For a whole day, I kept thinking about Chase's words. I’m battling with myself to go or not. A side of me wanted to go another side of me wanted to stay. But I’m curious as to why he wants to meet me. Does he know the reason why I wanted to kill him? Or is this one of his plans to kill me instead.
"Ruby, what’s with the hanging?" my eyes snapped up to look at Austin who raised his eyebrow. I shook my head and continue with my train. "Nothing, just feeling tired a little."
"Wow, this is the first time hearing Ruby is tired." I rolled my eyes. "You’re exaggerating. I may be a mafia puppet but I’m still human too."
"Right. So wanna spare?" I stop what I'm doing and turned to a smirking Austin. "Are you sure? Cause the last time we spare, I almost broke your hand." My lips curl up to a smirk. He rolled his eyes. "That was a long time ago. Now, I’m stronger than you."
"Okay, if you say so."
The two of us are currently
"I think you will, Liv." My eyes widen and I stood there frozen. "Or should I say, Olivia White?" The gun that I pointed straight at him, slowly fall on my side, and the grip I had on it loosen. The confidence and strength that I have just vanished. And right now, I feel bare, like he saw every inch of me.Chase walked around me with his intense eyes. "My guess was right." He whispers harshly to me. I can’t help but flinch. I never flinched at anyone before and yet here I am flinching only with his harsh whispered.I try to argue with him but I can’t seem to find my own voice. My mouth went dry like a dessert that needed water."I must say, you really play your part well. From Ruby, Halsey, Cassie, and lastly to your old self Olivia. So tell me why did you do all of this?" he stood in front o
Blake stood in front of me crossing his arms while glaring at me. I got a feeling he will interrogate me like usual. "What’s up?""Where have you been?""Out." I simply said. "Out where to be exact?" I lean back to the car door. "Buying food. I was craving for in and out." "And where is the food?" he said while raising his eyebrow. "I ate it," I said as a matter of fact. "Where is the location of in and out?""Okay, what is this? Why are you asking? Are we playing 20 questions?""I’m just making sure you didn’t go wander around.""Because I didn’t.""But you lied for the past 2 minutes." I let out a
"That’s your plan?" Drake asked after I’ve done explaining to my friends. We are now in the living room with me standing in front of my friends and telling them my idea. Oh and I told them about my conversation with Michael."Are you sure this is going to work?" Austin joins in. I shrugged. "I don’t know but the last time we did this, Wyatt and Gerald died. So I think there will be a higher chance that this plan will go well.""Wyatt and Gerald are both dumb but Chase, he is smart and he always one step ahead of us." I scoffed as Austin said that. "He might be smart but we still ahead of him." I cross both of my arms over my chest while looking at them one by one. "The question is, are you guys in or not? I won’t force you guys to come with me." I tapped my foot patiently while waiting for them to respond."I’m in," Emily said."Me too." Drake and Austin said."I’m the technician so I’ll follow whatever you
I was almost done getting ready when my door burst open revealing Blake. I rolled my eyes and continue what I was doing. "What do you want?" I said with a bored tone."I suggest you cancel this plan.""And why is that?""You're wrong if you think you are going to pull this. Chase is a smart man and I know he will be one step ahead of you.""Okay, thanks for the heads up. If he is one step ahead of us, then we need to be two steps ahead of him." I said as I reload my gun. "Why do you care anyway? I thought you were the one who didn't want to involve in this plan.""I am but I was only looking out for you. You never know what he has behind his sleeve." Turning around, I face Blake. "That was really touching but that won't change my mind." Grabbing my blazer and bag, I walked out from the room. I already spotted my team in the living room.We have a little briefing then we leave the house at 4. Drake, Matt, and Austin took the van whereas Emily
"Curious to find out the champagne you spike went?" he leaned forward with a smirk etched on his lips. "See that old man wearing expensive tux with women on each side? He is holding the drink that should be mine." My eyes widen in shocked. Shit! Chase is my target not the old man. I can’t let him drink the champagne or it will make the situation worse. A hand grab ahold of my arm to stop me as I stood up. "Where are you going? Planning to take the drink?" yanking my arm with no avail due to his death grip, he leans closer to my ear. "If you want to see that man survive, you must talk but if you plan otherwise then he’ll die." I face him as I clenched my jaw and glared at him in anger. "There’s nothing to talk about." "Oh, trust me babe, there is." I hissed. "Do not call me that." He raised his brows amusedly. "Why getting the feeling of déjà vu?" balling my fist up, I pressed my body to him catching him off guard. "You know what? Let the old m
I open my eyes and immediately squinted as it made contact with the bright light. I feel something tight on my wrist but trying to move was absolute agony. The wound from the gunshot earlier hasn’t been treated and the fabric is still wrapped around my arm. I groaned in pain as I tried to wiggle my hands as the pain shoot right through my arm. I give up and examine the place instead. I looked around the room trying to figure out where I am, but no clue comes to mind. The room is quite small, but it can fit two people. I tilt my head back and realize there’s a bed and a bathroom in the left corner of the room. This place looks familiar. It looks like a motel room. But is it? I glanced at the clock on the bedside table and saw the time. 1:40 AM My eyebrow furrowed in confusion. How long was I out? More importantly, how am I here? What was the last thing I remember? All these questions ran through my brain. Closing my eyes in hope I could remember the last thing that happened.
The air in the dimly lit hotel room hung heavy with tension, thick enough to suffocate any semblance of ease. Chase, his steely gaze fixed upon me, seemed more like a predator ready to pounce than a man engaged in conversation. And here I was, Ruby, the unintended prey ensnared within his grasp.I shifted in my seat, not out of discomfort, but out of a calculated attempt to maintain some semblance of control in this precarious situation. "So, Chase," I drawled, feigning nonchalance as I met his gaze head-on, "what's a charming fellow like you doing in a dingy place like this?"Chase's expression remained impassive; his features carved from stone. "Cut the act," he retorted, his voice devoid of any trace of warmth. "I know why you're here. What I want to know is why you decided to crash the party and disrupt my plans."Ah, yes, the party. It seemed my little escapade had ruffled more feathers than I had anticipated. But then again, when did I ever play by the rules? "Well, Chase, darli
Chase Hudson The weight of the phone call lingered heavy in the air as I stood outside the hotel room, my mind racing with a tumult of conflicting emotions. "Boss," came the familiar voice on the other end, crisp and efficient as always. "Report," I commanded, my voice tinged with urgency. "There's been a development regarding the incident at the party earlier," my informant began, his tone grave. "We found out that she infiltrated the party using fake names and ID. She went undercover as a waitress, and she is not acting alone. There are four others involved in her plan." I clenched my jaw, my mind racing to piece together the puzzle before me. "Do we have any information on them?" I demanded, my patience wearing thin. "Unfortunately, no," my informant replied. "Their identities and whereabouts remain unknown. But from what we've gathered, they're not your run-of-the-mill criminals. They're skilled, elusive, and highly dangerous." I cursed under my breath, a sense of foreboding
