Lena's POV.

I hummed a sweet, melodious tune as I walked down from the market with a bag of groceries in my hand. I couldn't get his voice out of my mind. I was excited.

Too excited.

He promised to marry me, he promised to make me his Luna. And even as I silently flung open the door, I could hear his voice in my head. Literally.

“Yes! oh god! Yes! Come on, fuck the shit out of me” a loud moan snapped me out of my head. I froze looking straight ahead at the couch.

There she was, bare naked, and her breast being groped by a figure I had known too well. My mate.

“You are so sexy,” he moaned, thrusting his cock deeper inside her.

Tracy caught sight of me, but she didn't flinch; she smirked, a sly grin spreading across her face. “Tell me I taste better than her,” she voiced, biting her lower lip and her body moving with his hands.

“You're better,” he moaned. He hadn't noticed I was in the room watching a scene that broke my heart. My chest felt heavy and my breath caught. How could he? I thought he loved me.

Tears streamed down my face as I dropped the grocery bag and fell on my knees.

Dominic quickly stopped, pulling apart as he stared at me. “Lena,” he mumbled.

“How could you?” I mouthed, weak and shaky. “I thought you loved me,”

Tracy chuckled as she put on her bra top and faked a yawn. “Oh poor sister, you thought you had him for yourself.” She voiced, mimicking a seven-year-old girl. “How selfish of you. Why don't you come, I got a warm hug saved up for you,” she cackled after that.

I turned my attention back to Dominic and slowly shook my head. “Aren't you gonna… s… say anything,” I stuttered, forcing my breath out.

He heaved and ran his hands through his hair. At the very least, I expected him to look apologetic, to spiral and try to make me feel better, but he bluffed and flung his arms on Tracy's shoulder.

“I'll be frank with you, Lena. You're boring. At first I thought you were the one… you know, my mate, but it turns out I was wrong,” he smiled.

Those words stung harder than venom. I couldn't believe he could say that… he could make me feel like a wretch.

Living with my stepsister and my stepmom made life worse, but I thought life was worth living as long as I had him.

But I was wrong.

Life was a karmic death waiting for me.

He pecked Tracy on the cheeks and turned his attention back at me with a hard glare. He clenched his fists and moved closer.

“I, Alpha Dominic, reject you as my mate,”

My heart stopped as he said those words. All I could hear was a sharp ringing tune, a blurry sight, and a dark shadow walking right past me.

He never loved me. He only used me for fun like I was disposable to him.

“Hey! Hey! Heyyyy!” A hard slap suddenly glued my face against the wall. “I'm talking to you, you bitch! How dare you ignore me,” Tracy thundered, her veins bulging on her skin.

My cheeks burned from the hit but I endured it. My heart was in far more pain than I could think of.

“The Alpha is mine, you hear me. He doesn't want an ugly-looking hag like you, he craves something fresh, and I'm glad you can't give it to him as I do.”

Another chuckle echoed behind me. I knew it was her other twin, the dumb one who couldn't make a decision without Tracy.

“I was expecting drama but I didn't expect it to be so heated. What's going on?” She cackled and intentionally stepped on my feet.

I groaned in pain and managed to stand up.

“Alpha finally dumped her for me, and now she's salty,” Tracy spat out. “Brianna, you have to see her face when he rejected her. What a silly goof!” She hissed.

Brianna shrieked excitedly, flashing her hands in the air. “Wow, Lena, you are really done for. You can't keep a man, you lost your mom, and your father couldn't even live long enough to take care of us. You must be bad luck,"

“Shut up!” I growled. “You guys wrecked my life. Why can't you just leave me alone?” I felt a surge of anger flowing in my veins.

They flinched in surprise as I screamed at them, my rage burning hotter by the second. They humiliated me and took everything from me, I couldn't take it anymore. I hated them; my stepsisters were after my life, and I could only sit back and watch them take more steps to my end.

“Watch your tone, ho’,” Tracy fired back.

“Or what? Are you going to rip out my heart coz breaking it isn't enough? You should be ashamed of yourself,” I spat out. “I may have everything taken from me, but I know a basic slut when I see one,” I clipped.

A quick gasp escaped their mouth and then silence followed. We stared for a few seconds, hand clamped and our eyes darted against each other.

Until she threw the first hit. Tracy launched a hard slap on my face and Brianna rushed forward wanting to take part in the fun.

But I wasn't going to sit back anymore. I had lost everything, down to my dignity, and the reason I could only hope to be optimistic.

With a furious look, I gnashed my teeth and launched myself at Tracy. We fell to the ground as I tugged at her hair like a ravaging bull. I was going to show her how rough they had pushed me.

Brianna joined in to help her sister, but I had Tracy in a tight lock and I wasn't going to loosen up even if the world was ending.

Unfortunately, my anger was short-lived. I fell back as a cold and thunderous voice rumbled through the air.

“What in Gaia's sake is happening here?” Her voice cut through my bone line razor sharp blade.

Her heels clicked on the floor, pulling an unnerving cloud of fear with her.

“Lena, you'd better have a perfect explanation, or I'm gonna skin you alive for trying to harm my daughters!” She snapped.

