Evelyn
I looked up as a waitress placed my order, a vegetarian pizza, and salad on the table. I nodded with a light smile and the waitress walked away.
"It's good to hear you were able to get the contract with Silver Lining studio," Edward says with a proud smile that made me happy.
I loved being able to make my father proud. I've always worked my ass up my entire life so I could prove to him that I was capable of handling his businesses.
Unlike Nolan fucking Walters who has always had everything handed to him so easily.
Why the hell am I thinking about that ass here?
I placed the napkin on my thigh and cutlery on the table, gently cutting my way through the pizza. I held a small piece to my mouth and gently munched on it.
"Yes," I put the knife on the pizza, "and I beat Walter Corporation to it," I added with a smile.
Edward looked surprised for a while, but it soon disappeared.
"Walter Corporation wanted this contract too?" He asked and I nodded, developing a sudden curiosity.
"Yes, and Nolan Walters was a pain in the ass." I rolled my eyes, "he's an arrogant total piece of crap."
I looked up as Edward began to laugh. Did I say something funny?
"I and Nolan's father, Jared, were friends." He explained and my mouth was practically left hanging open.
I regained composure. "You never told me this, Why?"
"Come on. Jared died when you and Nolan were just eight years old," Edward defended himself and sadness flashed in his eyes for a split second which made me wonder how close they were.
"Plus, this is the first time I'll hear you mention Nolan in a conversation." He added.
I can't believe Nolan lost his father at such a young age. It must have been really tough for him.
"I feel bad for him, but I still hate his guts," I rolled my eyes and directed my attention back to my lunch. Just as I put a piece of Pizza in my mouth, Edward chuckled and I looked up.
"That's funny, cause you and Nolan were actually very good friends when you were still very young," Edward said and I cringed at the imagination of me and Nolan behaving like friends.
"Me and Jared joked a lot then about how you two could get married when you're older," Edward added and I almost choked on the Pizza in my mouth.
Get married to that douche bag?!! I would rather stay single for the rest of my life.

I sigh as I climb onto the stairs that led to the front door of my mansion. The door was opened by a guard and he greeted me with a nod. I returned the nod and sighed before walking into the building.
I could barely drop my bag on the couch when my phone rang out. I sighed and opened my bag, bringing out my cell phone.
Jessica.
I smiled and accepted the call, holding the phone to my left ear.
"Hi Eve. Oh, I've missed you so much." Jessica's loud voice suddenly attacked my ears and I squeezed my face, instinctively moving the phone a bit farther from my ears.
"Hi, Jess. How are you doing?" I asked and adjusted my bag on my arm, walking towards the stairs that led up to my room.
"I'm doing great. I'm actually on my way right now," she sounded excited and I suddenly stopped walking.
"Jess-" I started and stopped as I heard a car drive into the compound. I walked towards the window quickly with my heels clicking loudly against the white marble floor.
I pulled the curtain aside a bit and looked through the window to see a pink Lamborghini pull up next to my car.
I sighed and cut the call, setting the window blind back in place and walking towards the door.
The door opened and Jessica dashed into the house, pulling me into a tight hug.
She broke the hug and walked past me, dropping her handbag carelessly on the couch.
I closed the door and followed behind her, dropping my bag next to hers.
"I had a tight schedule today, you could have told me you were coming." I sat on a couch and bent down to take off my heels.
"I did tell you." She pouted and I shook my head.
"Yes, 30 seconds before driving in." I rolled my eyes and she pouted.
"You don't look happy to see your favorite cousin," Jessica said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears.
"No, It's just the workload taking its toll on me." I tried to clear any impression I might have given and curled my lips up into a smile.
"So, what's happening now?"
"Exciting as always, I'm actually going to meet a hot guy I met online at a club in thirty minutes and he'll be bringing his friend," Jessica explained with an excited smile.
"Will his friend come with a date?" I asked, developing an idea of how I could pass time and take my mind off everything.
"No, does this mean you're coming with me?" Jessica asked with her usual excitement and I nodded.
I didn't know who this guy was and I'm not a person who loved blind dates. I hated it whenever my mom tried to set one up for me and it usually never ends well.
I had a feeling that neither would this one.

Jessica drove into the parking lot and brought the car to a screeching halt. She retrieved her keys from the car and stepped out of the car. I did so too and walked behind her to the entrance of the club. The bouncers at the door nodded at us in recognition and let us in.
Probably recognized Jessica. Not me.
I felt my ears being harassed by the ridiculously loud music and my eyes twitched.
"Who's this guy you're meeting?" I asked, shouting so she could hear me between all of this music.
"Nolan." She replied and I stopped walking. Oh no!
"Nolan what?" I asked and Jessica also stopped as she noticed I had stopped following her.
"Walters. Nolan Walters." Jessica said and I froze for some seconds.
I can't be near that ass. I need to leave right now.
"Jess, I'll be right back." I turned around to leave, but I stopped as I collided into a rather familiar wall.
I didn't fall this time, but I staggered backward and slowly looked up to see those pairs of familiar eyes.
Nolan fucking Walters.
EVELYNEric was just one of 'those guys.' Nothing about him stood out. I wouldn't say he was handsome, but he had a good body—and he knew it. He was my date and I felt like killing Jessica for matching me up with a guy who stared at me like he wanted to eat me up.For some reason, I kept looking at Nolan, who seemed to be having a lot of fun with Jessica. They just couldn't keep their damn hands to themselves. Why didn't Jessica tell me she was on a date with Nolan? Jeez! This was annoying. The most annoying part was how Nolan acted when he saw me. He literally just walked past me. One would think we had never met."You know, you have very pretty legs," Eric said, smiling widely at me."I know," I responded nonchalantly."You seem stiff. Let me buy a drink." He offered, drawing closer to me.I seem stiff? What does that even mean?
