EVELYN

Nolan somehow convinced us to go along with his plan. I blame Robbie for that.

But when I arrived at the place he suggested, I almost wanted to turn around and drive away.

Of course that bastard picked this dump, I thought as I stared at the giant fluorescent sign that said, KARAOKE BAR in red. Inside was a large room that was dimly lit. Several disco lights were hanging from the ceiling. There was a DJ who had a table set up in the corner. I guess he was in charge of the music. I saw a couple singing duets. None of them were good singers, but they didn't seem to care, and neither did everyone else all around us. Most of the people were most likely too drunk to care.

I waited until we got a booth in the corner. Robbie excused himself to go to the restroom.

"What are we doing here? We are not some drunk college kids," I barked, so Nolan knew I was not happy with this.

"Ms. Bennett! I am shocked! I thought you were the kind of woman who liked to have fun, but I guess I was wrong.
