Luis managed to arrive before Rosvo's body was packed in a plastic bag to be taken away for an autopsy. Kitty was sitting beside him on the wet pavement, her big head on her knees. Blood was still beginning to thicken from her bared mouth onto her jeans. Tom, clutching the roaring Tapi to his chest, was talking to the constable, trying not to let his beloved out of his sight.

- Is he okay? Lou touched the curly little head of his son in a funny eared hat with his palm. Tom nodded briefly.

Nightmare. The damn nightmare came back into their lives all at once, in one day... Horror with a nauseating spasm twisted the stomach into a knot. Trying not to look into the dog's glassy eyes, Louis knelt beside him. She wept in silence, large tears flowing down her cheeks, which immediately mixed with a drizzle of rain.
