AZALEA'S POV

The whole pack school was in uproar as I arrived, chaos and excitement, over the news of our pack hosting the next mating moon ceremony for the alliance. I graduated Highschool a year early and decided to take a gap year till I got my wolf instead of going to college right away. I took a job as a Teaching assistant to Grade 7 and 8 of the school.

It was a great job, but it attracted a lot of weird looks and attention when people my age were still in grade 11 or 12 freaking out over prom, or in this case, the dangerous Alpha of Red Fire pack of the North coming to visit for the mating moon ceremonies which is simply a modern werewolf version of debuting to the ton. Ladies get all dolled up for hours to attend an exclusive party in the hopes of finding a man. You only qualified to attend if you have shifted, the rest of the children stay away from the actual mating process.

Eloise always goes, and returns with the same surly expression on her face and irritable mood.

Mum whispering encouraging words to her, Dad giving a quiet forced smile and disappearing off to his study for the next 2 days.

This time felt different, Dad was whistling happily like he had just won the lottery. And even though I didn't mean to eavesdrop on my parent's conversation, but apparently, the Alpha had reason to believe Eloise was his fated mate.

I used to always look forward to mating moon ceremonies before I turned 18, to the day I’d meet my mate and he’d claim me as his, flaws and all, but now, dread fills me as the ceremony draws nearer.

If Eloise found her mate this coming mating moon, all attention would automatically shift to me. There is a low possibility I would find a mate without my wolf, and if I don’t, then I have no idea what becomes of me.

It would a lot easier if I knew who my biological parents are, if this was common in their blood line, but so far, I’m unlucky in that area as well.

Occasionally, the thought of finding my birth parents came to me. If I could find where I was from, maybe it would increase the chances of me getting a mate, for all I knew, there were thousands of people like me in a different community or deserted island and my mate was there, waiting for me.

Mom told me they had tried to find my birth parents when I was found, they took me to the alpha and tried for weeks, months and years, traveling all over the country and even Canada, till they adopted me on my 5th birthday. I went through a phase last year where I tried to find them, but there was too little information about me. I tried every thing, I had even done the online ancestry stuff but to no avail.

After trying and failing to clean the stain a random kid's drink made on my shirt in the rush hour of the morning, I finish with my business in the bathroom just as the bell for the next class rings. The hallways were empty by now and I was about to make a turn to my class of very active pre teen boys and girls when I noticed 3 boys corner a smaller boy, far down the hallway, ruffing him up.

"Didn't you hear the bell?, Get to class!." I shout but they ignore me land extra blows to the boy's tiny frame.

I run over and push the bigger boys away from him. Sadly, bullying is a very common occurrence in school.

Imagine a lot of egoistic males with heightened animal instincts in one small school.

The boy struggles to stand as I pull him up. "Go to the nurse." I tell him handing him my handkerchief for his bloody nose. His small frame didn't look a day over 14 years old against these 19 year olds

"If it isn't the Beta's daughter." One of them sang earning a nasty look. They are this cocky because it is a known fact that I do not have a wolf. So regardless of my father's position, they were higher than myself even though they were gammas.

"You took away our punching bag, what should we punch now?." The second one laughs pushing his mop blonde hair away from his face. I wince.

I suck in a breath as Kai's sinister smile rush to me. Since that night, small spaces frighten me and these guys are not helping.

I’m not usually bullied, people stay too far away to bully me, but sometimes, some guys are just natural idiots, they see a girl they’ve not slept with before and can’t take their eyes off.

“Hey hot stuff!.” One of them whistles.

I groan as they move closer. I roll my eyes to walk away from them, I really don't want any trouble but they put a jock wall in front of me. One guy I recognize from the lacrosse team pulls me back aggressively on my back pack. I stagger, biting on my lip with a hiss, remembering the way Kai flung me across my room.

“Babe, my friend here wasn't done talking.” The guy says with laughter in his voice. I sigh loudly and untuck my hands from the back pack and turn around to face them, slowly. A round of small laughs fills my ears.

'I don't have time for this.'

Without any warning, I grip on both straps of the bag, plugging my feet to the ground, taking the strength from my waist, I swing, throwing him across the room with the bag. His friends gasp loudly, they didn’t expect that.

“Freak!. I told you the Beta's daughter is a freak!” The first one curses and tries to lunge at me, but suddenly the same way his friend held me, he’s being held up by a bigger guy.

"Hey, hey! what the?." My bully gasp again, he kicks and wriggles to free himself from the bigger guy, but to no avail, the big guy had a firm grip, with just one arm. The other guy I threw struggles to stand up, I glance at him to see blood running from his nose. Their third runs to his aid and they run off leaving the lacrosse guy behind.

‘Nice,’ I applaud myself.

“Why don’t you pick on somebody your own size.”

