Lena's POV.

“Please… please… I didn't know I was… I passed out. I'm sorry,” my breath wheezed out in a desperate rush.

I dropped to my knees, bowing my head to the floor. “Please, I never meant to offend you, I'm just a helpless girl. I got kicked out of my home… and I got kidnapped… I” my voice broke down in tears as I tried to plead my case to him.

He looked pissed, and to find out I was treated by an enemy I had not encountered in my lifetime. Life was bent on showing me that my case could only get worse every day.

I sniffled aloud, my tears trickling on the floor. I became vulnerable as flashes of my experience came ramming through my head. Flashes of how I was cheated on, bullied and thrown out of my home, and just when I thought I had hit the lowest, I was kidnapped and forced to give my body for my freedom.

“I'm a dirty soul, a hopeless fool,” I thought to myself, but I wanted to keep living.

Dominic was to blame for my pain, for everything. He gave me a false hope I should have never leaned onto.

“Are you done with your pity party?” The man stated with a stern expression, keeping his head high and his shoulders square.

I raised my head and pressed my thighs together. “Huh,” I mumbled.

“If you are going to cry, don't stain the floor with your tears. I hate a pity show,” he continued, his voice gentle but rude.

“I am sorry,” I sniffled and used a piece of my blouse to wipe off the floor.

“Can you stop that!” He snapped. “Jeez! Are you always like this,” he pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.

“I'm sorry,” I whispered, but his glare hardened even more, causing me to flinch back.

He moved two stepped closer and tucked his hands into his pockets. He squinted his eyes slightly as I struggled to stop myself from locking eyes with him.

The silence went on for a minute, then he let out a loud sigh and nodded once. “You're telling the truth,”

“Y… yes sir,” I responded.

“It wasn't a question,” he clipped, slipping his hands from his pocket and stroking his chin. “I wanted to make sure you aren't a threat to my pack and my people.”

He crouched on his knees to meet my gaze and held my chin up with a firm grip. His thumbs grappled my chin but they felt like the weight of the world was pressed on my face.

“Look here…. lady, don't for a second think you are free. I saved you so now I own you. You should be locked in one of my dungeon but I have been in a good mood for a while. If you think you can play smart to fuck us over, I'll have your head to decorate my walls.”

My heart hammered against my chest as I held my breath, his eyes fixed on me like predatory claws.

“Do you understand me?” He roared.

“Y…yyyes,” I nodded, swallowing hard as his warm breath pressed against my face.

“Are we clear!” He echoed again. I jerked and nodded sharply.

“Yes, sir,” I replied.

He let go of my chin and I fell with a thud as I gasped for breath.

“Good.” He said, dusting his hands as he stood up “this will be your room from now on. My guards will be keeping a close eye on you… in case you decide to reveal a different personality,”

I glanced at him and swept through the room with my eyes. Really? I asked myself. This was going to be my room? I fixed my eyes on the window and glanced back at him.

“Ask your questions to the maids and you don't come to me except I call for you, understood?”

“Yes sir,” I muttered, slowly rising on my feet. I dusted and adjusted my blouse, noticing I had somehow ripped the stitching on my bust level. I cupped my hands on my boobs and covered the opening.

He suddenly froze, pressing his lips together as he kept his attention on my neck. I couldn't let the silence continue, especially when it seemed like he was expecting another response from me.

“I won't disturb you, you have my word and obedience,” I said barely above a whisper.

He cleared his throat and brushed past me. He twisted the knob to walk out but he stopped for a second and turned to me. “Get that fixed,” he stated, walking out almost immediately.

As the door clasped shut, I dropped my hands and heaved a heavy sigh. What had I gotten myself into? Was I actually safe in these halls? What if he totally hated me? Why was I giving such a posh and luxurious room? Why was he helping me?

I couldn't wrap my head around it, but I knew one thing for sure, I lived for another day. I didn't know what it had for me, but I was alive.

“But at what cost? I'm a wretch,” I spat out, wrapping my arms around my chest. I hunched my shoulders and my eyebrows dropped. “What if I live here as a slave?”

“Are you kidding me?” My wolf echoed in my head. “Take a look at this room, does this looks like the maid's quarter?”

“No… but you heard him, he's not pumped that I'm here,”

“Obviously, you are still a stranger as long as his concerned, and not just any stranger, but from a rival pack,” my wolf replied. “He's the Alpha here and it's his job to make sure he's not welcoming a threat in his home. We'll be fine if we obey his rules,”

My wolf was always different. She was tactical, precise and easily read any situation in the room. I walked towards the window, placing my hands on the window frames. I opened the curtain and shut my eyes as a warm rush of air softly dabbed my skin.

“I hope you are right,” I said, turning to the bed.

The door clicked open and the maid who had previously led me in here walked in. She circled her eyes on my ripped shirt, quickly raising her brows in alarm.

“Goodness, how did that happen?” She voiced, dropping her Swiffer duster.

“Oh, it's nothing. It ripped a moment ago.” I said, covering it up again. “Is it possible to get a needle to stich it in place.”

“A needle? She questioned. “Don't be ridiculous,” she chuckled softly.

