Chapter 1

Author: Sue Purple
After my 18th birthday party ended, my first heat as an adult werewolf hit me hard. I longed for a man to help ease the relentless pull of my mating desire.

Stumbling out of the banquet hall, I frantically searched for my boyfriend, Morgan Flint. My thoughts kept circling back to what my grandmother, Talia Whitlock, had told me the night before.

"Remember, Addie, you're a werewolf—not a human. Once you reach adulthood, you'll go through your first mating cycle. To survive it, you must find a strong mate to bond with immediately. Otherwise, you could die."

At the time, I thought she was exaggerating. But now, the uncontrollable desire coursing through my body left me no choice but to believe her.

When I stumbled upon Morgan, he was wrapped around a stunning influencer, their lips locked in a fierce, passionate kiss. Even after I caught them in the act, he didn't so much as flinch. He said, "Addie, let's call it quits for the time being."

"What?" I was stunned, unable to believe what I'd just heard.

Morgan casually pinched the woman's waist and smiled like it was no big deal. "I like you, but you don't come across as very feminine. With a flat chest like that, your figure doesn't stand a chance. How about this? Give it a couple of years. Once you've matured, I'll come back for you. Does that sound good?"

Though a chill crept through my heart, my blood was on fire.

"And who says I'll agree to be with you years later?"

I was already an adult. It wouldn't take long before my figure turned heads. Sadly, Morgan would never be there to see that transformation.

He was the one person I had hoped to bond with during my mating cycle. But to my shock, he wanted to break up with me. How was I supposed to survive my heat alone?

Before I could even think of a plan, a wave of desire swept over me. With bloodshot eyes, I sank to the floor, struggling to hold myself together.

Morgan's expression flickered with impatience as he saw my tears.

"Grow up, Addie. Stop trying to manipulate me with your crying," he snapped, shooting me a cold glance.

After a quick look around, he forcefully pushed me forward. "Tucker! You showed up just in time. Do me a favor and calm her down."

The man Morgan called was none other than his older brother, Tucker Flint. I was adopted by the Flint family as a child, so Tucker was technically my older brother. He put his glass down, his deep-set eyes locking on mine.

I curled up on the floor, staring at him with a pitiful look.

Morgan anxiously pulled Tucker aside and whispered, "Addie's drunk and acting crazy. Can you help me take her home? I've got plans with some friends, so I'm heading out now."

Tucker glanced at me and nodded.

Morgan let out a relieved sigh and patted Tucker on the shoulder. "Thanks for having my back. Anyway, once Addie's had time to mature, I'll come back for her. I know you've never been interested in women, which is why I feel comfortable entrusting her to you. Please keep an eye on her and make sure no other men get close."

After saying his piece, Morgan pulled the woman close and walked off without a backward glance. His final words had pierced my heart like a blade.

Tucker stepped forward and met my gaze. Still dazed, I lifted my head and really took him in for the first time. He towered over Morgan in both height and strength, his tailored suit outlining every muscle. His scent was a blend of cedar and raw, masculine pheromones.

With every breath, his presence eased the restless heat simmering deep within me.

There was something in his scent that spoke of a kindred spirit and a powerful presence. My newly awakened wolf insisted he was the most suitable person to help me through my mating season.

Tucker bent down and asked, "Addison, do you need me to call a doctor?"

His words held a soothing power, momentarily silencing the whirlwind of confusion in my mind.

But almost immediately, an even stronger wave of desire swept over me. I knew I couldn't hold on much longer; my werewolf ears and tail were on the verge of appearing.

"…No, just take me home quickly," I blurted out.

At first, I had no idea who the man was. All of a sudden, he raised his head. Though his face was weathered by time and hardship, faint shadows of his former self remained visible. It was Morgan. However, my heart didn't flutter in the slightest. It felt like I was looking at a complete stranger. I grabbed Jasper's hand, prepared to walk away. But before I could move, Morgan spotted me. He flung the empty bottle aside and staggered forward. "Addie! Is it really you, Addie?"He stopped right in front of me, his excitement spilling out in a rush of words. "Addie, it's you! I can't believe I've finally found you again! I managed to break out of that hellhole! I'm back! For five long years, you've been the one I thought about every single day."Jasper trembled at the sight of him. He instinctively hid behind me, his eyes filled with fear as he stared at Morgan. I gave Jasper's back a reassuring pat, hoping to calm his nerves.I turned back to Morgan and said, "Sir, I'm afraid you've

"Morgan," Tucker called out, his voice as cold as ice.Morgan's complexion drained of all color. With his forehead on the ground, he begged for mercy, "Tucker… I was wrong… Everything was my fault… I was confused… I didn't mean for any of this to happen…"Tucker, however, ignored his desperate pleas. Without a word, he grabbed his phone and made a quick call. "Have him removed."After ending the call, Tucker gazed down at Morgan and declared, "As of today, you're no longer part of the Flint family."Morgan looked up at him, disbelief written on his face. "No… Tucker… You can't do this! I'm your brother, for goodness' sake! Are you seriously going to cut me off over a woman?"A bitter laugh slipped past Tucker's lips. "The moment you raised that knife against Addie, you stopped being my brother. She's not just some woman. She's my mate. Everyone else fades in comparison. The second you laid a finger on her, you made me your enemy."A few moments later, several men in black suits b

A few days later, I stepped back onto campus. The moment I appeared, whispers and stares followed me everywhere. Everyone's eyes were wide with shock and awe."Is that really Addison? When did she get so stunning?""Stunning doesn't even begin to cover it. Just look at that figure!""I heard Morgan dumped her for some influencer. I bet he's kicking himself now."Whispers and murmurs swirled around me, but I remained unfazed. As noon rolled around, I made my way to the cafeteria for lunch. Suddenly, a young woman hurried toward me. Holding her phone high above, she looked like she was livestreaming."Addison, you brazen little homewrecker! I knew I'd catch you sooner or later!"The voice belonged to none other than Paige Denbrook, the influencer Morgan had been seeing. As soon as she spoke, every eye in the cafeteria turned in my direction. She jabbed a finger in my face and unleashed a storm of insults."It's her! She's the one who stole my boyfriend! Morgan should've been with

The tension in the air was impossible to ignore.Morgan had clearly gone ahead to confront them with his accusations. The moment Rose saw us, she leaped from the couch and stormed toward me. Her hand shot up, as though she was about to slap me. "Addison! How could you be so shameless?"Thankfully, Tucker's reflexes were quicker. He seized her wrist before she could strike. He snapped, "Mom, what on earth are you doing?"Rose's chest heaved with rage. "What am I doing? You should be asking yourself that same question! Tucker, are you out of your mind? Addison is your brother's girlfriend, for crying out loud! How could you do this?"Leonard's expression was just as grim. "Tucker, let go of your mother. You owe us an explanation."But instead of letting go, Tucker turned and pulled me closer. "The explanation is simple. Mo

When he saw me, his eyes brightened, and a faint smile curved his lips. "You're up! Come have some food."He brought a plate of fried eggs and bacon to the table and poured me a warm cup of milk.I nervously tugged at the sleeves of the oversized shirt draped around me. "Tucker…"With a pleased smile, he stepped closer and ran his fingers through my hair. "Eat quickly. Once you're done, I'll take you home."It suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't returned all night.
