Beta Rhys groaned, his large hands gripping Irene’s waist as he pushed her onto the bed. He quickly removed his remaining clothes, revealing a body sculpted from years of training.

My thighs clenched involuntarily as he ran his hands down her parted legs, his fingers brushing the slick heat between them.

Irene whimpered, her body arching as he kissed her inner thigh. “I've missed you....”

“....I know,” he murmured, before lowering his mouth to her.

A sharp gasp tore from her lips as he worked her down there. I bit down on my knuckle, barely suppressing a noise of my own as Irene shook beneath him, her moans growing louder with every flick of his tongue.

I shouldn’t be here.

But I couldn’t look away.

After some time, Beta Rhys brought his head up, his lips glistening. He positioned himself at her entrance, gripping her hips, ready to thrust when a sudden knock on the door echoed through the room.

They both froze.

"Beta Rhys," a voice called from the other side. "The Alpha has summoned you immediately."

Rhys cursed under his breath, his frustration evident as he clenched his jaw. Irene hastily pulled a sheet over herself, her expression shifting from pleasure to panic.

I held my breath, pressing myself deeper into the darkness of the box, my heart pounding in my chest.

Rhys let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair before hurriedly pulling up his trousers. "I'm really sorry babe, I'll make it up to you" he muttered as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

Irene pouted but nodded, quickly wrapping herself in the sheet as Rhys hurriedly dressed up, strode to the door, and disappeared into the hallway.

A few moments later, Irene let out a sigh as she started dressing up. She sat on the bed for a few seconds, seemingly lost in thought, before she too rose and slipped out of the room, making sure no one was watching.

I waited until the sound of her footsteps faded before I finally let out a slow, shaky breath. I knew I needed to get out before someone else came in.

Carefully, I crept out of the closet. My legs were stiff from crouching for so long. I moved silently across the room, pausing at the door to listen for any movement outside.

When I was sure the coast was clear, I slipped out and hurried to the hall, my only goal now was to reach the storage house before Delta Gareth came looking for me.

My heart pounded as I turned each corner, keeping my footsteps as light as possible. The cold air nipped at my skin, but I ignored it, focusing only on getting to my destination unnoticed.

When I finally reached the storehouse, I came to an abrupt halt. My breath hitched in my throat.

The door was open.

I immediately knew I was too late.

A chill ran down my spine as I hesitated just outside the entrance before stepping in.

Before I could take another step, a heavy slap exploded across my cheek, sending me sprawling to the ground. My vision blurred, and a ringing filled my ears as I clutched my stinging face.

"You worthless little rat!" Delta Gareth's furious voice boomed above me. "How dare you disobey me?"

Tears burned the corners of my eyes, but I refused to let them fall as I slowly lifted my head to meet his enraged glare.

"I sent you to get the wine for the festival, and you disappeared like a useless mutt!" he roared. "Do you think you can ignore my orders and wander off?"

I opened my mouth to explain that I had lost my way, but before I could speak, Delta Gareth’s nose flared. His expression darkened with pure rage.

"What is that stench?" he hissed, his voice dropping to a dangerous level. His eyes locked onto mine, his fury intensifying. "You reek of sex."

My blood ran cold. My stomach twisted in knots as I realized what he meant. His wolf senses had picked up the scent of Beta Rhys and Irene from the room I had hidden in.

His reaction was absolute fury. In an instant, he gripped my arm with crushing force. "You filthy little whore!" he spat. "Who have you been spreading your legs for instead of doing what you were told to do?"

Delta Gareth's grip on my arm tightened painfully as he dragged me to the hall. My feet stumbled against the dirt, but he didn’t slow down. The murmurs of the gathered pack members grew louder as we emerged into the festival grounds, their attention focused on us. The joyous atmosphere shifted in an instant.

"Look at this disgrace!" Gareth bellowed, shoving me forward. "She reeks of filth and sex!"

A hush fell over the crowd as all eyes locked onto me, their expressions ranging from disgust to curiosity. My heart pounded violently as the weight of their stares bore down on me.

I opened my mouth to plead my innocence, to explain, but before I could utter a word, Gareth's voice rang out again.

"Who was it? Who were you having sex with, you worthless mutt?" he roared, his eyes scanning the crowd. "If she reeks of sex, then some filthy bastard has been with her!"

A few amused chuckles echoed from the crowd, and then Killian and Damon stepped forward. They never would miss any opportunity to torment me.

"Maybe she threw herself at someone," Killian sneered. "Desperate little thing."

"Or maybe," Damon smirked, his voice filled with mockery. "Maybe she was too busy playing with herself as nobody would want her."

The crowd murmured in agreement, their whispers growing into accusations.

My pulse pounded in my ears as I struggled to find my voice. But then, before I could utter a single word in my defense, another voice cut through the chaos.

"What is going on here?"

