Chapter Fifty-One

Hayden and Lucien started to laugh, but Claire whispered, "I will hurt you," and started stuffing food in her mouth.

I stuck out my tongue, but then Lily shouted, "That is bad, Mom."

"Sorry, princess, it won't happen again," I apologized. I forgot that both of them were here.

"Serves you right," Claire whispered.

"I thought we were not supposed to talk while we ate; that is what you and Dad say all the time," Elijah whispered to me, but most people heard him.

"Yes, Darling. We are just happy to see Aunt Claire, but no other person will talk again," he said while Claire gave me a look.

It looks like the children will be teaching us manners today. I smiled at them then started to eat, and after a while, we finished eating. They took the plates to the sink, and I helped the servants clear the table, even though I could feel Hayden's disapproving eyes following me.

"Time for school. Go get your bag," I said, and they ran inside to get them from the table.
