Camille's POV

I froze for a second. Malcolm was absolutely right. I didn't have a single shred of evidence; it was purely a guess.

Seeing my hesitation, Malcolm let his aura wrap around me gently, as if trying to soothe my intense anxiety.

"Go on back for now. I'll ask around and figure this out for you. If it wasn't Lucian, I'll do my best to track down Elise's whereabouts. If it was him, I'll find a way to make him let her go."

I looked at Malcolm, a little hesitant.

"Alpha Malcolm, thank you

Camille's POVHe stopped and turned his head to look at me, anger churning in his eyes.He looked down at me, his tone as cold as if he were speaking to a complete stranger."Sorry, I'm very worried about Lara's condition. I don't have time to talk to you."My hand, which had been gripping his arm, subconsciously let go. My wolf clawed frantically at the inside of my chest.I smiled bitterly. Five years of companionship, and I couldn't even buy one minute of his time to listen.Lucian didn't stay a second longer. He took long strides and walked out.Brad shot me a loaded glance, his eyes full of the petty, triumphant contempt of a villain getting his way, and swaggered out right behind him. Their figures disappeared beyond the revolving doors. The lobby fell quiet again.I stood frozen in place, weakly clenching my palms tight.I still didn't know where Elise was. Every extra minute dragged out was another minute

Camille's POVHearing that, Brad's lips curled into a smirk. He strolled over to me and slowly looked down, as if examining something highly amusing."Well, well. Look who it is." He smacked his forehead, feigning a sudden realization."Camille. What? Completely dumped by Lucian, so now you're here to beg him to take you back to the pack? But he doesn't even want to see you, so you're just sitting here planning to harass him?"I had heard way too much of his venomous garbage. I rolled my eyes and turned my head away, ignoring him completely. My lack of response only excited him more. His aura spilled out carelessly, carrying a heavy oppressiveness, even though that tiny bit of aura was nothing to me."Camille, I warned you last time not to use those dirty tricks to cling to Lucian. You didn't listen. Do you really think running over here will make him go soft? Let me tell you, the second Lucian got back from his trip today, he went st

Camille's POVFive years of wholehearted devotion, yet in the eyes of the Aurora Shadows alpha, it was only fit for the trash can.I had already wasted days because of Malcolm's lies. Now, I had to find Lucian as soon as possible and demand to know Elise's whereabouts.Inside the Aurora Group building, two werewolf receptionists at the front desk stopped me.One of them looked me up and down arrogantly."Excuse me, do you have an appointment?""I'm looking for Lucian."Hearing his name, the professional smiles on the two females' faces vanished instantly. The way they looked at me shifted into something much more calculating."You're looking for our boss? Then you need to make an appointment at least a week in advance."I didn't want to waste time tangling with these people, so I got straight to the point."I am his mate... and the luna of his pack. I have a very important matter to discuss with him."They

Camille's POVThe glass window in the hallway reflected my cautious demeanor.I froze for a moment.I was clearly the mate the Moon Goddess had bestowed upon Lucian, the luna of the Aurora Shadows, yet here I was, huddled in a corner like a thief, terrified of being discovered.Meanwhile, Lara could parade around in front of me, flaunting just how much Lucian's wolf desired her.I forced a self-deprecating smile at my reflection in the glass.I had to admit, Lara was absolutely right. In Lucian's heart, she was truly important. I had never doubted that for a second.Otherwise, what right did she have to call Lucian out of my bed in the dead of night?Actually, I had known for a long time that this was a battle I could never win. I was just delusional, hoping that my endless compromises and endurance could somehow earn me the right to stay by Lucian and Rowan's side.Fortunately, the dream was finally over.Just as

Camille's POVAs she spoke, the scent of Lucian's fir-tree pheromones, mixed with her own sickly sweet scent, drilled into my nose.Unable to stand it, I subconsciously covered my nose and mouth with my hand."Did you ask me out here just to show off?""I heard you've been throwing a fit lately, demanding to break the mating bond with Lucian. While I don't know if you genuinely want to be rejected or if you're just fishing for attention, it doesn't matter to me. I just want to warn you: Lucian belongs to me forever. No matter what you do, you can't change that fact."With that, she brushed back a stray strand of hair from her forehead, looking at me with absolute confidence."Between you and me, whether it was five years ago or five years from now, his first choice will always, always be me."I quietly listened to her narcissistic provocation before calmly speaking up."If you're so sure of that, then why was I the she-wolf he mated with five years ago, and not you?"Lara smiled, comp

But... why are you helping me?"Malcolm's eyes flickered uncomfortably, and he looked away."Lucian and I grew up together. To be honest, I just don't want to see things between you two stay this tense. Plus..."He suddenly lowered his voice."I've always found Lara's illness highly suspicious. Honestly, I think she's faking it."My head snapped up, staring at him. "You think so too?"Malcolm nodded."But that's just my personal judgment. I don't
