2 | Confrontation

ELENA POV

Alpha Caleb.

As I stare at him, my face flushed, I see nothing but contempt flash in his eyes. Shaking my head to clear the fog, I'm instantly nauseous at my reaction. Of course he's absolutely gorgeous as most alpha's are with his dark blonde hair, green eyes, muscular build, and serious height; but he's also arrogant, rude, and a complete bully. I have no respect for someone who is supposed to be a leader preying on those that are weaker than him.

Instead of backing away, he shoves me off of him and sticks his foot out causing me to faceplant like a starfish in the hallway, while my books go flying across the floor. Rather than give him the satisfaction of getting mad or reacting, I choose to ignore him. But when I try to stand Alpha Caleb's girlfriend, Stephanie comes around the corner in time to kick my hands out from underneath me causing me to face plant again and laughs.

Ugh. That high pitched nasal laugh makes me want to rip my ears off. I have no idea how Caleb puts up with it all the time. She's dressed in a highlighter pink strapless dress that ends at her mid thigh and a red sweater with 5 inch silver heels. Her face is plastered in such thick makeup, I can't help but cringe. She looks like Barbie after a drunken night on the town. Yikes. She's probably over six feet tall, with model legs, long blonde hair, and honey brown eyes. Stephanie could be pretty if she didn't try so hard. Well, that and if she didn't have the personality of a piece of cardboard.

Despite being on the floor I can't stop the words from coming out of my mouth, "Oh hello, Stephanie, have a rough night last night?"

Me and my damn mouth. One day it's really going to get me into some serious trouble.

I want to rage at him. My skin vibrates with the need to hurt him like he is hurting me. I want to spit in his face so badly, I can taste the blood from biting my tongue to prevent myself from doing it. My mother was a warrior, my father a beta, I don't deserve this treatment. I will not kiss his boot or anyone else's.

I am still staring at him, the words on the tip of my tongue when a teacher comes around the corner. Before I can say anything, Alpha Caleb jumps in and tells her that I just tripped walking through the doors and they were helping me pick up my books.

I don't think she believes him but what can she do? He's the alpha's son, he's practically a god here. I can't stop the whimper that passes through my lips as she turns around to go back into her classroom.

My heart drops as the alpha turns towards me again and grabs my chin between his thumb and forefinger harshly, "This isn't over," he spits in my face. As he turns to walk away, Stephanie pours her drink all over my books and starts ripping the pages out. She throws the mess at me and turns on her heels, walking the other direction.

I stare after them in disbelief. I keep reminding myself of the fact I only have a few more days until I graduate, a few more days until I'm free. My brother pulls me up by my elbow, helping me grab my books.

"You really shouldn't provoke them you know," Tobias says. "They wouldv'e left you alone if you had not been so stubborn and just kissed his boot. Why do you always have to cause a scene?"

The feeling of betrayal seeps through my pores, settling into my bones. I think my heart breaks a little bit at his admission.

"You think I'M the one who caused a scene!? You don't think there was anything wrong with his behavior?" I ask in a low voice, I can't believe he's even suggesting this.

"Come on Elena, he's the alpha. He can do whatever he wants, it's best to just stay as far away from him as you can get."

He walks away and all I can do is stare after him. I can't tell if I'm more shocked, angry, or hurt by what he said.
