Keira's POV

I stood there, frozen in place, my mind echoing with the sound of her palm meeting my skin.

The students around us had fallen silent, some staring in shock, others with smug smirks, glad to see the omega put back in her place.

I blinked back tears as my eyes met hers. There was no guilt in her gaze, only frustration and something I couldn’t quite name.

“What did you expect, Keira?” Her voice trembled, but not with regret. “Did you really think you could hide it forever? That I wouldn’t find out?”

I swallowed hard, tasting blood from where my teeth had grazed the inside of my cheek. “I didn’t do anything,” I whispered, my voice sounding small even to my own ears. “I didn’t… I didn’t seduce anyone. I don’t even want this.”

She scoffed and crossed her arms, her eyes darting to the students watching us with greedy curiosity. “Don’t lie to me,” she hissed, stepping closer until her face was inches from mine. “I’ve protected you for years, Keira. I let you stay with us. I ga

Keira’s POV I spat dirt from between my teeth and tried to pull my boots up without sound. Kaden’s horse breathed hot beside me. He sat straight, golden cloak tidy, like nothing had ever touched him.“You march with me,” he said. Short. Commanded. He didn’t need to look at me to make me obey. He never did.I walked. My feet were raw. The camp smell—sweat, meat, ash—hit me and I tasted everything I wanted to break. The gamemaster rode near, whip coiled at his side, smiling his small smile like it meant nothing. The recruits around me kept their heads down. They were afraid for reasons I could not fix with a dagger or a grin.“You did well in the ring,” Kaden said after a while. No warmth. Only the kind of praise that measured what he could use of you.“Thanks,” I muttered. My shoulder throbbed where Sara’s blade had bit. The wound had closed enough to be ugly. Enough to be proof someone had tried to hurt me.He snorted. “Don’t get cocky. You belong where I put you.”A last resettling

Riven POV I favour my injured lung as I ride on the back of my beast. The pain thankfully has dulled to merely a throbbing irritation as the antidote works with my natural healing to patch me. Every breath still hurts though. According to Vayrek, the poison works by petrifying tissue. If he hadn't given me the cure, my lungs would turn to stone before it spread around the rest of my body. I would be dead long before that even happens. I suppose that means I should be grateful. I'm not. I eye Vayrek as he walks in front of me, his long legs rapidly eating the distance. For someone with his bulk, he moves with surprisingly little sound. It's like seeing a mountain as light as air. The breeze tug at his fur cloak, but he pays it, and everything else, no mind. We've been riding for the past hour. At first I wanted to leave the beast behind, but Vayrek insisted that the poison would make me too weak to follow on foot. I grumbled, but I followed his advice. As much as I saw riding the b

Keira POV Vera fixes Thea with a stern glare. The laughter chokes in her throat as her cheeks heat. She grabs a jug of milk and takes a long swig, eyes lowered like a child caught in the act.Vera ignores her and turns to me. “Keira, I love you to death, but you're not making much sense right now. Gavin has been good to us, to all of us. You say you don't trust him, but you're not being very clear on why.”“I—”I almost say the words. They're on the tip of my tongue, existing there like a layer of saliva. Gavin thinks one of my parents must have been a mage. He thinks I have magic in my blood. How will my friends react? Will they see me differently? Half of the recruits already think I'm some long-lost Amazon warrior, and the other half hate me for showing them up. I've never wanted to stand out or be special, but now it seems like I have no choice. What will this information do when it gets out? More importantly, can I trust my friends, who have become family to me, with it?My wolf

  • LUNA'S CURSE; Her Three Messiahs   Chapter 123

Keira POV Gavin is the most infuriating man I have ever had the misfortune of knowing. And I've known known the sleazy bastard for a couple weeks. But of course I'm the only one with sense in my friend group. We're sitting around the table in Gavin's hut. Nylo lounges in a teacup stuffed with a pink Nylo-sized cushion. His legs are crossed, his arms outlining the rim of the cum. When I squint, I can make out the tiny cucumber patches covering his eyes, and the faint sheen of a face mask. The moment Nylo and Gavin met, they became quick friends. I had to spend weeks befriending Nylo, but it only took Gavin a couple hours. Gavin mentioned to Nylo that he was a rare kind of faerie and an expectational specimen deserving study. Normal people would find that creepy. Nylo preened and he's been visiting Gavin every night since.Vera, who I've always respected for her good sense of judgment, is no better. All it took was for Gavin to offer to get her books. Large tomes on a variety of sub

Riven POVI roll off the body of the dead man and lie on the floor. My chest rises and falls as I take deep, searing my breaths as my body tries to heal itself. The poison prevents that. The pain in my wounds seems magnified. I cough, and my phlegm is thick with blood. I study Hammond's body. Five inches of steel connect the hilt of the blade with the stone floor. He's stopped kicking, his mouth opened in a final soundless scream, made immortal by the fact that he will make no further sounds. His one eye stares at the ceiling blankly. At the site of his ruined eye, blackish green vibes spider across his face, radiating like the spoke of a wheel. His skin begins to turn pale, whitening until it looks more like chalk than human flesh. I suppress a shudder as as I see the effect of the poison that's inside of me, doing its work now. I tear the front part of my shirt, and sure enough, just left to my heart, the wound there puckers like a set of lips, oozing black blood and wicked looking

  • LUNA'S CURSE; Her Three Messiahs   Chapter 121

Riven POVI have only a single memory of my mother. My father was the kind of tyrant that couldn't limit his oppressive presence to the pack alone. His family had to suffer as well. I miss him and I loathe that he is dead, but I'm the age where sons understand that they can love a person without having respected them.In the memory, my mother is as beautiful as the sun as it filters through the branches of a tree, turning greens lighter, polishing wood until it shone bronze. Her blonde hair seemed to sparkle as I walked beside her, feeling proud, if of anything, that she was my mother and that I was her son, and content with the knowledge that this was fixed, that there was nothing I could do in her eyes to change that. It was the day she showed me what a shredder did to a human body. The day she showed me the deeds that ensured the safety of the pack. Now as I tear my way through a room of bodies, I can't help thinking of that sound. That horrible mechanical sound, the buzz of powerf
