Lena's POV.

“Hello, ma'am,” the doctor waved his left hand, and felt my pulse with his right hand. “How many fingers am I holding up?”

“Can I get a name? Can you speak?” He continued, not even giving me a chance to think or respond.

He suddenly stopped and pointed a little fluorescent light in my eyes. I squinted and groaned inaudibly from lying stiff for far too long.

“Four, My name is Lena, and I think I can… talk,” I replied in a second, gulping as the man behind him moved closer and fixed his gaze on me.

The doctor threw a signal at him and he flashed his eyes with a questioning look. He scanned me from my head to toe until I broke contact with his striking gaze.

Who wouldn't? I had no explanation why my heart throbbed from his mere presence.

“Make sure she is alright,” the man said to the doctor, turning to leave after a long pause.

The doctor nodded and got right back into checking my vitals. My gaze remained fixed on the door as I wondered who the man was and what his intentions were for helping me out.

“You'll be alright,” the doctor reported, retracting his stethoscope from my chest.

“You just need a little rest,” he continued.

I tilted my head in all directions and as soon as he walked away, I turned to my right side. My memories reeled in like a movie tape, building up a migraine along with it. I could recall the brutal scene.

That was how I wanted to describe it. I was too humiliated to admit I let him have his way.

These memories came with pain. Elaine was a monster, I said to myself. A ruthless, self-obsessed demon, I cried.

She ruined my life completely just so that her daughter could have my man.

My time wallowing in the miseries of my past continued for some time.

Fortunately, the strange man continued checking up on me from time to time.

His presence was commanding, and his gaze alone was dominating. Something about him screamed royalty, but he did not show it, or he didn't try to show it.

Days quickly turned into weeks and before I knew it, a month was closing in. My wounds had healed already and the doctor made sure he tried his best to remind me that there was so much I hadn't gotten to enjoy.

He tried his best to stop me from having suicidal thoughts but unknown to him, I wanted clarity. I wanted to storm back to Alpha Dominic to punch him and get my payback

I wanted Elaine to be locked in a prison, beaten and grilled by the cold hands of misery. She was the reason for my suffering, my ill-fortune, and my depressed state.

The stranger was the only one who kept me curious away from the plight I had faced in the span of weeks.

Deep down in my thoughts, I felt dirty. The horrid scene kept coming back as flashes of light.

A few more weeks and I was back up on my feet, but my heart turned cold as ice each time I thought of Dominic. I knew I was going to leave this place someday soon.

I wondered where I was going to go. The masked man had clearly warned me not to go back to my pack, and I didn't want to return as a hopeless victim. I wanted to come back and beg for my forgiveness.

I wanted payback.

The door clicked open and a maid walked in with tiny steps. She curtsied as our eyes met and she stared at her feet.

“Good day, ma'am,” she greeted. “If you can kindly follow me it would be appreciated,” she said.

Before I could reply, she walked out without giving me a chance to ask her a question. I rushed outside and hurried to keep up with her pace.

“Hey, is there any way I can thank the man for helping me? I haven't seen him for some time now.” I said to the maid.

She kept mute but glanced at me with a weird smile. I kept moving but my mind was troubled.

Why was she keeping quiet? What is happening right now?

She led me to an empty room, cream coloured and a bear rug in the middle of the room. The walk-in closet caught my attention, and the flowered vase by the windows was a view to die for.

“What's going on?” I asked, curious and dumbfounded.

“The Alpha ordered a change of room,” she replied.

“Alpha?” I chorused back, speechless.

I knew there was something about him but I never knew he was an Alpha. What did he want with me? I thought to myself, my heart beating rapidly.

I clamped my fist and shot a straight look at the maid. “I want to see him,”

“He's not…”

“Please, now,” I pleaded.

“You must…”

“Leave us,” a deep voice echoed behind us. I flinched wondering how he walked in without our notice.

The maid wasted no more seconds leaving us. I swallowed hard as the man walked right in, keeping his eyes fixed on me.

My heart stopped for a second, and I hid my hands behind my back caught up by the tension that followed him inside.

I hadn't had a real conversation with him, but seeing him up close made me feel so tense, almost like I had a grape stuck in my throat.

“G… go… good day,” I stuttered. My breath swallowed my voice before I could complete my statement.

“I see you're better now,” he spoke, his voice echoing through the walls.

“Y… yes… I am,”

His stare turned dark, almost malicious, and stiff. “So I suppose you can explain what you were doing in my pack!” His voice deepened menacingly.

“Y… your pack? I… I passed out and I…” my voice faded as I leaned back several steps until I crashed against the wall. His stare only got intense and I could also tell my time was ticking.

The walls didn't scream comfortable to me anymore; they were compromising.

It's been decades since we had a pack member of the Skull Pack cross into our territory. Are you looking for a battle?” He thundered.

