"What is going on here?"

I immediately recognized the voice. It was Alpha Cedric's. For the first time in my life, I was happy to hear his voice.

Despite being his biological daughter, Alpha Cedric had never treated me as one. To him, I was a stain on his legacy. Believing I ate his heir, his successor, he condemned me to a life of slavery.

But in that fleeting moment, I believed he might finally see me as his own, thinking he had come to my rescue. I had never been more wrong in my life.

His voice cut through the commotion with authority as I gasped for breath.

"What is going on here?" Alpha Cedric asked again angrily. "Why is everyone standing here instead of preparing for the festival?"

Delta Gareth's eyes burned with rage as he released his fists and turned to respond to Alpha Cedric.

"Alpha," he said, bowing his head slightly. "I sent this disgrace to fetch the wine needed for the festival, but instead of completing the errand, she wandered off to engage in sexual activities. I had to go retrieve the wine myself, only to find her slinking back afterward."

My stomach twisted, and I felt as if the ground should open and swallow me. My hands trembled slightly, and I struggled to swallow the lump in my throat.

"Is this true?" My father, Alpha Cedric, asked as he turned towards me.

I opened my mouth, trying to explain, but before I could say anything, Delta Gareth's voice rang out.

"She reeks of sex, my Alpha," he said with disgust, his eyes full of anger as he looked at me.

The look on my father, Alpha Cedric's face was filled with rage and disappointment. I felt the weight of my father's rage pressing down on me.

I stood frozen as my heart pounded loudly in my chest.

I was suffocating.

I opened my mouth to defend myself, but no words came out.

"Enough of this disgrace!" he commanded in a loud and angry voice. "How dare you taint the spirit of our sacred tradition? The festival is meant to be a time of purity, yet you have sullied it with your shameful acts. This is an insult to our ancestors and the values we uphold! Take her to the prison immediately!"

A wave of murmuring and dread spread through the crowd, and my blood ran cold as I heard my father's verdict.

Fear gripped my heart as two guards gripped my arms, dragging me away.

"No, please! I didn’t do anything!" I cried, struggling against their grip, but no one listened.

Alpha Cedric had already turned away, his judgment final.

As I was dragged through the dirt, the crowd parted. I fought against their grip, desperate to escape, but the warriors held me firmly.

I could still feel the pain from Delta Gareth's slap on my face as my vision blurred with tears pouring down my eyes as the realization hit me.

I am truly alone.

I could see the prison as I struggled against the warriors dragging me forward. I twisted and fought, but it was useless. They were too strong for me.

The thick iron gate of the prison creaked open, revealing a dark corridor that smelled of damp earth and decay. My stomach churned as the cold air seeped through my thin clothes, chilling me to the bone.

The warden, a burly man, stood at the entrance. His name was Warden Regan, known for his cruelty and lack of compassion. He grinned as he saw me, his eyes filled with amusement. "So, the Alpha's disgrace finally arrives."

Without another word, he nodded to the guards and threw me in a cell. I stumbled into the cold, dimly lit cell. The heavy door slammed shut behind me with a deafening clang as Warden licked his lips "We are gonna have so much fun"

I collapsed onto the filthy stone floor, my body trembling. Tears blurred my vision, and a single thought echoed in my mind.

"What did I do to deserve this?"

The cell was as small as my room, with cold and rough stone walls. The room was dark and unwelcoming. I barely noticed the thin, tattered blanket that lay crumpled in the corner of the cell.

I quickly wrapped it around myself, but it did little to keep out the biting cold. My breath came out in shaky gasps as I curled up in the corner, my body aching from exhaustion and fear.

"Will I ever escape this nightmare?"

As I paced the small cell, lost in thought about my life and everything that had led me here, my foot nudged against something uneven. Frowning, I looked down and noticed a loose tile.

Curious, I crouched to inspect it. As I pressed down on the tile, to my surprise, a part of the wall of my cell shifted slightly.

A hidden door slowly creaked open, revealing a narrow tunnel beneath the prison. The air became dusty, making me cough, but amidst it was a faint scent—something oddly familiar, stirring a strange feeling deep within me.

It felt like something inside the tunnel was calling out to me.

Hesitant yet intrigued, I stepped through the hidden door into the tunnel. Strange symbols covered the stone walls, their patterns unfamiliar yet oddly mesmerizing. A chill ran down my spine, but at the same time, I felt an unexplainable pull toward them, as if they were calling out to me.

Out of curiosity, I reached out to touch one of the inscriptions, tracing my fingers over the rough carvings. As soon as I touched it, a deep voice growled from the darkness, sending a shiver down my spine.

"What took you so long, child of prophecy?"

Immediately, my breath hitched, and before I could react, my vision blurred as my legs gave out beneath me.

