near the side entrance."Kane's jaw tightened."And?""She came back looking shaken."His fingers curled against the edge of the desk."Did he touch her?"There was a pause."From what I was told, he put his hand on her head."Silence.Kane closed his eyes.He could see her.Mona sitting on his kitchen counter with a bowl of ramen between her hands, laughing over something completely ridiculous. Then another image replaced it.The scars. The nightmares. The trembling hands she tried so hard to hide. The way her voice had changed when she'd finally told him what her father had done.Kane opened his eyes. That man had alread

You can heat whatever you want."Flora nodded sleepily."I'm not going anywhere.""Good.""I'm probably just going to sleep and scroll TikTok."Mona smiled."Sounds productive.""Extremely."Mona grabbed her bag."Lock the door after me, okay?""Yes, mother.""And don't give Stanley too much food."Flora looked offended."I would never."Mona pointed

  • KANE   Girls Night

Kane pulled up outside her building.Mona looked through the window. The huge construction truck was gone. She noticed several workers' tools had been packed away too."Oh."She smiled."They've actually done a lot."Kane glanced toward the building."Good."She turned to him."Thank you.""For what?"She smiled."For everything ."His expression softened."Get upstairs safely.""I will."She leaned over and kissed his cheek."Goodnight, big boy.""Goodnight, princess."She opened the door."Mona."She turned."Call me when you get inside."She smiled."Yes, boss."He shook his head as she climbed out.She waved before walking toward the building. The moment she stepped inside, she noticed the difference. The entrance looked cleaner. Some of the old fixtures had already been removed.Even the elevator doors had been marked with a notice about the ongoing work.Mona smiled. Her landlord really was getting things done quickly. She climbed the stairs, humming softly. But halfway up, she

  • KANE   The Surprise

KANE"Work will begin today, sir.""Okay."I ended the call and dropped my phone onto the desk. The conversation with Mona's landlord had been brief.Very brief.I had made my expectations clear. An elevator was needed . The security needed improvement. The building needed a few structural fixes. And I wanted it handled without disturbing Mona's life.I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my eyes.My desk was covered with reports. My laptop displayed three different financial projections.I had a meeting in thirty minutes. Two calls waiting.A contract that needed my signature. And a cybersecurity report sitting on my desk that I already knew was going to piss me off.My assistant stood quietly in front of my desk."Sir, you have a meeting in thirty minutes. Do you need me to cancel it?""No."My answer was immediate. She nodded."Okay, sir.""Anything else?""No, thank you, Arlene.""You're welcome, sir."Arlene turned and walked out. She'd worked for me long enough to understand that

Mona sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. She dragged herself out of bed, pulled on an oversized T-shirt, and padded barefoot toward the kitchen.Stanley's breakfast came first.Always.She sprinkled a little food into his bowl and watched him immediately swim toward it."There you go."She leaned closer."You know, you're very lucky. I don't even feed myself this early."Stanley continued eating."Ungrateful."Mona smiled and reached for her phone. Her weekly pay had come in.She stared at the amount for a moment, a small smile slowly spreading across her face.It was a fortune for her .Money she'd earned herself.Money she could use to buy groceries, finish setting up her apartment, and put a huge chunk aside. She slipped her phone into her purse."Okay, Stanley. Grocery run."She grabbed her bag and headed downstairs. The moment she stepped outside, she stopped.A huge truck was parked directly in front of the building.Several workers were unloading equipment, while another man stood

  • KANE   The Party 2

KANE'S POVSunday.I had known Mona was planning something.I just hadn't known what. She'd been acting suspiciously cheerful all week. Every time I asked what she was doing on Sunday, she'd smile, kiss me, and tell me it was a secret.Mona wasn't particularly good at keeping secrets. She was terrible at lying. But she was very good at looking innocent while doing both.I could have found out.It would have taken me less than an hour.A few calls.A little digging. One message to the right person.I'd have known exactly who she invited, what she bought, and what she was planning. But I didn't.Because she wanted to surprise me.And for once, I wanted to let her.So when I pulled up outside her building that afternoon, I had no idea what waited upstairs. The first thing that bothered me was the building itself.I stared at it through the windshield.Old brick.Poorly maintained entrance. One light above the doorway that flickered every few seconds. The neighborhood wasn't exactly what