  • KING'S MATE   73. MATING FURY

HENRY'S POVThe nightmare came again. It always started the same way—me as a child, running barefoot through the woods, the shadows stretching long and hungry, the sound of my own breath too loud in my ears. I could hear him behind me, the headless man, his blade scraping against the bark of trees, a jagged whisper of death. My legs burned, my lungs screamed, but I dared not stop.I tripped. The forest melted away.I was home. Sitting in the living room of my childhood house, the scent of stew wafts from the kitchen. My mother laughed softly, speaking to a woman I couldn’t see. The voice was familiar. Warm. Comforting. For the first time in my life, I hear the voice clearlyAzalea. But before I could move, before I could even reach for her, the scene shifted again. This time, the nightmare did not follow its usual course. My father was no longer the one kneeling, begging for mercy. It was her. Bound, bruised, silver hair matted with blood. And standing above her, blade at her throat, wa

  • KING'S MATE   72. NO SAVIOR

AZALEA POV "Don't you dare fucking touch him!" I shouted, my face red with fury. Lexa starts shouting through the duct tape too."No more shit like that, alright?" He grabs my face with force as if trying to break my jawline.I can only glare at him as he breaks into another monstrous smile. The doctor comes once again, this time with a gnash on her face almost matching mine."The doc will check if your blood level is enough for another draw." He announces and leaves. She was quiet while checking my blood and vitals, as she usually is, but I couldn't help myself from asking about her face."I'm sure you didn't decide to match with your patient. Who did that, Kai?"At first she doesn't respond and turns to the guards. "She needs to eat something if she's to survive another draw."I slip a scalpel from her tray as she talks to him. If we were to have any chance of escaping this place, I need some kind of weapon."If you do not cooperate, it affects us all." She whispers shakily to me as

  • KING'S MATE   71. LAST DOCTOR

AZALEA'S POV"Azzy, what's going on?" Lexa asks in a serious tone after the evil doctor leaves. I was sure we were being watched, so I didn't want them to suspect a thing."Do you know where Justin is?" I ask instead, shaking my head."On our way here, I noticed a room just like the one I was in with two hefty men guarding it, so I guess."I nodded furiously. "Lexa, look at me, things are definitely not how they used to be, everything we thought we knew." Tears gathered in my eyes. Everything I thought I knew was unfolding right in front of my own eyes. It was scary. I just had to trust that I could keep myself and my siblings alive like Mum and Dad told me to if Henry also decides to betray me as a sacrificial lamb."I'm so sorry I failed to protect you, but I promise I will get us out of here alive.""I don't understand, Azzy. What are you talking about? What was Kai saying?" She asks, still sobbing"Kai is no longer who we think he is." She nods, seeming to have gathered that much b

  • KING'S MATE   70. WAR ACCESS

HENRY'S POV Shaking my head with amusement. "Still the same hotheaded bastard, I see." I smirked and clasped Gray’s forearm in an elongated weird handshake I didn't think I remembered that we made up when we were kids. "Still the same arrogant prick." I looked around quickly for Eli, its best I keep these two apart for a while. Gray chuckled before my eyes landed on the woman beside him. She had bright brown eyes and an air of quiet confidence. My brows lifted. "Your mate?" Gray in a manner I've never seem him before stammered, avoiding eye contact and the girl—Emma, I assumed—cleared her throat. I crossed my arms. "Oh, this is interesting." They have definitely fucked. I arch an eyebrow at Gray laughing. He sighed as she gagged at my eyebrow, pulling me aside. "It’s…..Uh complicated. But listen, Emma has rare abilities. She saved my life, Henry. And she might be able to help us." "Help how?" Gray’s expression darkened. "She gets visions. She sees things others can’t." Emma gi

  • KING'S MATE   69. CAUTIONED CHAOS

HENRY'S POVI sat at the edge of my desk, my fingers pressing into my temples as I stared at the glowing map and countless computer screens before me. My eyes burned from lack of sleep, but I couldn't stop. I wouldn't stop.Azalea was out there, suffering, and I was stuck here, unable to do anything.I used to take huge pride in my collection of super computers with accuracy of 0.00001 to trace even the tiniest signals. I personally designed the tech lab myself, I gathered only the best from all around the world, Eli and the rest of the tech team are the very best among werewolves.Yet when it truly matters, the best computers and the best tech team can't seem to trace one person. Right now, as I stared and listened for the continuous chime and beeping from over 50 computers in every corner of the 1500 square feet lab I wanted to smash everything into tiny balls and set it all on fire.My frustration boiled over, and I slammed my fist against the table, the sound echoing through the ro

  • KING'S MATE   68. MONSTER GOD

AZALEA'S POVMy breath hitched, my heart hammering violently against my ribs as I tried to process the impossible. Kai. My brother. And yet, he stood there, grinning like a madman, his red eyes gleaming under the dim lights. The once familiar warmth in his gaze had been replaced by something dark, twisted, malevolent."K-Kai?" My voice was hoarse, cracking under the weight of my disbelief. "How are you.....alive?." I puased to ask. Till now, I had thought he was in the fight that night of the attack. I remember dad saying something about calling him. I didn't know if he died or survived, but Ryder had assured me that no one alive was left behind in the pack. His sinister smirk only widened as he stepped closer. "Oh, sister, don't look so surprised, I was never truly gone," he taunts, stepping closer. "Did you really think you were the only one who survived?"."Something was deeply wrong. My instincts screamed at me to get away, to fight, to do anything but remain vulnerable before him
