Chapter 3 - Collide

I washed myself up, fixed my mid-waist reaching wavy blonde hair into a ponytail, applied some lipgloss and made my way downstairs to the drawing-room.

Gran was in the kitchen, baking my favourite lemon tarts.

I shoved one into the mouth and Jesus! If this is not heaven then I don't know what is.

Grandmother always loved cooking, she followed her passion and now proudly owns a restaurant here in Boston.

Even though it's small and cosy, it's still got its warmth of delicious delicacies that makes people feel like eating at home.

I have always felt immensely proud and pleased in helping Grandma out with managing the restaurant.

With a short staff and me going to school, sometimes I worry how would Gran manage to do it all.

Even though she always reassures me, I still sometimes get worried about her.

I saw Chris sitting on the couch, casually one arm slinging over and legs crossed. His gaze was solely fixed on some documentary about aquatic animals that were going on some cable network.

Chris looked even more handsome in his khakis and a buttoned white shirt that has something written over it, but I couldn’t read it clearly due to his sitting position.

“Hi handsome“ I greeted Chris by planting a kiss on his cheek.

“What took you so long Sky?” He asked taking off his eyes from the TV.

“Hope you had a great morning “I teased him looking towards Gran.

“Oh yes of course I was actually until your grandmother called me to shop you I mean to take you shopping “He huffed playfully.

“Dude, that’s what I love about you, always ready to give me company,” I replied to him honestly.

“Oh common Sky, I am not giving you my precious company, I am coming with you to check out the hot girls.

“Liar”

I playfully nudged him. Seriously, he should learn how to take a compliment. As he stood up to his full six feet height, from the couch I saw what’s written on his Shirt

*MY ONE SMILE CAN KILL YOU* each word spelt in red and bold!

“You bought the wrong shirt, Chris, replace that ‘smile’ with ‘fart’ and you are good to go” I teased.

“Oh I have a better one, next time we will go somewhere I will wear my ‘She loves it when I fart’ one” Chris teased back making me burst into a fit of laughter.

Gosh! This is insane! “Please tell me I am not going outside with you when you are wearing that?” I gestured at his shirt.

Chris laughed and said, “That’s the plan, So let's go.”

Chris laughingly grabbed my hand and dragged me outside.

Coming outside I saw a new motorbike, not so new but new to me .” Don’t tell me you built this!” I said with complete amazement.

“Skylar Carter, I made this beauty, all by myself and you are going to be the first one to take a ride with me of course” Chris was so happy and proud.

“Boy, You are a genius! I am so proud of you” I said returning him his smile.

“I knew that you will like it “

“It ? common Chris, it's your first handmade motorbike, we are not calling it -It. I said to him.

“Sky, no one can change girls. What are you going to name it ?” Chris was still being playful.

“We will figure that part later. For no,w let's call it...'Bike'.” I said because hello! I am very bad at giving names.

“You just named her that cause your brain is malfunctioning at the moment.”

"Now I will make yours malfunction too."

We laughed and sped through the motorbike and went inside the luxurious Mall that has been recently opened. I was sceptical though I have heard it’s truly expensive.

I bought a leather jacket as a gift for Chris for his first bike completion, at first he was refusing but I can be very persuasive.

Thanks to Chris for getting me a new dress, and for giving me a gift card for which my nails were now manicured and pedicured and my hair smells like heaven after the spa treatment.

No matter how much I refused, he did not even listen and said I deserve it all for all the hard work I did for the scholarship.

I spent the money I saved in buying out some other dresses, heels and a nice school bag and zero hoodie thanks to Chris who dragged me out of the hoodies section.

Chris was full of patience with me at the mall. People were staring at us like we are a couple, but who cares. I even noticed some stupid boys checking out me and some even winked, but in reality, they did not even get a second look from me and I resisted the urge to show them middle my finger.

“Chris, I am exhausted, we should go home now. I was so freaking tired.

“Let me carry those bags for you Sky.” But before he could, Chris phone buzzed and he told me to wait for five more minutes.

I was dying with exhaustion, so I decided to meet him directly outside.

I left him inside the mall and started walking, no scratch that running towards the exit gate.

I saw some men in black suits were ahead of me going towards the exit gate as well. One of them was wearing a black leather jacket, denim and biker boots, making him stand out among the others.

He was striding in the middle and as far as I could think the men in suits were following him. He was tall, maybe around six feet two or three, it was hard to comprehend. He constantly kept checking out the time from his wristwatch while walking. Maybe he was in a hurry I thought.

As he was walking ahead of me, so I was not being able to see his face.

I got distracted when my phone buzzed, both of my hands were full of bags and Chris was nowhere in sight.

I ignored his absence and keep walking forward. After a lot of struggle, I finally managed to get my cell out of my purse and saw who’s the caller.

“Hey, Gran! I just finished…” before I could complete my sentence I realised I had collided with some solid wall or you could say rock hard muscled back and I lifted my head to find out with whom I had collided.

It was him.

The odd one from the group.
