CHAPTER 6 - THEIR FIRST KISS

Katleah squirmed out of Marco's grasp quickly. She averted her gaze and asked calmly.

"Why are you here? Didn't you leave earlier? Why did you return?"

"Just answer my question. How come you're just lying here as the rain pours down? Would you like to get sick?" Marco asks with concern.

"That doesn't matter to you. I mean, really, why are you being so annoying? What exactly are you up to? Why? Did I invite you to soak in the rain with me here? I'm not, right?" she asked Marco ponderously.

Marco frowned at the girl's response to him. The fact that she became even gloomier due to his worries surprised him.

"Are you women truly this way? Do you become enraged when a man expresses concern for you?  Why are you this way? You have such a bad temper," Marco stated as his brows met.

"Oh! That makes me the villain, huh? Because I didn't treat you well, despite your concern. Why? Did I ask you to worry about me? That's the reason why I didn't want to let you know that I planned to spend the night here. She quickly hid her mouth because of the last thing she had said. She turned away from him and was about to leave when he spoke.

"So you're going to sleep here?"

"Well, what does it matter to you if I sleep here? You don't care," she said as she kept walking.

"Look, I don't give a damn, but I can't exactly ignore my fiance, can I?" He responded right away.

She scowled at the man's response. She gave him her disquieting gaze. Is there no way your face can get thinner? It's far too thick. Why? Did I agree? It is not in my plans to marry you. What you said to me is still in my mind. You came back here to ask me about the offer, right? So, here's my response. A resounding "NO!" I don't want any of your money, so please don't bother me, anymore. She immediately turned around and walked out of the park.

She'd walked for quite some time when she suddenly remembered something. She dashed back to look for her suitcase, but it was nowhere to be found. Her gaze darted around the park when she noticed a man dragging her suitcase into a black car, and she dashed after him.

"Hey! Man! That's my luggage! He's a baddie! Why did he take my suitcase when I was broke?

Quickly, she made her way to the car where the man had left her luggage.

Her breathless knocks echoed against the tent's glass window. That's how surprised she was when the car door unexpectedly opened, revealing Marco's handsome face sitting complacently and elegantly inside. He also put on dry clothes. Though it's just a plain white T-shirt, it doesn't look like he skimped on quality. She swallowed what she was about to say when her gaze landed on the stiff muscles in his arm. Being in his arms earlier gave her the impression that she was safe, and that feeling had lasted until now.

"What? So, you're just going to stare at me, huh? Marco inquired impatiently. When he spoke, she snapped back to reality.

" Hey, Madman! Didn't we make ourselves clear earlier? Why do you keep asking? Please hand over my suitcase!" She was adamant about the man.

"If you do not enter, you will not retrieve your suitcase. Please come in." Marco quickly rushed to her.

"What the hell!  Does he think I'm messing around? Please hand over my suitcase!" She appeared to be about to cry because he had yet to give her the suitcase.

"That is why you must ride here. Where will you get dressed if you don't ride now? You might catch a cold later. I know someone you can rent from until you find one," he softly told her.

When she heard it, her eyes glowed momentarily. "Reeeeally? However, the bill may be costly, and I do not yet have the funds to pay it."

"Join then! We'll discuss it later. Don't you feel exhausted just thinking about it? Take your pride out of your body first," Marco says with a silly smile.

His words shook her to her core. Despite her hesitation, she got into the car. She needs to rest as well. She needed to change into dry clothes because she felt the cold had entered her body as a result of standing all day while working at the mall and looking for a house to rent.

Her vision appeared to be blurred. She no longer has the stamina to be obstinate with this man. She is becoming frail. When she got in the car, it wasn't long before she was fast asleep.

Marco felt terrible as he looked at the girl who was fast asleep. He moved slowly next to her and supported her head to protect it from the car's shaking.

Marco was surprised when his hand touched her feverish forehead. He cradled her in his arms to stop her from shivering from the cold. The car soon came to a halt in front of his mansion.

He quickly got down and straddled the girl like a newlywed. His steps rushed into the guest room, where he laid the girl down. He went outside for a while and then told Martha to change the girls' clothes. He has relied on Mother Martha as a trusted confidante for many years. She has cared for him since his biological mother abandoned them. He had brought a woman into his home and caught the older woman off guard.

Mother Martha emerged from Katleah's room in less than five minutes. Katleah had finished getting dressed in dry clothes.

"She has a high fever, son. She needs to take her medication." Mother Martha said as soon as she left the room.

"All right, Mother Martha, I'll look after her. Thank you. When she finally does wake up, make her a pot of steaming soup." Marco demanded the older lady."

Mother Martha nodded and walked away. Before entering the girl's room, Marco took medicine from the medicine cabinet. He perched himself on the side of the bed next to Katleah as she slept soundly. He rubbed her temples.

He whispered to the girl, "Katleah, take some medication first to reduce your fever."

He was about to get a glass of water when she grabbed his hand. "Don't leave me, please don't leave me." Katleah pleaded with him.

Marco watched as the girl's eyes slowly opened, and she looked at him as if pleading with him to stay by her side.

"Don't worry, Katleah; I'll be right by your side; I won't leave you," Marco said softly, looking at the girl's face. He couldn't figure out why his heart softened so quickly whenever he was in front of this woman. He could do things with her that he could never do with any other woman who liked him.

While she slept, he studied her angelic face, beginning with her narrow and long eyelashes and pointed nose and ending with her pink lips. He locked his gaze on them for a long time as if something compelled him to kiss them. And he couldn't help himself this time.

He slowly crossed his lips over the woman. He kissed her passionately, causing a strange sensation throughout his body. That simple kiss grew deeper as he felt the girl return his kiss. Their lips fused for a long time, and when he regained his composure, he returned his gaze to the girl. She is still sleeping peacefully. Perhaps the girl thought it was all a dream happening to them.

Three o'clock in the morning. Marco kissed her forehead once more before carefully exiting the room.