Caelan’s POV We sat on a blanket in a field that stretched on.The silence around us was not eerie or suspicious. It was a complete silence that only spoke about the stability.Beside me, Lyra sat with a smile on her face. She was radiating. There was something about her that constantly made her beautiful to me. It wasn't in her physical elegance or delicate look. It was in the way her heart was pure, untouched by the bitterness and pain she endured. She was strong. Bold. And mine.I looked ahead, taking a look at what she was staring at, and I chuckled. Our son runs ahead of us—barefoot, bare-chested, golden-eyed like Lyra, and sharp-jawed like me. He darts through the field, chasing after a squirrel as if he would win some kind of award over it. Lyra laughed hard at this, and I chuckled. She looked at me, eyes lit up in joy.“He’s never going to catch it.” She said softly.I nodded, joining her to laugh. It has been two long years already. Two years since Lyra and I marked each ot

Lyra POVIt wasn't as easy as I thought.Making the people accept a way that is different from what they were used to was almost impossible.I felt Caelan’s hand in mine, warm and gently comforting me as I began to feel the beginning of frustration hit me.“It's only the beginning.” He whispered in my ear. “They will adjust.”I prayed with all my heart that he was right.I almost melted into his touch.Ever since Caelan marked me a few nights ago, we have been unstoppable. It was almost as if I had a desire to live inside his skin, and the same with him.We were always in each other's company. It was clear what I felt for him.Love.Even though those words haven't slipped out of my lips, I felt it deep in my soul. But I was a little scared. I had no idea if he felt the same way.Desire could not really be equal to love. For Caelan, it could all be an act of duty and passion, but to me he was becoming everything. It would break me if I didn't have those words spoken back to me.That w

Caelan – POVThe war was over, finally.Idris was gone, and so was Selene. However, the relief I thought I would have felt at this knowledge didn’t come.Revenge was never the answer to my pain. All the years I spent going after those who hurt me did nothing but harm to myself. And Lyra made me realize that.I stood before her room door, contemplating if I should go through with this or turn back. For months, I have held back, consistently, wondering if it was the right thing to do.But now, I couldn’t care less about what others would think. I wanted her. I needed to touch her, feel her.Make her mine.I could feel my wolf grow restless from need. Yet, I knew Lyra had to be on the same page with me before I could go through with anything. The worst I would get was a no. With raised chin, I raised my hand and rapped my fingers against her door. The door flew open almost immediately. It was as if she was waiting for me to knock the entire time. For a moment, we stood staring at each

Lyra – POVIdris was gone too.Just like that.I still found it hard to believe he fought Selene to help me.Idris? There was no time for me to ruminate over his actions, seeing as Selene still wielded her sword against me. She was different from the last time I had seen her. The black dress she had on now contrasted with the white one she had worn in the past.I could see something that no one else could. The shadows. It was all over her. She was drenched in the darkness. There was something about her that felt so familiar, an aura that drew me to her like a moth to a flame.“You are hard to kill.” Selene chuckled when I laid Idris's body in line on the ground and fully faced her.“Or maybe there's something you are not doing right.” I said, raising my chin.Selene scoffed. “You have no idea what I am capable of now.I allowed my eyes to roam over her. “I can guess.” I whispered softly.Selene raised the blade, and with one throw, she swung it at me. The blade spun my way, and I d

IDRIS POV“What happened to you?” I gasped watching Selene walk up to me.The way she moved was eerie. There was something calculated and cold about the movement of her eyes. Then her clothes.Black.Selene never wore black. There was no veil covering her face. Her dress was bolder and more revealing. Her lips were painted in a bright red that contrasted sharply with the pale white of her skin.“You look like you've seen a ghost.” She chuckled, coming to a stop before me.I didn’t speak at first.I didn't know what to say. For days, I have wondered where Selen went after we both escaped from Caelan and Lyra. There was no sign of her, but now, here she was.I could see this wasn’t the same Selene I waited for. It was too obvious for me to remain blind to that fact.A sudden click drew my attention back to her.She held her hand up in the air, signifying that the sound came from snapping her fingers together. Then there was a swoosh. My eyes widened when a cloud of shadows appeared abov

Caelan – POVThere was nothing left of it. Nothing but silence. It felt like I was standing in the middle of a graveyard, surrounded by buried memories.Who would believe this place was once filled with life? Beauty. As I stood before the gravestones where my parents' names were carved, my mind's eye could envision everything. My father and his Beta are having a meeting, my mother is attending to the pack members, and the children are running around. It used to be such a life. But now, all that struck me was the silence. It was the kind of silence that followed the absence of wandering souls. The last time I stood here was when I was a child. The last day here was the most horrifying day of my life. It left me covered in ash and blood. It was worse that I was a survivor.I believed it would have been better if the war had taken both me and my parents, but I was left to bear it alone. The guilt of being alive has plagued me till this very moment.I lowered myself to the ground and ran
