Chapter Twelve

"Hayden, let me go," I asked.

Hayden did not stop till he reached the stage. I tried to pry my hand off, but he held me right and put me in my seat. I wish the ground would open up so I could hide there. I grabbed a full glass of vodka and downed it. I felt the effects after a short while.

Someone clicked the spoon on a glass, and everyone stopped talking and went back to their seats. Alpha Joe, Ann, and Peter came to sit on the stage.

When he came to the stage, I recognized him immediately as Beta Lucien, Hayden's second in command.

"We are gathered here for the celebration of the return of Alexandria Walker to Shadow Pack as the mate of the Alpha. So may we please clap for them and stand up for the Alpha Hayden speech?" Jax said.

Everyone stood up. I tried to stand with them, but Hayden dragged my hand back. I looked at him to know what the problem was, but he was not looking at me and once everyone stood up, he pulled me up too.
