Escaping through the back alley

As the night descended upon the city like a veil, the silver half-moon hung in the sky and dimly shone as a source of light in compliment with the dim streetlights that flickered at intervals. The night was slightly cold and the soft breeze that blew left the sky with thin clouds, leaving the atmosphere a bit whimsical.

In an alley around the back of a pub. The street lights had been vandalized, and only the soft purrs of cats as they dug in the garbage along with soft giggles and whispers could be heard. The place reeked of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, vomit and piss. The dark brick walls of the buildings were cold and dry, and the floor were littered with dirts.

" Erhh!" A goog could be seen struggling to walk up ahead in the back alley as he fell and rose all alone. No one seemed to care about him at the moment as everyone had a thing or two they were busy doing. A couple kissed in the darker corner, while some were involved in a more intimate position, smoking and indulging in a variety of vulgarity.

Creak!

The rusty back door of the pub was pushed open gently in a small squeak and two figures suddenly rushed out the back door of the pub after looking around cautiously. One of the two men held the other's left arm over his shoulder as he supported the other person who pressed their right arm to the wall to walk along the alley. His eyes glowed golden in the darkness, but luckily enough, none caught sight of this as those around were too engaged in their lusty acts. They were either too drunk, or not themselves at the moment to care about his glowing eyes.

" Erik, you think it's safe to leave now?" The one being held said through pained grunts, obviously not in the best condition. He seemed to look down at his abdomen which he held a hand to for a moment.

" I think so. We can't stay too long around here or we risk being found. Paulo has been a good friend to us, we can't risk causing him trouble as well!" Erik, whose thin high-cheekboned face was slightly highlighted by the slight illumination of the night, said with alertness in his tone as he helped his brother through the alley. He looked around cautiously and slowed down the pace at which he moved when he saw the painful expression on his brother's face. The worry in his face softened a bit seeing his brother's condition.

With the way they moved along the alley, they seemed like two friends helping each other after having had too much to drink. They tried as much as they could to act ordinary and not catch the attention of those around them.

" Just a little more and we will be out in the woods, Jake" Erik said whilst looking adown to encourage Jake. The latter nodded his head, and maintained a headstrong stance after. Jaie retrieved his right arm from the wall seeing the drunk old man staggering in front of them and straightened his back a little as he mustered the strength to match Erik's pace.

Erik seeing this resumed looking around cautiously right after. He had to, after all, his life and Jake's was practically in danger.

Just as the duo were about to walk past the staggering goog, the drunk old man who had at this point found enough strength to stand suddenly lost his balance and fell unto the side of Jake.

" Argghh!!" Jake howled out in pain and Erik rushed to push the goog aside. "Bastard! Can't you see-"

Jake grabbed Erik by his collar and warned through gritted teeth before the latter would lash out at the goog

" Don't!" A golden ring shone around his pupil sharply and his canine that had grown even sharper became visible to Erik. He pressed a palm to his chest as he held back the urge to wince as the pain from his injury pierced through to his nerve.

Erik was shook and just stared silently at Jake. He clenched his jaw tight to maintain silence and ignored the goog who was now struggling to get up.

" We need to evacuate this place as fast as we can remember? And we can't leave traces!" Jake said while looking behind them to indicate that there were people watching. He released his grip on Erik and took the while to regain his bearing. He tried to move on his own, but his effort seemed futile as he staggered, almost falling. Erik quickly stepped in and caught Jake before he would fall.

" Thank you!" Jake thanked Erik in a hoarse shaky voice that was full of pain and shot an appreciative gaze at Erik with his palm still pressed to his wound.

Erik nodded in his head with a resolute expression worn on his face. Without saying anything further, he and Jake continued to move with him helping Jake walk once again.

They both continued on their way out of the alley and headed toward the woods.

Since the streets were quite scanty in the night, they were able to make it through into the woods while avoiding the sight of passers-by.

The woods were even darker as the tall trees covered the dim illumination that the half-moon provided. Several creepy sounds and howls resonated through the darkness, indicating that danger lurked around for those who ventured too deep. However, despite all of this, Jake and Erik continued with relief on their faces as danger, to them, was in the city.

The pace at which they walked slowed down considerably as they felt safer in the woods. They believed that the hunter wouldn't dare to follow after them into these parts of the woods. After all, this was their forte.

" Now that we've reached a safe spot, I think we should rest" Jake who had been bearing with the pain from his wounds all along said in a convincing tone. He stopped on his walk and looked towards Erik to confirm the latter's opinion.

' He must be truly tired from the wounds he's suffered. He's been pushing himself all along.' Erik understanding what he implied didn't say anything as he directed them towards a big tree with a small clearing underneath.

However, just as he was about to urge Jake to take a sit, a beam of light flashed from afar in the deep dark woods and the two catching glance of this became alerted instantly.
