“Why?" Madeline questioned. "Because I’m correct?”

Ethan. Pushed her once more. Madeline crashed to the ground with force. This moment she twisted her torso straining to grab the documents that had slipped from her weakened hold. The sheets were strewn about the floor, some crushed by Ethan others remaining untouched. She lunged for a page, the biggest transfer evidence but Ethan acted quicker. His foot pressed down on the paper before she managed to snatch it.

“Do you believe you’re capable of challenging me?" he asked, forcefully stepping down with his leather shoe. "When did you grow so courageous?”

Madeline pushed her body forward, her breathing quick and uneven. "After Sonia passed, " she murmured. "After I found out you deceived me about everything. Even about us.”