I chuckled back without knowing the reason for her laughter. “I can't leave it open like this,” I continued.

“Of course, I'll get you a new one,” she said and walked to the other window by our right and opened the curtains.

“You don't have to. Really, you don't. You… you all have done more than enough for me.”

“You don't know it yet, do you?” She stopped and heaved a sigh.

“Know what?” I questioned, rolling my eyes in curiosity. She stepped closer until she was two feet away.

“You are a guest here. Alpha gave us orders to make you as comfortable as you please.,” she glanced at my ripped clothes and softened her smile. “So that means new clothes and all the warm gestures you can get,”

“What! That's impossible. He… he,” I paused as I turned straight to the door.

What was happening? I asked myself. The man had threatened me and expressed that he wasn't pleased at my presence, but somehow I was a guest he was willing to make comfortable?

Lena's POV. I needed a slap, a hard slap that would catch me off guard. A pinch, a bruise, anything to wake me from the dream I thought I was trapped in. “Are you kidding?” I muttered. “Look around you, does this place look like I'd be lying when I got important things to do. I looked around the corner and clutched my hands together. She was right and I was confused even further. “Can I get a minute alone?” I said.“Of course, I just came to check up on you per Alpha's orders… and also to tell you that you should be ready in a few minutes,” “Huh, why?” I asked curling a brow up. “You'd be restocking your wardrobe. The man in charge of that will be with you shortly. “Wait, wait! Hold on,” I blinked profusely. This was happening too fast. First, was the treatment and nursing, then the posh room and now a possible shopping spree. I hadn't been this lucky since a decade ago. “What's the problem?” She asked, placing her hand on her hips. “I don't need to… it's not necessary I get

Lena's POV. “Hello, ma'am,” the doctor waved his left hand, and felt my pulse with his right hand. “How many fingers am I holding up?” “Can I get a name? Can you speak?” He continued, not even giving me a chance to think or respond. He suddenly stopped and pointed a little fluorescent light in my eyes. I squinted and groaned inaudibly from lying stiff for far too long. “Four, My name is Lena, and I think I can… talk,” I replied in a second, gulping as the man behind him moved closer and fixed his gaze on me. The doctor threw a signal at him and he flashed his eyes with a questioning look. He scanned me from my head to toe until I broke contact with his striking gaze. Who wouldn't? I had no explanation why my heart throbbed from his mere presence. “Make sure she is alright,” the man said to the doctor, turning to leave after a long pause. The doctor nodded and got right back into checking my vitals. My gaze remained fixed on the door as I wondered who the man was and what his i

  • LENA    Chapter 4

Lena's POV For a long time, I had been thinking I was weak-willed, with no drive to survive or live on to the next sunrise, but my two instances with death convinced me otherwise. I thought after the masked rogue left me for death, I would slowly wheeze myself to the light, maybe watch myself float up, or feel my body rot. I managed to stand on my feet, my bones crackling and my legs shaking. My guts felt like they were being crushed by my body mass, and my legs, specifically my thighs, felt like they had been drilled through with a razor-sharp rock. My face bled, but I managed to crawl out of the warehouse, the blood on my nose trickling down and forming a trail of dots behind me. I staggered to the door, feeling a chronic pain pounding in my chest. The man must have squeezed my breasts too tightly and my skin was burning from the pain I felt all over. As I managed to press my weight on the door, it opened, and I figured out I was right all along; I was in the middle of a cornf

Lena's POV. “You are nothing but a clown I raised. You will die worthless and nobody will think you ever existed, not me, not even Dominic,” Elaine fumed at me with a knife in her hand. I pulled back breathing rapidly. She launched at me, screaming furiously, and I ran in any direction, my heart throbbed and my hands trembled. She was a few inches from thrusting the weapon at me when I tripped on my feet and fell to the ground. The ground split into a hole and swallowed me. I screamed for help but I was suddenly trapped in deep water, drowning in its darkness, and the waves drifted me from the light. Just as I was about to lose my life, I jolted up gasping for breath. It was a dream, a pretty realistic one that kept me heaving for minutes. I looked around as my heart pounded against my chest. I was in a dark warehouse, definitely sure it was in the middle of a cornfield, void of humans. I quickly crawled to the walls, the chain on my ankle rattling. A small group of men was playi

  • LENA    Chapter 2

Lena's POV. My life had always been controlled every day. Elaine and her daughters starved me, threw insults at me, and constantly reminded me of how less of a human I was. She was furious, gritting her teeth as she charged at me. “Answer me!” She snapped, smacking my ears with a hard slap that made them ring a low tune. “How dare you touch her? Have you gone mad!” She thundered.“They… they started it,” I sniffled, pointing at her daughters. They scoffed and rolled their eyes filled with disgust. “That's a lie, Mom, she got jealous of Tracy” Brianna mouthed, boxing herself behind her sister as she fixed her skirt. “She got jealous that the Alpha rejected her. He dumped her ass and that's why she's mad.” “Yes, mum,” Tracy joined in, glaring at me. “And she said she'll kill me, she literally threatened to end my life, Mom,” Mrs Elaine gasped, covering her mouth in shock. Her daughters were lying straight out their teeth, and she festered it. She knew I would never say that, but s