Steve's POV. It had slipped out of my mouth. I didn't realize it until she gaped at me like I was a distorted reflection of herself. The silence crept in and made everything an awkward mess, forcing me to look away and fake a faint cough. “What I'm simply saying is that I don't need you cleaning.” My gaze softened. “But…” “I don't want you to cook, don't even think of picking up a broom or dusting the curtains. That's not what I want you to do as long as you are in my house,” She frowned looking unconvinced and hesitant. “Stay all day and do nothing?” Her voice was faint. “Shouldn't I earn my keep? I'll be useless if I don't do anything in return.” I couldn't help but wonder where she got her mentality from. Every other women would jump at the chance of living luxuriously without having to touch a single thing, but she was persistent on working. ‘Dominic’s ex, huh?’ I thought to myself. Why did he reject her for another? She was pretty, innocent and calm. And even witho

Steve's POV. A small chuckle escaped my mouth as she stopped and continued breathing heavily. She thought a giant mogul like I was was going to cower at her feeble threats. “I'mma have to stop you there, lady. Whatever sacrifice you think you made was your decision, not mine. And if you do decide to leave with your …investments, I assure you I won't feel a percent drop in my stock value and net worth,” Her breathing grew heavier as soon as I stopped. “You… how could…” she stuttered. “So do me a favour and leave while you still can, Shania. You'll be doing me a favor anyway coz I never want to see you,” my cold voice roamed through the atmosphere bouncing back with a reflection of satisfaction. She turned speechless as she couldn't think of a word to say. It stretched on for almost a minute until a clang echoed in her background. Then a laugh. A dark laugh. “You got it all twisted, Steve. I don't intend to leave.” Her voice deepened with a selfish greed, a dark intent to pass h

Steve's POV. Certainly, my beta's suspicion of Lena was rooted in the cruel history my pack had with her pack. It opened room for suspicions about her story, who she was and whatever she faced. I felt that way at first, but watching her recover, the winces she made while unconscious. Her calm and still face when she laid resting. And when she finally awoke, I couldn't deny it. I wasn't supposed to love again, not after I dumped in a ditch by love. But she pumped a rush in my veins no matter how hard I tried to stop it. I broke eye contacts with Louis and nodded as I glanced at the floor and smacked my lips. “My pack's security is still my top priority, Louis. I will protect everyone when need arrives but I am not sending Lena away or keeping her prisoner. End of discussion,” my voice shook through the walls, prompting his shoulders to drop as he leaned back and looked away. “Yes Alpha,” he muttered and straightened his shoulders. He dismissed every other thoughts he wanted to po

Steve's POV. “I'm sorry, I… I… can't. I wasn't thinking… I…” she shook her head and clutched her thighs together. “I… I'm sorry,” she whispered. “It's fine, leave!” I murmured, taking my eyes off her. “Huh?” She questioned with a mix of surprised and restrained fear. She wasn't sure if she could actually leave, if I really meant it. Or maybe she didn't really want to leave, she wanted to stay some more. “I said you can go,” I repeated, my voice stern and sharp as she scraped her legs on the floor backwards. “Okay sir,” she turned her back to leave, her hair brushing off her shoulder as she twisted the knob and slipped out of my room without a single word. The soft click of the door blared through the silence, prompting me to stare at the spot where she once stood as though her shadow lingered behind calling onto me. She had left but I could still pick up her smell in the air, making her absence more obvious than I thought. “We both feel it, it's undeniable,” my wolf gro

  • LENA    Chapter 9

Lena's POV. I leaned back on the wall, using my fingers to claw onto the wall helplessly as I tried to calm myself down. I didn't understand what was happening or why I was in the room. The shadow kept coming closer and I was forced to stretch my hands forward. “Who are you… what am I doing here?” I stuttered. The shadow stopped and dropped its arm by its side. Then, he clapped his hands once and the dim light brightened immediately. It was Steve standing across the bear rug in his room, his brown eyes fixed at me like he was gaping into my soul. I took a deep breath and heaved a long sigh. “I didn't notice it was you,” I said with a soft voice, feeling my heart beating at a normal rate once again. My legs stopped trembling. “You don't have to be afraid, I have no intentions to hurt you,” he said. “Yes… Alpha,” I replied with a little bit of hesitation. He took a step forward and I jerked in response. “I’m certain Louis took you to the mall and you got whatever you need,” Lou

  • LENA    Chapter 8

Lena's POV. “He hates me,” I thought to myself. Much like the Alpha did but he was way more direct, and open with it. And it felt threatening. My fault in life was stumbling in to their territory when I had no one to help me. It was silly of him to think I was trying to hide a part of myself from him or…“Goodness,” I sighed, grabbing a jumper suit from a clothes rack. I wasn't myself, not with those eyes of his watching every move I made. He mumbled inaudibly and I could feel his presence darting blades at me even when I wasn't looking. He made the my time in the mall terrible. It became a prison, a rehabilitation center and I just trying to scrape by. At the cash counter, he wouldn't let me speak or even move a muscle. I could only pretend to smile while my conscience rotted in a hollow tunnel. This was my life now, something I couldn't explain if I wanted to. I guess living a normal life isn't cut out for me anymore. I blinked away the tears that formed on my eyes and straight

Lena's POV For a long time, I had been thinking I was weak-willed, with no drive to survive or live on to the next sunrise, but my two instances with death convinced me otherwise. Lena's POV. My life had always been controlled every day. Elaine and her daughters starved me, threw insults at me, and constantly reminded me of how less of a human I was. • LENA    Chapter 7

Lena's POV. I needed a slap, a hard slap that would catch me off guard. A pinch, a bruise, anything to wake me from the dream I thought I was trapped in. “Are you kidding?” I muttered. “Look around you, does this place look like I'd be lying when I got important things to do.