Caelan’s POV We sat on a blanket in a field that stretched on.The silence around us was not eerie or suspicious. It was a complete silence that only spoke about the stability.Beside me, Lyra sat with a smile on her face. She was radiating. There was something about her that constantly made her beautiful to me. It wasn't in her physical elegance or delicate look. It was in the way her heart was pure, untouched by the bitterness and pain she endured. She was strong. Bold. And mine.I looked ahead, taking a look at what she was staring at, and I chuckled. Our son runs ahead of us—barefoot, bare-chested, golden-eyed like Lyra, and sharp-jawed like me. He darts through the field, chasing after a squirrel as if he would win some kind of award over it. Lyra laughed hard at this, and I chuckled. She looked at me, eyes lit up in joy.“He’s never going to catch it.” She said softly.I nodded, joining her to laugh. It has been two long years already. Two years since Lyra and I marked each ot

Lyra POVIt wasn't as easy as I thought.Making the people accept a way that is different from what they were used to was almost impossible.I felt Caelan’s hand in mine, warm and gently comforting me as I began to feel the beginning of frustration hit me.“It's only the beginning.” He whispered in my ear. “They will adjust.”I prayed with all my heart that he was right.I almost melted into his touch.Ever since Caelan marked me a few nights ago, we have been unstoppable. It was almost as if I had a desire to live inside his skin, and the same with him.We were always in each other's company. It was clear what I felt for him.Love.Even though those words haven't slipped out of my lips, I felt it deep in my soul. But I was a little scared. I had no idea if he felt the same way.Desire could not really be equal to love. For Caelan, it could all be an act of duty and passion, but to me he was becoming everything. It would break me if I didn't have those words spoken back to me.That w

Caelan – POVThe war was over, finally.Idris was gone, and so was Selene. However, the relief I thought I would have felt at this knowledge didn’t come.Revenge was never the answer to my pain. All the years I spent going after those who hurt me did nothing but harm to myself. And Lyra made me realize that.I stood before her room door, contemplating if I should go through with this or turn back. For months, I have held back, consistently, wondering if it was the right thing to do.But now, I couldn’t care less about what others would think. I wanted her. I needed to touch her, feel her.Make her mine.I could feel my wolf grow restless from need. Yet, I knew Lyra had to be on the same page with me before I could go through with anything. The worst I would get was a no. With raised chin, I raised my hand and rapped my fingers against her door. The door flew open almost immediately. It was as if she was waiting for me to knock the entire time. For a moment, we stood staring at each

Lyra – POVIdris was gone too.Just like that.I still found it hard to believe he fought Selene to help me.Idris? There was no time for me to ruminate over his actions, seeing as Selene still wielded her sword against me. She was different from the last time I had seen her. The black dress she had on now contrasted with the white one she had worn in the past.I could see something that no one else could. The shadows. It was all over her. She was drenched in the darkness. There was something about her that felt so familiar, an aura that drew me to her like a moth to a flame.“You are hard to kill.” Selene chuckled when I laid Idris's body in line on the ground and fully faced her.“Or maybe there's something you are not doing right.” I said, raising my chin.Selene scoffed. “You have no idea what I am capable of now.I allowed my eyes to roam over her. “I can guess.” I whispered softly.Selene raised the blade, and with one throw, she swung it at me. The blade spun my way, and I d

IDRIS POV“What happened to you?” I gasped watching Selene walk up to me.The way she moved was eerie. There was something calculated and cold about the movement of her eyes. Then her clothes.Black.Selene never wore black. There was no veil covering her face. Her dress was bolder and more revealing. Her lips were painted in a bright red that contrasted sharply with the pale white of her skin.“You look like you've seen a ghost.” She chuckled, coming to a stop before me.I didn’t speak at first.I didn't know what to say. For days, I have wondered where Selen went after we both escaped from Caelan and Lyra. There was no sign of her, but now, here she was.I could see this wasn’t the same Selene I waited for. It was too obvious for me to remain blind to that fact.A sudden click drew my attention back to her.She held her hand up in the air, signifying that the sound came from snapping her fingers together. Then there was a swoosh. My eyes widened when a cloud of shadows appeared abov

Nothing but silence. It felt like I was standing in the middle of a graveyard, surrounded by buried memories.Who would believe this place was once filled with life? Beauty. As I stood before the gravestones where my parents' names were carved, my mind's eye could envision everything. My father and his Beta are having a meeting, my mother is attending to the pack members, and the children are running around. It used to be such a life. But now, all that struck me was the silence. It was the kind of silence that followed the absence of wandering souls. The last time I stood here was when I was a child. The last day here was the most horrifying day of my life. It left me covered in ash and blood. It was worse that I was a survivor.I believed it would have been better if the war had taken both me and my parents, but I was left to bear it alone.