NOLANI could still be out there at the club, having fun.I could've taken Jessica back to my place and banged her brains out.Instead, here I was, taking care of this unruly, spoiled princess while she had her head stuck in the toilet bowl.I had her hair twisted around my hand so I could hold her hair back while she threw up."There, there. You are alright," I said, patting her back. I rolled my eyes. How did I get stuck in this situation? But I couldn't just leave her there with Eric. I've known Eric since college, and the things he does with women are sometimes...how do I put it, unorthodox. I tried to reason with him and warned him about being a better person on several occasions but couldn't get it through his thick skull."I threw up on my new dress," Evelyn looked up from the toilet and said.
Evelyn. There was an awkward silence in the car as Nolan drove me home. I tap my fingers on the chair in impatience, I couldn't wait to reach home and be about a thousand metres away from Nolan. The jerk made me so agitated and angry earlier. When he lied about us having sex, I felt so devastated and my world felt like it had come to an end.I was super relieved when he confessed it was a lie. Such an ass.On the other hand, I was happy that he didn't do anything in my vulnerable state. He didn't take advantage of me, despite the silly acts I put up in my drunken state. I didn't expect to be safe in his hands.Thank goodness he was a disciplined man.I looked sideways to steal a glance at him and he also happened to face me at the same time. Our eyes met and Nolan's lips curled up into a cocky smile.
NOLANI didn't have anything against art sculptures or even how ridiculously expensive they were. Even as a little kid, I had attended many art sculptures sales events with my Dad and I had always found them quite boring. Just people spending loads of money on ancient-looking artworks.I would rather spend my money on sports cars. The auction began and for reasons I will never understand, a lot of the people present were so excited. They just couldn't wait to spend a chunk of their money on some artwork that will be hung on the walls in their home. And then they will get bored of it when something else catches their attention.Eve liked Robbie and not just as a friend. I noticed it the very moment I saw both of them together. The funny thing was Robbie was clueless, he probably would never know unless she tells him directly. Before the first sale b
EVELYNI walked away with the painting feeling triumphant. It always felt great when I won something against Nolan Walters. That cocky bastard can kiss my beautiful ass.I looked at the painting and scoffed. What did he mean this painting would remind me of him? Just because he wanted his grubby hands all over it? God, he is so damn self-centered.I put the painting down and headed to my car. My parents were expecting me for lunch, and I didn't want to be late. I still couldn't believe my father when he said Nolan and I were childhood friends. That's impossible. I must've been an idiot to associate with the likes of him."Evelyn, darling! I am glad you could make it. I made your favorite, Meatloaf," mom gushed as soon as I walked in."Mom, for the last time. It's Alisha's favorite meal. Not mine," I said irritably. Mom always put Alisha first because sh
Nolan. I picked up my jacket and my briefcase as my driver pulled over in the garage. "Take those art pieces in the boot inside, make sure nothing happens to them," I instructed the driver and opened the door. "I'll have them arranged later." I climbed down from the car and handed my briefcase to my Valet.....Henry. I finally remembered his name. My right hand found it's way to my neck and I sighed as I loosened my tie. I walked into the building and sighed loudly this time as I threw myself on a couch. I glanced at the stairs as the housekeeper, Mrs. Ellison climbed down, holding a vacuum cleaner. "Mrs. Ellison, have you seen Nathaniel," I asked as he hadn't showed up since I got back. "I think he's out at the back," she replied and I nodded. "Okay, can you please tell the cook to make me some tea," I stated as she walked in the direction of the Kitchen. I was so tired. There was no other person who could have made a simple art exhibition tiring except Evelyn Bennett. Who w
EVELYN Oh, for Christ's sake. Why do I have to deal with this guy tonight? Tonight was supposed to be the night I got to woo Robbie so I would have a date by Christmas. Then, I could finally bring a guy home so my mom would stop nagging at me about not having a date. "Are you stalking me?" I snapped at Nolan, who had the audacity to laugh at my annoyance. "Don't flatter yourself, darling," he said. "Don't darling me, dingbat. Why are you here?" I asked. "Last time I checked, a restaurant is a public establishment. And important people such as myself are more than welcome around here." Nolan grinned. "Important? HAH!" I laughed mockingly. "Laugh at me if you must, Eve. But ask the owner. I am their top customer. What are you doing here?" Nolan asked. "None of your business," I sat back and sulked. He was about to ruin my date, I knew it. "Now, could you please go away? I am expecting my date to show up any moment now." To my utter shock, Nolan didn't make an effort to leave. I
EVELYNNolan somehow convinced us to go along with his plan. I blame Robbie for that. But when I arrived at the place he suggested, I almost wanted to turn around and drive away.Of course that bastard picked this dump, I thought as I stared at the giant fluorescent sign that said, KARAOKE BAR in red. Inside was a large room that was dimly lit. Several disco lights were hanging from the ceiling. There was a DJ who had a table set up in the corner. I guess he was in charge of the music. I saw a couple singing duets. None of them were good singers, but they didn't seem to care, and neither did everyone else all around us. Most of the people were most likely too drunk to care.I waited until we got a booth in the corner. Robbie excused himself to go to the restroom."What are we doing here? We are not some drunk college kids," I barked, so Nolan knew I was not happy with this."Ms. Bennett! I am shocked! I thought you were the kind of woman who liked to have fun, but I guess I was wrong.