Skull pack?

That was my pack, and we were sworn rivals to a particular pack; a deadly war that made both of our packs come to a truce that lasted for fifteen years.

Could it be that I had stumbled into the Jade Moon Pack? Could he really be the Alpha?

My palms sweat profusely and my breath hitched.

I was in damn trouble.

Lena's POV. I needed a slap, a hard slap that would catch me off guard. A pinch, a bruise, anything to wake me from the dream I thought I was trapped in. “Are you kidding?” I muttered. “Look around you, does this place look like I'd be lying when I got important things to do. I looked around the corner and clutched my hands together. She was right and I was confused even further. “Can I get a minute alone?” I said.“Of course, I just came to check up on you per Alpha's orders… and also to tell you that you should be ready in a few minutes,” “Huh, why?” I asked curling a brow up. “You'd be restocking your wardrobe. The man in charge of that will be with you shortly. “Wait, wait! Hold on,” I blinked profusely. This was happening too fast. First, was the treatment and nursing, then the posh room and now a possible shopping spree. I hadn't been this lucky since a decade ago. “What's the problem?” She asked, placing her hand on her hips. “I don't need to… it's not necessary I get

Jade's POV. “Please… please… I didn't know I was… I passed out. I'm sorry,” my breath wheezed out in a desperate rush. I dropped to my knees, bowing my head to the floor. “Please, I never meant to offend you, I'm just a helpless girl. I got kicked out of my home… and I got kidnapped… I” my voice broke down in tears as I tried to plead my case to him. He looked pissed, and to find out I was treated by an enemy I had not encountered in my lifetime. Life was bent on showing me that my case could only get worse every day. I sniffled aloud, my tears trickling on the floor. I became vulnerable as flashes of my experience came ramming through my head. Flashes of how I was cheated on, bullied and thrown out of my home, and just when I thought I had hit the lowest, I was kidnapped and forced to give my body for my freedom. “I'm a dirty soul, a hopeless fool,” I thought to myself, but I wanted to keep living. Dominic was to blame for my pain, for everything. He gave me a false hope I shou

  • LENA    Chapter 4

Lena's POV For a long time, I had been thinking I was weak-willed, with no drive to survive or live on to the next sunrise, but my two instances with death convinced me otherwise. I thought after the masked rogue left me for death, I would slowly wheeze myself to the light, maybe watch myself float up, or feel my body rot. I managed to stand on my feet, my bones crackling and my legs shaking. My guts felt like they were being crushed by my body mass, and my legs, specifically my thighs, felt like they had been drilled through with a razor-sharp rock. My face bled, but I managed to crawl out of the warehouse, the blood on my nose trickling down and forming a trail of dots behind me. I staggered to the door, feeling a chronic pain pounding in my chest. The man must have squeezed my breasts too tightly and my skin was burning from the pain I felt all over. As I managed to press my weight on the door, it opened, and I figured out I was right all along; I was in the middle of a cornf

  • LENA    Chapter 3

Lena's POV. “You are nothing but a clown I raised. You will die worthless and nobody will think you ever existed, not me, not even Dominic,” Elaine fumed at me with a knife in her hand. I pulled back breathing rapidly. She launched at me, screaming furiously, and I ran in any direction, my heart throbbed and my hands trembled. She was a few inches from thrusting the weapon at me when I tripped on my feet and fell to the ground. The ground split into a hole and swallowed me. I screamed for help but I was suddenly trapped in deep water, drowning in its darkness, and the waves drifted me from the light. Just as I was about to lose my life, I jolted up gasping for breath. It was a dream, a pretty realistic one that kept me heaving for minutes. I looked around as my heart pounded against my chest. I was in a dark warehouse, definitely sure it was in the middle of a cornfield, void of humans. I quickly crawled to the walls, the chain on my ankle rattling. A small group of men was playi

  • LENA    Chapter 2

Lena's POV. My life had always been controlled every day. Elaine and her daughters starved me, threw insults at me, and constantly reminded me of how less of a human I was. She was furious, gritting her teeth as she charged at me. “Answer me!” She snapped, smacking my ears with a hard slap that made them ring a low tune. “How dare you touch her? Have you gone mad!” She thundered.“They… they started it,” I sniffled, pointing at her daughters. They scoffed and rolled their eyes filled with disgust. “That's a lie, Mom, she got jealous of Tracy” Brianna mouthed, boxing herself behind her sister as she fixed her skirt. “She got jealous that the Alpha rejected her. He dumped her ass and that's why she's mad.” “Yes, mum,” Tracy joined in, glaring at me. “And she said she'll kill me, she literally threatened to end my life, Mom,” Mrs Elaine gasped, covering her mouth in shock. Her daughters were lying straight out their teeth, and she festered it. She knew I would never say that, but s
